Good morning gang, and T.G.I.F.!!!!!!!

71° and partly sunny, the high only going to 81° today.

Flo, can I get a sausage omelet with some light toast and some coffee please?

No trains last night, my back was killing me so I cleaned and painted the bolts so I can start to reassemble the Cub Cadet's mower deck while I watched stuff on YouTube.

Morning all,

Going to be 95° later. 100's with 105° to 110° heat advisory through Thursday of next week.

Got to go after a couple of the grandkids this afternoon as we're going to have all 4. The local 2 started school yesterday, with the other 2 the middle of next week.

And now they want me to work...

Try to BBL

That Oogie Boogie is awesomesauce! Cant wait to see the rest of them.
unfortunately, there aren't many models of the lesser characters available to purchase as STLs... Only one of the 3 trick or treaters. Yes, it was Lock, the character voiced by Paul Reubens. I've got Sally, Jack, Zero, Lock, and the mad scientist. But he requires some assembly. And other than Oogie, they're fairly low quality on detail. Not as bad as the cheap HO scale figures from China, but close.

Starting my day at 61f, cool to me, but it should reach 95f the afternoon under a sunny sky.
The high yesterday was an even 100f.
My old 2004 Ranger's A/C will "start" to put out a miniscule amount of cooling after 15-20 minutes.
Hence, I try to do my travel in the early A.M. or very late afternoon for the next two months?

FLO - Plate of pancakes this morning with a slice of ham sounds good with a refill on the coffee.
CURT - hope you are better today?
George - sorry to hear of the horse falling and having to be put down!
WILLIE - Is the eye good this morning - hope so!
DAVID - more great photos!

Good Morning All!
79F @ 31% breezy and clear ... so far

Have the Igniters this weekend so today/tomorra is pretty much a no ReDo day. Going down to 'The Gut' this morning to see what cars are lined up so far and get a couple of pix if any. 1800 to 2100 is 'The Cruise', 2100 to ?? is 'Neon and Flame Throwers'. If I stay outa bars, I should be able to get some pix of which I will post a few.

Good Morning All. Clear and 79°, aiming for 111° later today. I only saw 108° yesterday so I should be thankful. The heat wave continues at least for the next ten days, along with the excessive heat advisories. I wonder how long they will still call them excessive before just calling them normal heat advisories??? There's a 6% chance of rain Monday night, not sure why the NWS even includes that in their forecast.
We're still not approaching the record for 100°+ days, as we have only had 36 so far, with at least 10-12 more coming up. The summer of 2011 had 71 days and the summer of 1980 had 69 days. On the other extreme, I had 0-triple digit days in 2021 & 2004, although nearby Dallas had a couple in 2021. Our average is around 20.

The pool though is maintaining an 84° temperature, with the longer nights and fewer hours of direct sunlight to warm it up during the day. It is evaporating at about 750 gallons a week right now though.

The day after cataract surgery exam went well yesterday. This eye has recovered faster then the first. I'm sitting here at the computer without any glasses on, either prescription or readers. I was totally apprehensive about this surgery beforehand, and I really only wanted to eliminate the blurriness/ cloudiness in the outside corners of my eyes. My wife who had both done a few years ago, told me that my vision should improve, but I really only needed readers to begin with. So an added bonus there. What I wasn't expecting and no one told me, was that everything is now much brighter and colors are much more pronounced, even the dying vegetation in the yard is looking better. Nurse recently explained that it's because the 70 year old lens was removed and replaced by a brand new one. Makes sense. As usual, my doctor patted himself on the back for doing such a fine job.
The grocery trek went OK yesterday. While prices are still rising, they're not going up as rapidly; that will change soon as the fuel costs from trucking are going up. Gasoline holding steady at $3.49/gal.

Absolutely nothing scheduled between now and next weekly grocery trek on Thursday except another 15 minute follow-up with the ophthalmologist on Tuesday.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I added details to the farmstead. Not much, but I had to paint some of them.

While finishing this scene up with trees and weeds, I am starting a new project on the workbench. I have a handful of ancient resin Magnuson vehicle kits (put out just after Walther's acquired them), that I purchased over 30 years ago. The detailing was never that great in any vehicles at the time, but they can be made to look OK as background vehicles,
This one is a generic cab-over reefer.

Note that this styrene packaging was clear when I bought it!
Eight parts including 4 metal wheels.
IMG_0217.JPG

Oooops! There's a bit of a bow in the frame.
IMG_0218.JPG

I have been unsuccessful in the past with using either a heat gun or hot water to straighten resin parts out, So I will improvise with filing and shims to see if I can correct it. I'll be using it in front of the recently upgraded RJ Frost cold storage facility, so it will be mainly a straight shot looking at the front end of it. The bow won't be noticeable after my jury-rigging.

