Good morning all. A cloudy day with sunshine. Possible rain later to spoil things.
Daughter, SiL and grandchildren stayed overnight in London and are now on their way to Italy. We do not know when we shall see them next. Maybe Christmas.
A friend is over here from U.S.A. She is visiting us today. Therefore I shall be playing teaboy.

Iona in Olden, Norway.

I always love seeing the bow of a ship from the dock. Great angle that shows the character of the ships.

Well howdy there internet peeps, and those who raised an extra glass or two this week.

It's Troy again...

Post-vacation days are usually the roughest on me. And I crashed HARD last night. Started falling asleep in my chair about 8 pm... despite having a two hour nap with the cat prior to that.

Made a tasty steak on the Kamado, wife made her signature cornbread, and we opened a can of green beans for dinner.

Since we didn't go out for meals and get caffeinated sodas, and I've been chugging flavored water of the non-caffeinated variety to get hydrated again, perhaps my body just said "Bye... gotta sleep!"

Wife has running she wants to do today or tomorrow. So I'm waiting to see what the verdict is.

Otherwise, I need to dive back into my latest book. The cruise ship on Lake Eerie hasn't had its murder yet, and the fates of the plot muses are getting antsy... no mystery without a crime. What's a sleuth to do? We can't actually let her have a real vacation! Jessica Fletcher never got one.

In other news, I've begun work on getting my special "Chariot" model together for my Night Stalkers army for the next tourney. Yes, My Charot flies... More to follow later...

Good Morning All. Clear and a cool 67°, but predicted to reach 109° later today. Yesterday's high was only 98°, a nice three-day run below 100°.
The next ten days looks hot!

Note that high temperature tomorrow and Saturday. We're obviously under a heat advisory for a while.

The second cataract surgery went without a hitch, and this eye seems to be doing better than the first one at this stage. Most of the blurriness is gone and the whole world is so much more vivid and colorful now that they both have been fixed. Of course there's that "day after" follow-up this morning at 0830; after which we will make the weekly grocery trek.

Thanks for the well wishes from everyone - they seemed to have worked. Now the three week wait before I am officially sanctioned to dunk completely under the water in the pool. Speaking of the pool, it was a very refreshing 84° yesterday evening. I've been getting in, but not putting my head underwater.

Tuesday morning I took the camera along for my walk, and the Longhorns next door posed for a few pictures.

They share their field with this.

This guy next door has old equipment and vehicles scattered about on display. I should get some additional pictures, but he won't let me (or anyone else) on his property any more.

Out in the train shed the last two days, I continued work on the garden for the farm. I have temporarily set those tomato plants aside for now; partly because my vision wasn't up to it. Mostly though, I am not happy with the look that they will take on when completed.

Meanwhile most of the chickens are adjusting to their new home.

I say "most" because one brown hen flew off onto the floor and I haven't located her yet. It's complicated by the box fan 3' away that probably blew her 5'-6' away. I'll look today after the eye cures more.

Curt - Best wishes on the continued recovery.
Troy - Do you have eight tiny reindeer to pull the chariot???

Everybody have a great day. I gotta go now.

Good morning. It's cloudy and 79.
I accidentally discovered there was a Beyonce concert yesterday evening. I made this discovery when I was sitting in traffic for two hours trying to get to my local electronics emporium to pick up some solder for a project. I didn't make it before the place closed. But then again, neither did several thousand of my new, closest friends that were trying to get to the concert...

If you look in the background, the pilot and the propulsion system are there... gotta find a small Santa hat to print off. And see if I can fashion a Santa coat for the pilot.

I should watch that movie again. Bonus points to anyone who recognizes it.

Morning all,

68° relatively cool degrees this morning with a high in the mid-90's later. Funny how all winter we set the house to 68° and are warm, but go outside on a morning like this and it's almost cold. 😁 Highs back in the 100's with heat advisories to 110° for the weekend and most of next week.

Went home with a migraine yesterday afternoon. Body telling me to slow down. Not enough caffeine lately as I've cut way back on the soda, and no coffee or tea anymore while at the office. Just water, about 3 quarts. I have a 32 oz cup I fill with ice and water and refill the water 2-3 times a day.

Louis: I can listen to ZZ Top all day.

Willie: Hope a fox doesn't get that hen...LOL

Good morning gang!

73° and sunny, going to a high of 87° later today with 75% humidity. Typical for this time of year.

I did get some more cork laid last night, still have another 25 or so feet to go to get to the main yard. Baby steps!

Woke up around 3 a.m. feeling like someone stuck a knife in my back. Not sure what that was all about as I had not lifted any extraneous weights in a while. I might be because the track I was installing was about 3 feet from the edge of the layout and maybe I stretched something, or it could just be my age?? Either way it wrecked any chance of sleep so I just waited until the alarm went off.

Good evening. It's 79 and mostly cloudy.
The political reference has been removed. Thank you for pointing it out
No worries Terry, Louis and I are still in that "question authority" generation. 😀

TomO, keep the house updates coming! Lookin gooooood!

Willie, your neighbor's truck would make an awesome ride! Glad to hear your peepers are making progress!

David, Santa has already hit some department stores here. 🎅 Kids aren't even back at school yet! 🤦‍♂️

It ws around 70F when I got up at 7am. Supposed to get up into the low 90s with 30% possibility of storms. The last few days have been upper 80s or low 90s but we had a week previous respite from the 90-100s of July where it was 70s up into low 80s.

With a few exceptions August has not been the greatest month in the stock market. I have 3 options (spreads) positions closing tomorrow. All are OTM (out of the money), which for these positions is good, but 2 of them are getting close to the strike of the "sold" option, which is bad. Hopefully all 3 will close OTM so I can put the money that was being held in them back into my reserve "roll" fund. I'm down a little bit in the reserves due to a bunch of rolls last week for stuff that was closing tomorrow that we took care of already as it was ITM (in the money), which for spreads is bad.

Good afternoon. It’s partly cloudy and 92.
Murphy seems to have found me Again.
Where I work, they offer wifi, but it is slow and restrictive in the extreme, preventing such normal things as email apps on my phone and tablet. Luckily, I have a nice tablet that is cellular capable, so I signed up for a data plan through Verizon A couple of weeks ago. For the first week, everything went well. Then yesterday morning, my phone, which also uses Verizon, stopped being able to utilize cellular data. Then yesterday afternoon, my tablet couldn’t connect using cellular data. Using wifi on both devices works, though I can’t do things like check my email.
Several calls throughout the day, and yesterday evening after I got home from my botched parts-gathering excursion, showed nothing wrong with my devices or the network. Both phone and tablet work great anywhere but where I work. And I got the data plan for the tablet specifically for using at work.
After several more calls today, and some really deep digging by Verizon, we’ve discovered my work is now actively blocking all data using the Verizon network, and the Verizon network only. Nobody can tell me why. SO, I wasted $40 on a data plan for my tablet. I called our IT department and left a message about it, no response yet.

How are they doing that? I doubt your company has the tools to block a specific provider. They may be able to block all cell signals in a given frequency band though I am not sure the legality of that.
