Good Morning All. Clear and 73°, possibly hitting 100° later on. Only hit 95° yesterday

Nothing special about yesterday, it started with indoor tasks and afterward I mowed a bunch with the small push mower and removed some downed branches left from Monday's early morning thunderstorm.
Today is the weekly grocery trek. Not sure if my wife is coming along or if any additional stops are needed.

Yesterday I received a voicemail on the cell phone from the utility company in a town about 35 miles south of here. The person mentioned Cristina, who had my cell number years ago. According to AT&T, she relinquished the number in 2013 and I got it in 2018. Seems like she is overdue on her utility bill. I already know a whole lot about this lady from all of the texts and phone calls that I have received. Initially it was mostly doctor's and dentist's offices. There have been two different beauticians; I'm still getting almost weekly texts telling me that my Walmart grocery pickup is ready, several debt collection agencies have called, one car mechanic, and a number of Amazon alerts for whatever have also been received. The real surprise was texts from her mother! One was copied to her sister who finally went over and fixed mom's phone. I have also gotten two texts from former coworkers asking if I would give them a reference, and another inviting me to a retirement party. I know where she worked for a number of years based on a conversation with one of the former coworkers. I know where she lives because I get almost monthly texts and phone calls from speculators who want to buy her property at "xxx your street" in the town where the utility company serves! I know this woman better than I know some of my neighbors of 40 years. The only thing that I don't know is her current phone number!!!

It was also a ho-hum day out in the train shed yesterday. I added more ground foam to the fuel distributor site. That part is almost done. I needed to let what I spread out yesterday dry before I continued. I also ran some trains from one end of the layout to the other. That led to some minor freight car repairs on two cars. One was a car with a failed McHenry coupler! It was in my database as having KD #5's so I wasn't aware of the potential problem. KD #148's came to the rescue. I had changed out all of the ones that I thought that I had last spring.

Patrick - Start making retirement plans now or you will really go nuts when the time comes. I had a boss once who unretired three times because as he put it, "you can only go fishing so many days a week".
Marlin - Good luck with the colonoscopy today.
Joe - It's really great to read that you're doing so well with your recovery.
David - Wonderful news regarding your grandson.

For all of you metal fans out there, today is Bruce Dickinson's 67th birthday. He's the lead singer for Iron Maiden.

Everyone have a great Thursday.

Good Morning: 76°, Sunny, with Smoke Haze, eh? Some 5 consecutive nice days to look forward to, but keep the Albuterol close by.
Speaking of Cats, "Good Golly Miss Molly", aka Molly, is still avoiding me. My right arm still smells like the "people Veterinarian's".
It's still all swollen from IVs and blood draws, bruised and smelling of Heparin.
Currently, I'm Certified Persona not Grata to the Cat.
About to open and read the Homeowner's Renewal (Choke). Car insurance only increased $200, but currently our coverage is one 2008 Caddie CTS, with about 80k original miles. Hate to think what a new car would cost to insure. Something, that may occur in the near future.
Talking about Bionics, I'm beginning to feel like the "Titanium Man"! Titanium Knee---Titanium Aortic Heart Valve----and now a Titanium Spine! If the right knee gets done........Wonder, how much everything totaled up?

Now I have baseball to catch up on. More on that later.
Trevor Rodgers was able to end the Orioles' mini skid, Orioles 5 - Phillies 1. Trevor didn't have his best stuff Wednesday against the Phillies. Despite that he battled for six innings. The Birds’ young bullpen came through and sealed the deal. For me this was Trebor’s most enjoyable of his ten starts this year. I love it when a starter must improvise and still gets it done! That is the trademark of an elite MLB starter.

He is something else that I found to be interesting in Wednesday’s game. Going back as far as 1974, no player has ever started their tenure with a new team with more than eight extra-base-hits, without hitting a single, until now. Alex Jackson, whom the Orioles picked up mid-season in desperation as our corps of catchers was decimated by injuries. After another double Wednesday Alex has now had nine extra base hits (six doubles and 3 home runs) without hitting a single.

