Shows you what I know! 🤪 I love music, but I don't know ... anything about it. All I know is I like what I like. ROck on Dude!

Just informationally

Prog rock. Things like Yes, Rush, early Genesis, King Crimson. Prog is a large category, big tent, and so there are lots of other bands unlike the above that are considered prog. But those are ones you probably may know. A good “prog metal” / “prog rock” band that is more recent is Porcupine Tree. Not that young but newer than the 70s/80s.

Lots of fusion bands but a couple more famous ones; Mahavishnu Orchestra. Return to Forever.
Again big tent. Jazz fusion is literally that. A jazz approach to other type of music or a fusion of them. So jazz guys playing rock or metal or pop or whatever. Mostly jazz guys playing more rock style.

Both tend to turn out long and “pretentious” pieces on part.

Like Yes’s best: Close to the Edge and The Yes Album and Fragile.

ETA. ELP is another famous prog group.

Good morning, all! We missed 100 yesterday by just one little degree. Houston's official weather readings are taken at Bush Intercontinental airport. The airport, like most big airports, is away from the city proper. So, the heat from all the streets, buildings, skyscrapers and traffic don't influence the temperature. However, the folks living and working in those city canyons are really affected.
Last night was the worst. Today it has been spotty, but not near as bad.
I don't normally come to the diner at night, but last night I showed up. I had some very slow reaction times to clicking the "like' button. This has been happening off and on for a few days. IMO not as bad as last time when Bob made the fixes.

Bonanza - We passed by the building that once was Bonanza just last Sunday. It is abandoned now. A bit of graffiti can be seen.

Louis - Looks like I should not have brought the subject up at all. Another blowout loss.

We had a Ponderosa or a Bonanza here in our city (here in Utah) maybe 10-12 years ago. I went there once with a guy from another forum who had just moved to Utah. It's closed now. Not sure when it closed.

When I was younger we would go every once in a while. I remember the wife and I were in Orlando after a convention. This was when we were newly married -- like year 1 or something. We had planned the trip to the convention in Miami then the drive to Orlando for a day or two when I was working but had lost my job by the time we actually went, so we had no money to do anything. But we did "treat" ourselves at Bonanza I think it was (t was one of the two -- whatever was in Florida) and saw some of the free attractions around the city. If I had known I could have sat through a time-share pitch for an hour to get some Disney tickets I would have. But I was not clued in at the time...

Just had a quick running session in the train room.

Don't sweat it. Lose by one or ten it all counts the same.

Your Astros are still in first in American League West. The Astros and the Mariners are each 5-5 in their last ten games. Even if Seattle overtakes the Astros, your boys will be all but a lock for a Wild Card spot. Once the playoffs start it is a new season. The hottest team in the playoffs will win it all. Regardless of what happened in the regular season.

My Birds may be all but mathematically eliminated, but I am still enjoying this season!

Good late morning folks, 96 here already and gonna hit 100 again today. I remember Ponderosa Steakhouses from when I was a kid, we would go on Tuesday nights as it was a special price night. They had the best rolls there. On Hamburger joints, Fuddrucker's is my favorite chain, there's still one in Branson, MO and a Culver's that we really enjoy as well. I like how Culver's has a different flavor of their ice cream each day added to their regular flavors. Culver's also has an excellent fish sandwich. No coffee yesterday and I didn't need Bail Money.

If you're looking for something like that may I suggest a Gerbil? In fact, two males. (Two females don't work well but you can have N males together).

Hamster are nocturnal. They sleep during the day and are up at night. Gerbils are diurnal. They sleep and are up during the day and sleep and are up during the night. So at least you can see them and play with them. I think they're cuter and easier to take care of as well.

For any of them though, don't use pine or cedar or other aromatic wood for their litter/bedding/cage floor. Use aspen. You can buy the shredded aspen at better pet stores. A good 20 gallon or 30 gallon high (same footprint as 20 but with higher walls) fish tank makes a good home.

I had gerbils as kids, but also got a bunch and raised a few as an adult about 25-28 years ago. And we had some with my kids about 10-12 years ago.

At first look, the pop tart looked like sponge.

good to know thank you
I forgot to mention why 2 males and not one. They're social creatures and need the company of their own sort.

Females don't work well together as one will become the Alpha female and try and get rid of the other females. Even without the males around. In fact you can have one female with a group of males and all is well. Though you won't know who the father of the babies is if you're breeding them -- which is interesting with all the genetic colors that have been selectively bred -- but I don't recommend it. They breed quickly (not quite rabbits) and they're hard to get rid of.
