Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with laundry

It's Troy again...

Currently 55 F-degrees and a high of 76F projected.

Game store today. Yesterday I sent off an email to the Advance the Colors convention director that I needed to downscale my upcoming mega battle at the convention. I bit off more than I could chew, getting that event ramped up.

Seems my brain is ready for model trains, but my commitments were for gaming mega battles which involves another four weeks of painting gaming minis and terrain, playtesting the scenarios. I learned enough from my last dance with gaming burnout to know the big unfriendly monster is fast approaching. Time to disentangle myself from overcommitments.

I'm breathing easier because of that... so I celebrated and purchased the rules to a new game! ;)

i collect rulessets the way some MRRers collect locomotives.

I have played a game called Saga in the past. Liked it, but there were some issues with the rules that made it not a good fit for me. This one looks like a more relaxed playstyle - which I'm all about. And, since the company (Victris) is UK based, they've suspended shipping product to the US due to the removal of the De Minimus exemption. A LOT of UK and European companies are retooling or dropping shipments to the US. Things are going to be crazy for a month or so as both sides of the pond get used the new way. At least in gaming, I can order electronic files to read or print on the 3D most of the time.

I'm still looking for good 3D files for modern zombies that will scale down to 1:160, though. I've found Fantasy style ones, but not modern.

OK, time to shower and prep for gaming. BBL

Although I'm busy with house projects at the moment I ordered some model railroad supplies a few days ago. Golf is starting to slow down for me and I'm going to post some railroad projects soon. Yesterday I worked on the new back door stair project digging two 2-foot-deep holes to set my end of stairs post on. I poured concrete in one and secured everything in place with clamps until the concrete dries. I used 2 heavy duty brackets set down in the concrete to attach the posts to. I made some changes to how wide the stairs are going to be. The fascia boards I wanted to use are over $100.00 a board so I cut down the stair width to save a lot of money. Swal

Good morning everybody!

I took a trip yesterday to Palmer, MA which was a relatively short drive from my location. The train club I’m a part of was having a surplus sale of various equipment so I checked that out. Didn’t find anything of interest.

I also visited a small railroad hobby shop in Palmer as well that an older gentleman opened up about two weeks ago. Got a few goodies for each of my layout projects! I thought I’d share the FaceBook marketplace link I discovered for anyone who lives near the area and wishes to visit.

If you don’t have Facebook, you can visit the store at the School House Commons, 1085 Park St, RM B1 Palmer MA 01069.

They have fantastic prices! It felt so good to shop at a local store after many years of not having one available to me:)

Definitely check it out!

Good cool morning all. 62°F here with a dewpoint not even worth mentioning...finally. Supposed to be 77°F today, so I will probably be outside much of the afternoon.

Made Pillsbury bisquits earlier with strawberry jam and coffee. That will hold me until noon. I was going to cook on the grill today, but I'm saving it until tomorrow when the neighbors are at work.

Everyone have a great day!

Good morning all,
A windy, sunny 55 degrees, I feel like I am at a campground due to the scent of pine smoke in the air, one of the neighbors had a bonfire last night.

I worked at the History Center yesterday, the trains on their model railroad had collided at a crossing, happens from time to time, one of the operators was going to check the video to try to figure out what happened.

Temp supposed to top out at 66 today. Really feels like fall with blue Jays and Kingfisher fussing at me. I am usually sitting outside when doing my posting.

Reading about this "new" thing they are calling forest bathing. I think it is similar to what my mom would request of us while growing up: go outside and play

Church, lunch, dishes, walk, trains, supper, television; today's schedule.

Good Morning All. Clear and 72°, high still expected to be in the mid-90's today. Cooler weather coming next week with only 2 of the next 10 days reaching above 90°; if one believes the NWS. They've hopscotched the probable rainy days around again for next week, maybe we'll see some! Pool is still at 87°, hoping that lasts for a few more weeks. Some years Labor Day marks the end of our pool season, some years we can go until October comfortably. I have enough chemicals to go that far.

Another boring day around the SFW estate yesterday. I remember doing laundry, weedeating around the pool and running the dishwasher after supper. The rest of the day is still monotonous and hazy!o_O Today will start with emptying the dishwasher before church and washing bed linen later, the usual Sunday schedule. The plan is to smoke a brisket flat today. First time for that cut of meat for me...I have always done whole briskets before.

Out in the train shed, I finished up my two small projects. The first was to add some minor detailing and figures to a DPM structure called Laube's Linen Mill. I have made it into Great Plains Fertilizer, a local distributor for Coop Fertilizer.

Just adding an overhead light and a small sidewalk outside the door.

And a couple of figures.
1756045286121.jpeg

Then I replaced a couple of missing grabirons on a SD40, which I misidentified yesterday as a P2K engine; it's actually a Kato model.

Unfortunately the mounting holes are too big, maybe I can glob enough paint in there to hide that.
1756045495829.jpeg

Then the hard part, matching the yellow paint. I have ATSF yellow paint from 3 different suppliers, none of which match each other or the paint on any of my locomotives. I picked the closest one, on the 2nd try.

That will do for now, until that day in the future that I finally attempt to weather a diesel.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

Good morning all!

A gorgeous day in store! Currently its 64F heading up to a high of only 72F. No cloud cover to speak of and a really nice breeze.
the A/C went off last night. Rest of the week looks about as good. Low to mid 70s all week for highs.

I'm another one who has some laundry to get done. I will also mow today, and a pool clean-up and chlorine re-stock is in order.

My daughter has her confirmation retreat early this afternoon and into this evening so the wife and I are on our own for dinner.
They will serve her Pizza and breadsticks. We will have Goulash since she hates it and we love it, and never get it.

Going to get some train time in later this afternoon.

Have a safe day everyone!

Otter Valley Railroad, which is a good sized Canadian Hobby store that has many US customers announced that as of Saturday they are no longer accepting nor shipping to any US customers.

I believe your right, things may get crazy!

What do you call goulash? I have seen several preparations called by that name.

My dad made it once when my mom was in the hospital, 60 years ago.

When he set it down in front of me at the dinner table, I instantly became sick. Needless to say, I was excused from the table. Only thing that has ever caused that reaction in me.

Funny what we remember.

Well-- I had an interesting morning after my previous post.
As seems to happen quite a bit here, the power went out during a thunderstorm about an hour ago, and of course my desktop computer turned off. When I rebooted it, it decided it wanted to boot into Linux, which I don't use on this computer. After much cursing and gnashing of teeth, I was able to boot to Windoze, and did some research. It looks like the computer manufacturer added a Linux kernel as a build option, which is in a hidden partition of the computer. When the system got turned off in the middle of what it was doing, it decided it was time to try Linux. I was able to get it to boot into BIOS, and change my preference back to an OS that is actually installed on the computer.

And the monitor now has artifacts and random "things" on the screen. Looks like it was damaged when the power went out, even though I have a whole-house surge protector, as well as a separate surge protector on the computer.
Sigh...

This is what ours looks like. Its fried up hamburger with green pepper, and onion. A can of Garlic and Oregano tomato's and a can of Tomato Juice mixed together.
Boil up a box of elbow Macaroni and mix it all together in a big pot. We let ours sit for about 15 or so minutes after cooking to soak let the elbow's soak everything up. It makes a huge batch and is one of those thing like Chili and Spaghetti that are better the next day as leftovers (IMO). we make a loaf of Garlic Bread with it.

I'm sure its not authentic Hungarian Goulash, but more an American style.

Others Im sure will chime in on how they make it. I believe we have had this debate before! ;)

In Mass such a thing is or at least was called “American Choo Suey”.
