Wow! Took awhile to read the posts since I posted yesterday morning. We are a very prolific Crew!

Willie, I pay the grandson $30.00 to cut the lawns, takes him 45 minutes with no trimming or using the leaf blower. I do the trimming because Terry wants me out there (unnecessarily so) to watch him, he’s 11 and cuts the grass safely and carefully. So I can’t just stand there in the shade. I was cutting our lawns at home at 10 with a nice LawnBoy brand, it was mom’s pride and joy. Her grass was perfect and I remember getting the talk a few times on how to do the lawns. Anyway after the 1st cutting the g/s goes in to get paid by grandma. Comes out with a $50 and says she gave him a tip as I was too cheap! I stopped her from doing that as not to spoil any more an already spoiled and pampered kid. He is a good kid but has a way to get what he wants. Our agreement was $30 and he needs to understand that’s his pay. I explained tipping is for better than expected service.

Chet, good to see your posting! I miss the pictures that you used to post of your layout.

Troy, is Jim M the MMR Jim Macino out of Columbia City? I watch David Popp, Grivno, Eric White building the East Troy on FB live. They are really pushing to meet the publishing deadlines

I just checked the rain gauge 4.75” +/- since 10 pm last night.

The forecast calls for fairly continuous rains here till Tuesday. Some areas around me may get up to 9” more by 6 tonight. They been predicting this all week and we might just get it. Flash flood warnings till midnight Tuesday

Looks like I’ll be stuck inside today. I’m already antsy! Before kids the wife and I on days like this would lounge around but those intense fun days are long past…

We tried a new to Terry and me a Mexican restaurant last night with the daughter’s family. It was good, huge servings which was nice but I wouldn’t rave about it. That sort of ticked off the daughter but I ignored her rant! I’m glad the serving were huge as so was the bill!

I’m supposed to meet with the pool contractor at the daughter’s place at noon! The blacktop guy was supposed to come out today but cancelled yesterday and I will meet up with him Tuesday. My own real estate projects have been Town approved and tree cutting started this past week. Foundation work will start the 1st week in September. I’m cautiously excited

Enjoy the day

Morning all,

Little bit of rain this morning. Expecting much more overnight into tomorrow. Currently 74° at my location.

State caught a demo contractor they hired doing that a few years back. Contracted to tear down an old state office building. Company fined out of business and owners served jail time and cleanup costs.

Good morning all!

Happy Sunday!

Not a very nice looking day today. Its very cloudy and sure looks like rain. Currently 77F heading up to a humid 85F. Rain is supposed to hold off till early afternoon but looking at the radar its sure looks closer than that.

I volunteer for the local railroad museum and today I have to help park cars for Sweet Corn Fest from 10am-1pm. Its our biggest event to bring money in. We have a big field close to the venue and we can put close to 200 cars in there. Sure hope the rain does hold off till later this afternoon. In all my years doing this, I have never had to do it in the rain and dont want this to be the first year.

Nothing much else going on here.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 74°, maybe hitting 99° later on. Mother Nature keeps defying the NWS in regards to the high and it only reached 98° yesterday. We might cool off a little bit starting tomorrow with highs in the low-90's, maybe not. Overall, it's been a cooler than average summer even with the temperatures reaching the upper-90's since May.

Just an average day yesterday, did laundry, used the weedeater, picked Tomatoes and trimmed back some of the wild Sunflowers that are a nuisance. Today will start with the dishwasher and church before making my 3rd attempt at finding Bubba at home to come assist me with the mower deck. I really should break down and get his cell number!
Stock Market did well last week, made up for the losses from the week before and then some. My retirement accounts just keep going up, more than the RMD's that I have to reluctantly take. Switching to self-management was the best decision I have made in regards to them. I understand now why my since fired advisor kept us in losing ETF's back in 2008-2009 instead of moving funds to cash. His company made a higher percent service fee regardless of whether they made or lost money.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I added a second coat of paint to the concrete street between the fuel distributor and Buffalo Industries. The bleed-thru from the brown originally painted on the plywood just didn't look good.
I ballasted that part of the main line there but forgot to take a picture. Since a good part of it included a switch, I had to be real careful. I'll know today whether I glued it in one position or not.

Chet - Great to see your posts yesterday. I recognize some of the structures as they live on here on my layout.
Patrick - Good to read that the rehab is going so well. Our electricity is overhead wiring, but from the pole to the house is underground. Most of the neighbors have overhead wiring.
Louis - She may be a wonderful wife, but paying the grandkids extra was not called for. Like Tom O posted, I only tip for excellent service.

Everyone have a wonderful Sunday

Think I need to do something to get motivated:

Picked this up at a train show a few years ago. Not even sure they are still in business.

Website doesn't seem to exist any longer. I think I have only a couple of bucks on it.

Good morning all

69 and hazy sun this morning. It is dry here, but the lawn is still growing. Telltale sign of brown patches under the trees in our yard.

I have been cutting and splitting firewood each morning, working on supply for a couple winters out, being in excellent shape for the upcoming one.

The trains are running very well. A few more details to install. Also have a couple buildings to make. General store for Groningen, I have acquired a couple good photos from 1900. Then, wife and I taking a field trip next Saturday to Grantsburg WI to get some ideas for additional structures for that part of the layout.

Super quiet around the neighborhood this morning, A few crows and some chipmunks chirping.

Another cup of coffee then getting ready for church.

I know, right?

I was reading the Diner thread over on MRH out of boredom yesterday. They have 28 posts for the month (as of last night).

We have that or more daily here!

I still visit the MRH forums maybe twice a week. While they have some great modelers they have IMOO too many know it all posters. Post something about DCC there and stand back. A few years ago I was responding in a thread about weathering and graffiti. I had a few guys jump on me about how few modelers in the modern age weather or have graffiti on models.

You have to understand I was doing a bang up side business weathering and doing custom graffiti or using decals on modern freight cars. I tried to explain I knew my market but of course they knew better and I literally didn’t know sh..! I then started tapering back responding to where in the last 5 years I might have 20 responds to threads. I laugh at the Diner there but you know, they enjoy it and that’s fine. I give credit to Joe Fugate that he has a nice business plan and has been able with adjustments to continue to run with it.

In the context of what I learned, in England it is paying a non-municipal company to haul your trash.
Fly tipping here is dumping your trash (without being seen) and not paying anyone to take it away. Therefore the Council has to foot the bill to clear it away.

The people who do it are too lazy to take it to the local 'Council owned Tip'. Which is free.

Nope. Different guy. He's definitely out of Fort Wayne with a different last name. He's not one of your weathering clients based on the fleet of unweathered rolling stock on the layout.

In other news, we had gaming club today. One of the players got to celebrate his 65th birthday with us. We made him a cake. Well, our lone female player did. He claimed to be totally oblivious despite someone asking him what his favorite cake flavor was the week before.

Another player showed up only to pick up some pieces he paid a "pro" painter to do for him. Extremely good job. His army is based on an Arabian nights theme. I'd love to paint the models, but this level of painting is beyond my current skill set.

Unfortunately too many of our players run a lot of Grey Plastic armies. I keep telling them that painted troops win more often...