I don't know how the Orioles' GM Mike Elias does it. I can't imagine how much time he spends searching for players. I wonder if he gets much sleep. Finding a good defensive catcher is hard enough. Defense being the most important aspect of the position. And find one who can contribute to the offense, in mid-season no less. It would be easier to find a hen's tooth.

My internet is still haphazard. If you haven’t heard much from me, don’t worry. I’ll be back.

Good (early) evening. Back from taking grandchildren to the 'Fun Jungle'. (A kiddies play area.)
Meanwhile I am told oldest grandson is out of hospital!!!. Yes, out. 24 hours earlier than we were told. Dawn and I cannot believe it.

Now life can get back to some sort of normality.
What with Boris home and His Lord Pussycatship is also home , the Diner is getting back to being busy.

Flo. A drink for everyone. Put it on my tab.

Willie-
I got my cell number in 2010 and I get calls for Mr. Jackson to sell his property in Birmingham every couple months. I always tell them I am not Jackson.
The last one asked if I would sell my home? We built the house 8 years ago and I told him we might consider a $500,000.00 offer. He asked about making an appointment to look at the home.
My wife overheard me and said it it not for sale. She is not moving again!
I guess next time I will have to tell them the price is $1 million.

Lord Fuzz of the butt is a wee miffed.

I've covered the feline-sized hole in the basement door, and his escape route is blocked. For now.

We thought we'd keep him in the basement through the afternoon and get him back to using the litter box before he gets access to the rest of the house. Don't worry, he's got a bowl full of kibbles, and a water fountain to keep going with while down here with me.

Vet recommended some Purina Calming Care powdered food additive. Add it to the food each day.

We'll be doing the $95 a month injection with the vet to see if he starts acting less arthritic.

I expect a few more piddles on the carpet. Hopefully we can get him feeling better and back to using one of the 3 Boxes we've got set up.

Good afternoon all,

76 with a light breeze, probably hit 86 today.

Cut and split a nice sized birch tree this morning, will be putzing in the train shed this afternoon.

Saturday is quarry days in Sandstone and we are involved in a few activities, nice weather is forecast.

Yippee I missed the drama, too.

Enjoy your day! Dave LASM

I get the same thing. They want to buy Carlos's barrio property. I text them 540K and its yours, never hear from then again. Where to they get the phone number from? I have had this number for 15 years, and they still think I am Carlos.

Just realized that I let my RMC subscription expire, and I've already toss the renewal missive they've sent me.

Then I remembered why it lapsed...

I get this whenever I go to their website's subscription page.

I know we're talking about people playing with classic train models, but could we come into the internet age?

Went for another walk this morning. Left at the same time as yesterday (9-m) and about the same temperature 82-83F. But the breeze was more mild. There was a breeze but not as brisk as yesterday. Sunny. An hour and a few minutes later and 3.25 miles I was back home and it was 89f.

It’s good for me.
It’s good for me.
It’s good for me.

Anyway. About to drive down to Orem for my daughter’s band practice. After the semester concert in January she bowed out for the next semester as I mistakenly planned our Japan trip for when the concert was so it made no sense to be in the band if you’re not going to be at the concert. And then I got unemployed so we didn’t want afford the money or turn for summer band. Need to conserve cash.

But the band director contacted me last week to see if we’d be interested in a no cost (other than time) 5 week reunion band if the band she was in last fall to play at a special Orem city event in the second half of September. He had been asked by the organizers if he had some bands that could play. She was up to it (I think she misses it some) so we’re going to be doing that for the next month.

Good evening. Currently 69°, and clear. Outlook low of 61°, and clear....perhaps cooler. Have a second blanket available if necessary.
Won't bore y'all with details, but I was quite active today. Light baseball schedule tonight so...not much to do.
I think starting tomorrow, there will be NFL preseason games to watch.
Terry: Be easy on that tooth.