No Christmas stuff here yet, but one would think that Halloween was next week when walking into some stores!!!
Karl - Best wishes on the back problem. I don't do well with a lack of sleep.
Curt - Take care of yourself. Get well. Thanks for the comment regarding the Longhorns. They really make my day when I pass by, either walking or driving. The three juvenile's horns are about half size right now and will soon be as impressive as the mama's.
Sherrel - See above regarding the eye. I just wish that he could rejuvenate some other body parts as well as he did the eyes!!!;)

Today is National Fajita Day, but I had already planned to put a pork butt in the crockpot to make pulled pork. It could be put on some tortillas and be similar to fajitas.

Everybody have a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Good Morning. Happy Friday ! Mix of sun and clouds. 76° currently, going to 84°. Around 0300, we had a downpour heavy enough to wake me from a sound sleep. According to the Rutgers reporting station, it was only 0.10". Haven't checked the gauge in the yard.

Willie: Hope your vision has cleared and all is well.

George: Sad story about Maple Leaf Mel. Thoroughbred's ankles and legs are very susceptible to injury, and sometimes trainers push them too hard, especially when they are winning.

Bronx vs. Boston tonight was listed for "Prime", however ESPN now shows it as an Apple TV Exclusive game. Prime TV is the local non cable outlet for the Bronx team, replacing PIX 11 over the air. We shall see. If not someone should have the Gotham Giants pre-season game on over the air. The Queens at St Louis game is on PIX 11 tomorrow afternoon.

Update of my comments, last night, the Queens Baseball Team beat St. Louis, and Cleveland and Philadelphia played to an 18 -18 Tie.

As of right now, I'm not walking as I'm really stiff and sore. If I feel better later, perhaps.

Read an interesting article about President Jimmy Carter, and Rosalynn Carter, on her turning 96, in this mornings Washington Post. He's 99 they are married 75 years, and still plodding along, age related illness / infirmity not withstanding. I was never a fan of his presidency, especially his hostility to Amtrak, his vain attempt at forcing the Metric system down our throats, his cancellation of I-95 between RFK Stadium and the Maryland Beltway, and his mishandling of the Iranian Crisis.. But they have defied logic and confounded critics all these years, and like the Energizer Bunny or a Timex watch, they just keep on going and going.

Train World's latest Marketing E-Mail features Bowser products, including pre-orders for the latest release of their RS-3. It includes three Reading Numbers. TW advertises them as "Hammerheads", and hopefully they are not, as the only railroads to use "Hammerhead" RS3s were the PRR, (later LV and perhaps Conrail), and the WM. A odd combination of Dynamic brakes and Steam generator in the short hood. I will check Bowser's site to satisfy my curiosity. I have one of the initial release PRR units and it is a fine running machine. So hopefully the error is TW advertising, and not with the model.

I received our ANCHOR Benefit application for the next year. It's the replacement for the old Homestead Benefit. This year, for the very first time, I do not have to physically apply for the benefit...since my information is the same as previous years. (From my tax return). Jersey has finally learned to integrate the data they collect, to actually benefit the recipients. Also, we now get an additional $250 just for being over 65. :) I do have to get working on my Property Tax Freeze application, I have until October to get it completed and filed. That should also be automatic.

Have a great Friday!

Willie: I think you will do just fine with them. I have quite a few also, plus the original Magnuson Resin Merchants Row 1 & 2 to build.
I was seriously thinking of using the Chassis of an Athearn Ford box truck and mating it with the box on the cab over refrigerated truck. Everything in the original Magnuson line has been redone in plastic, and Merchants Row is up to #7. Has it been over 30 years, time flies especially when one looks back.
At least you're doing something every day, I'm not, and I should. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Happy to see you are doing so well. Thanks for posting the update.

Afternoon All,

Feeling about the same today, a bit tired and still itchy. Last night I took 50 mg of Benadryl, so I did get 6 hours of sleep. I did send a PM to my VA doc about what is and has gone on this week, but no response back yet. Nothing planned for the weekend. If I haven't heard anything from my Doc by Monday, I'll head to the VA.

David- Thank you. More nice photos.

Joe- Thank you.

Patrick- Have fun with the grandkids.

Sherrel- When I first moved to FL, I had a Mitsubishi PU that didn't have AC. I ended up mounting a fan on the dash that plugged into the cigarette lighter. Pretty Red-Neck but it worked (kind of) until I could afford a vehicle with one.

Willie- Nice detailing. We're starting to see dibs and drabs of Christmas and a lot of Halloween.

Greg- That was a damn shame.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good afternoon, all! We have been busy with the real world. Temps, well you already know the answer to that. Went to the eye doctor for a follow up to the WEG surgery. Turns out my current glasses are now to strong. So, I went and ordered new glasses today. I can function pretty much without glasses, until I get to some of the fine detail work.
Came home and spent a little time on the warehouse kit. Definitely taking more time to build than most kits. Just today, 45 rafter tails needed to be glued to the loading dock overhang,
