Have a great day!;)

Well howdy there internet peeps

It's Troy again

Listening to the Around the Layout podcast yesterday I learned of OpSig

I'm barely stumbling along in the hobby, still trying to design the Conrail Zombie Apocalypse special part of my layout... but I was impressed that enough hobbyists are into the operations side of the hobby to form a formal organization.

Anyone a member?

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

looks like the heat and humidity are going to return again for a few days. Currently 66F heading up to a humid 90F. Should of mowed
yesterday!

Not sure what I have to do today, Im sure something will crop up.

Daughters first day of high school starts today.

have a safe day everyone!

That's why I drink the zero sugar A&W Root Beer. Not only sugar-free, but no caffeine either.

After my morning wake up Diet Dr Pepper I will switch to caffeine free Zero sugar A/W Root beer. Maybe a caffeine free Diet Pepsi or sugar free sugarless 7up but not anything with caffeine.

I have not knowingly had a Coke product in years and if that’s all they have at a restaurant I will go with water

Good morning Crew.

They have a nice Facebook page. I am also a member of OpSig

Morning, folks. It's 81F and 81% out on the patio. No, that's not a typo. Pretty nice for the moment, but the weather says it'll get to 94F.

Grilled myself another steak, potato, and a nice red bell pepper to eat with the steak last night. Yum!

Didn't get much sleep, unfortunately; went to bed around midnight, woke up around 4AM. I blame the cat; she was trying to cozy in, and woke me up, and my mind wouldn't shut back down.

Discovered that the control panel for my train room cam stopped working correctly; probably a bad solder joint, I'm guessing, given how fast I hacked it together. Have to go chase that down today, which is annoying since I thought I was done with that project. I still need to write that one up, too.

Was going to buy a new mini PC to move all my server stuff onto (because the old rack servers I currently have are frigging LOUD), but there are too many choices. I'm being indecisive about how much I want to spend on that project (and how much performance I really need). Blah. Might take me another week or two at this rate. Won't be time critical until I'm almost ready to build benchwork for the layout; need to get the big cabinet out of that room.

Hoping to get down to some track planning today. I really want to get a good layout going.

And TGIF. Have a good pre-weekend day, everyone!

Good morning Crew. A decent morning. 64f degrees with the app saying the humidity is at 94% even though it sure doesn’t feel like it. It’s rather comfortable on the south deck.

I made a mistake with a box I took to the post office yesterday. Did all my calculations on the USPS site let the weathering client know the price. Got payment and headed to the PO. I was off by $15.45. I re-used one of the USPS marked free boxes for Priority shipping instead of one of my own cartons the same size. Dumb, dumb. I shipped it any way.

I am playing at least 9 holes walking today at the golf course down the street. 1st time walking a course since July, 2024. Should be around 75f degrees when we tee off and 90 minutes later the app says 80 as we climb to 85 for the high.

Good morning gang!

77° in Clayton, North Carolina today cloudy with temperatures expected of 88°. Looks like rain in the forecast for tomorrow.
The trip to Culver’s last night was a success. I had the double burger with bacon and fries and finish it up with a medium chocolate concrete mixture. Wife had the chicken and granddaughter had a single burger with a vanilla cone. The diet root beer was wonderful. I’m not sure what brand it was, but it was delicious.
The kids want to go to a local museum today and then do a little shopping this afternoon.
Does anyone know if there’s a train store in the area?

All these drinks. My head is in a spin.

Flo. A double Scotch please.

Good Morning All. Clear skies and a very warm 78°. Might hit 100° today after 99° yesterday. No rain in the forecast, but that's what it showed yesterday and it rained just east of me. Power surge and outage has knocked out our upright freezer. That will be my immediate concern this morning. Internet says that there may or may not be a reset button, but it means emptying part of it to look! I'll look for the manual first.

The weekly grocery trek went OK yesterday, wife elected to stay home and cleaned the fridge...not the freezer. Scrubbed all of the shelves and stuff like that. Only found one item for the compost pile!. Meanwhile I also got gas, got the car washed, got a haircut and continued to support my local pharmacy. Even with our prescription drug plan, a 30 day supply of the blood thinner Eliquis costs $46. I spent part of the afternoon dealing with a phantom issue with the tankless water heater. Wife said that she ran out of hot water while taking a shower. After removing an overhead shelf and all of it's contents, I tested the heating elements two ways with the multi-meter. All readings were OK. So then I turned all power back on and ran some water and it was hot! I should have done that to begin with and saved a bunch of needless labor. Not sure though, why she got cold water unless she messed with the faucet.
The original plan for this morning was to head out to the tire shop and order new tires for the Accura, since the old ones will not pass inspection. Need to empty the dishwasher but maybe I can pawn that off on my wife while I check out the freezer.

I did not visit the train shed yesterday, as the rest of life got into the way. Tomorrow is finally the memorial service for our friend who passed away last month. Because it's from 1-4, I probably won't get home in time for any train activity tomorrow.

Dave - Do Hummingbirds populate your area. I have several feeders, one visible from the train shed workbench and two others visible from the pool and kitchen; and I enjoy watching the interplay among them.

Gotta go now, the freezer is waiting. Everybody have a fabulous Friday.

Good Morning All!
55F @ 59%, cooler today, maybe 78F bout 1800.

Had the concrete pad staked out for the chicken/goat house...almost. Maria came out and wanted 4 feet added to the length. Grumble, mumble sigh. Reconfigured, which really did not take that long and since the actual forms had not been cut only lost an hour or so. Gonna have to scrape up some of the washed rock for the base for the extra stuff though. 2 more sheets of 2" foam, same for the rebar sheet. Once the forms were in and leveled, found that one corner was way higher than the ground. Geesh, looked pretty flat sitting on the tractor. Fill in time...

Boy, most of y'all seem to be pop addicts. I am a water addict. Well, being how I dehydrate so easy, Gator Aid too. Don't remember the last time I had a pop. Think 4 - 5 months ago with Mug root beer. Maria is leaning more and more to the water drinking thing, has a can of Coke maybe everyday. Way down from before. Now if I could just get her off of coffee after that 1st pot.

Morning all,

Once again not much happening. Got PT in a while. Last "vacation" day before heading back to the office on Monday.

tloc: I'm the opposite with Coke. Don't really care for Pepsi products and will drink water or iced tea.

Karl: Culver's has their own brand of root beer. Unfortunately, I don't think they've allowed it to be bottled yet.

Ah, the lovely art of troubleshooting problems that turn out to be intermittent...

Got the ladder out, moved the server cabinet, and climbed up to check out the camera to see that all the solder joints up there are okay. Realized I'd turned it off when I saw that it was broken, so I turned it back on. And it's suddenly working.

I haven't touched it, and it's working perfectly again.

We'll see how long that lasts...

That almost sounds like a snowpericer prototypical type thing color me intrigued!!!

I probably won't be altering the loco itself. I was more looking at two locations for zombie manufacturing in the region I'm modelling. Only need to "move" or compress two rail lines into one to get the college I want to model into the propper geography.

But the snowpiercer idea might warrant a car ahead of the lead loco for clearing the tracks. "Gotta get this shipment of food, fuel, and ammo to the kids at Goshen College!" (I took a few classes there when I was dabbling in religious studies)... Load her up, boys!
