Good afternoon. It's partly cloudy and 93.
I received my new health insurance bill from the government marketplace, showing my premiums will be covered by my standard tax deduction, and the policy will take affect 9/01 in North Carolina.
There are three problems with that.
First, I have insurance through my employer, not healthcare.gov.
Second, I never applied, somebody else did, and is trying to collect the $$$ from the government.
Third, I don't live in that state, which is the only state the policy is valid.
The Feds are on it, though I doubt anything will come of it, other than canceling the policy I didn't have anything to do with. The person I spoke to at the government said this happens more than you think, but most people don't find out about it until they go to file their tax returns the following year, and find out their standard deduction has been wiped out by the premiums.

Baaaaack Hoooooooome again, iiiiiiinnnnn Indiana.....

That was a long day of traveling. On the road about 7:30am from Hamilton Ont... Took the very scenic route to visit Port Rowan Ont on the shores of Lake Erie.

In my Canadian novels, my little fictitious town is slightly bigger than Port Rowan, a bit inland, and a bit farther north, but not much. And, there is a fictitious Timmie's in the area that I didn't notice on our drive.

So I wanted to visit Port Rowan to get a feel for it. Already found several mistakes I've made in reference to it. Being there in person vs looking at Google Maps really helps.

What we saw, other than the really big lake, on the drive was pretty much like Indiana... but with a few less towns. The spaces in between places in Ontario are a bit bigger than Hoosierland.

Here's a pic of me with that great lake... Yes, my razor was dull and had a clod of stubble stuck between the blades and I knicked my lip twice with it. Darn disposables!

And the wife, exploring the one-street-downtown of the town:

Terry, I'm flabbergasted! I can't imagine the effort these people put into figuring out these swindles. Not to mention their intelligence. If they had any sense of morality, they would use their talents to easily make an honest living.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and a cool 71°, just going up to the mid-90's today and tomorrow. Yesterday was 92°, a welcome respite. Tonight and tomorrow, it may go into the mid-60's. The high from Thursday through Saturday is forecast to be 109°. No rain in sight.

With the cooler temperature this morning, I will review the garden and see whether or not it is worth salvaging the tomato plants for the fall. Generally they can be cut back to 24" and they will generate new fruit-bearing shoots from there.

I guess that the additional ultrasound tests went OK yesterday, the technician didn't go screaming out the door looking for the doctor, who I think was on vacation anyway judging from the almost total lack of office staff. The technician is not allowed to tell the patient anything and this guy never gave a clue in the past.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued with the farm project. I finished the ground cover with a space left for the garden.

There is more needed like trees and weeds where appropriate, and I already have a handful of other details ready. But I turned my attention to the garden. I have a Walther's kit that my grandsons gave me for Christmas 2021 that I have used part of for past projects.

There's far too much stuff in the kit to use in one place, and "overgrown" can be misleading anyway. Specifically I am starting with some lettuce and cabbage plants. Here's the first lettuce plant planted.
View attachment 172921
The cabbage plants are in three pieces to be assembled.
View attachment 172922
Here's eight of them ready to plant.

Today I will be tackling the tomato plants.

We'll see if they are any better than the ones I have previously made with pieces of WS underbrush and dabs of red paint, seen on the left here.

Tom O - The Ophthalmologist is already bragging on what a good job he did, on both of the follow-up visits so far.
Enjoy the golf vacation and hope that you have had a safe trip so far.

Sure is a lot of scuttlebutt about the Maui fire floating around on the Internet; no advance alarms, no water pressure to fight the fires, power company not turning off the power, and now developers wanting to scoop up desperate folks land. Sadly I don't believe that it will all get sorted out for years to come.
For Catholics out there, today is the Feast of the Assumption, don't forget to go to Mass.

Everybody have a great day.
The brother has a few sad stories about the Maui speculators. He dislikes government but feels they need at do at least a 90 day hold on selling property Initiated since the fires. He says he was approached to join a group of buyers but declined

Good evening, just after 9PM here on Cape Breton Island. The golf was ok, the course was spectacular and the views awesome. Checking in after dinner but I am exhausted. The cell phone is annoying to type on but reading on it is fine

enjoy the evening

Louis - 10-1 Padres middle of the 7th.
As I was saying - When they are hot - they are good, but just does not last?
Thanks for the rundown on the stats. I can no longer remember stuff like that!
Can't keep my eyes open - I WILL CHECK IN THE MORNING AND SEE IF THEY FOUND A WAY TO BLOW IT!
All those runs and one of the best starters, Wacha in MLB on the hill. That will pad the run differential, but only counts as one win.

Another top-notch starter is going for the Padres this evening. I'm hoping the birds find a way to win as they so often do.

Yes. Even if a story is fiction, get the neccessary facts correct. I am sure you already know, Troy - Although the real towns around the ficticious one are big the main parts are well known. naming real parks, rivers, highways, railroad stations, all draw the reader into the story.

Good morning all. A cloudy day with rain not far away.
Dawn is not feeling 100%, so I am playing Nurse.

Columbus in Lisbon. Not only has this ship gone to the scrap yard during Covid, so has the company it belonged to.

Is the bridge the more important than the train? 😁

An early Good Morning to All. Clear and 67°, somewhat incredible that it's in the 60's here in August.
Can't stay and chat this morning, the cataract surgery for the left eye is at 0730 this morning and the clinic is 35-40 minutes away after I get ready. Mostly my wife has to get ready, since while I can drive there, I can't drive home. Actually looking forward to this one after the first one went so well.
Everyone have a great day.

Good luck with eye #2.

Good morning gang!

72° and sunny, high temp of 85° expected!

Flo my dear, IV coffee today please!

Work was hectic yesterday, then had to run parts to #1 son so he could fix his mother's lift chair, then dealing with the 2 dogs.

I did manage to get the last of the main line sub-roadbed glued in place last night. (YAY!) I'm going to try to get the last of the mainline cork done tonight, then start building yards, sidings and spurs.

Finally made it to triple digits yesterday and I could really feel it; with the very low humidity (I forgot to look) it actually hurt to breathe it was so dry. Topped out at 101 with PC skies.
Today is forecast at 100 with possible TS - there seems to be some sort of atmospheric phenomenon called monsoon which sparsely produces a few large scattered wind and rain clouds.

Spent the afternoon looking at quartz and granite slabs for countertops; the Spousal unit is serious about the kitchen workover. Amazingly, true to fashion, she walks in the warehouse and picks out the most expensive marble slab in the building God love her!
She laughed and told me of the time when she was 15 YO and her father took her shopping for a new bathing suit. She walked up to the carousel with all the suits and said, " I like this one".
Her father said, " I guess you would; it is the most expensive one on the rack"!
Some things never change.

FLO - Just a breakfast sandwich and a Diet Dr. P this morning - please!

P.S. We are not getting the $5,200 marble slab because I did not win the "billion plus" lotto, but it was the first one she spotted!
