Same Ol' Buzzard
Good Morning All. Clear and 73°, possibly hitting 100° later on. Only hit 95° yesterday
Nothing special about yesterday, it started with indoor tasks and afterward I mowed a bunch with the small push mower and removed some downed branches left from Monday's early morning thunderstorm.
Today is the weekly grocery trek. Not sure if my wife is coming along or if any additional stops are needed.
Yesterday I received a voicemail on the cell phone from the utility company in a town about 35 miles south of here. The person mentioned Cristina, who had my cell number years ago. According to AT&T, she relinquished the number in 2013 and I got it in 2018. Seems like she is overdue on her utility bill. I already know a whole lot about this lady from all of the texts and phone calls that I have received. Initially it was mostly doctor's and dentist's offices. There have been two different beauticians; I'm still getting almost weekly texts telling me that my Walmart grocery pickup is ready, several debt collection agencies have called, one car mechanic, and a number of Amazon alerts for whatever have also been received. The real surprise was texts from her mother! One was copied to her sister who finally went over and fixed mom's phone. I have also gotten two texts from former coworkers asking if I would give them a reference, and another inviting me to a retirement party. I know where she worked for a number of years based on a conversation with one of the former coworkers. I know where she lives because I get almost monthly texts and phone calls from speculators who want to buy her property at "xxx your street" in the town where the utility company serves! I know this woman better than I know some of my neighbors of 40 years. The only thing that I don't know is her current phone number!!!
It was also a ho-hum day out in the train shed yesterday. I added more ground foam to the fuel distributor site. That part is almost done. I needed to let what I spread out yesterday dry before I continued. I also ran some trains from one end of the layout to the other. That led to some minor freight car repairs on two cars. One was a car with a failed McHenry coupler! It was in my database as having KD #5's so I wasn't aware of the potential problem. KD #148's came to the rescue. I had changed out all of the ones that I thought that I had last spring.
Patrick - Start making retirement plans now or you will really go nuts when the time comes. I had a boss once who unretired three times because as he put it, "you can only go fishing so many days a week".
Marlin - Good luck with the colonoscopy today.
Joe - It's really great to read that you're doing so well with your recovery.
David - Wonderful news regarding your grandson.
For all of you metal fans out there, today is Bruce Dickinson's 67th birthday. He's the lead singer for Iron Maiden.
Everyone have a great Thursday.
