Guess what this is.

Good afternoon, all. Hot, say no more. Got the yard mowed, still needs edging, made a HD run for a few honey-dos. I did manage a little time in the train room. Some progress made on the warehouse. I dislike windows and this kit has 33 of them. Every opening needed to be filed or sanded. Not one was just pop in the window. So now rafter tails are being added. These windows are so small, a dozen of them can be laid out in a square inch.

Troy - Like the pictures of the falls. I was about 12 when I saw them. I wanted to ride "The Maid of the Mist", but mom didn't want her and my sister to get soaked. Does the "Cave of Winds" still exist? Another soaker.

The cave of the winds????

We only heard of the tunnel under the hydro power plant. It was windy enough. but in a good direction so we didn't bet more than slightly damp from the mist....

Greetings All -- Missed a couple days and hurry read the past pages, so forgive me for not commenting on many of the items.
67 degrees this morning and only supposed to reach 80 (was 81 high yesterday).
It has been very cloudy for now three days, but only a smattering of raindrops - just enough to dirty the wind screen.

I have been attacked by something? Started with a severe head cold that I was able to beat back - now, yesterday my throat started swelling and hurt like crazy when I tried to swallow.
Went to bed last evening without eating - just couldn't swallow.
It is better this morning, but still have some soreness. The throat problem just sprang up from nowhere yesterday afternoon and very quick?

GTW - thanks for the link for the ovens. Spousal unit was impressed, however, she said that she wanted one of the ovens to be larger - not the same.

Well, it is late morning here as it is - so going to cook myself up a bowl of grits with a couple eggs up on top. That's about all I feel like eating with my throat problem.
FLO - Sorry to stiff you this morning - please put everyone's coffee on my tab!
I'll be back later.
Sherrel take a look at Lowe's they have a Forno Galiano side by side they are different sizes

Had to look it up as I wasn't sure of the name.
The Cave of the Winds was a natural cave behind Bridal Veil Falls at the Niagara Falls. The cave was some 130 feet (40 m) high, 100 feet (30 m) wide and 30 feet (9 m) in depth. It was discovered in 1834, and originally dubbed Aeolus 's Cave, after the Greek god of winds.

I'm not griping and this is not a rant but wasn't a new thread started for Willies layout pictures so they would not have to be posted in the coffee shop? Just saying.........
No, the separate thread is for all the people that were complaining about having to come to the coffee shop to view his pics.
I will continue to update the day to day activities and projects here in the Coffee Shop as I have done for several years. The new thread is more of a documentary of completed stuff, and as Terry posted, it is for those who don't frequent the Coffee Shop. I anticipate that it will take a couple of years to go through the entire layout.

Now he gets it, you don't have to strike out everybody!

Well, I exercised my veto power today. Hope I don't get voted off the island tonight.

Leaving Niagara falls at about 2pm, after walking enough that the apple watch says I did just over 15,000 steps already, she suggested we stop in a local distillery on the way back.

Mind you, this is a "just killing time to avoid sitting in the hotel room" tactic. She HATES Whisky. And if I'm driving, I'm not going to be doing any tastings.

I said no. No distillery tour/tasting. I want to go back and put my feet up, so the dogs stop barking at me.

We did make it to the falls. Went up the Skylon tower (think space needle) and took lots of pics before we walked down to the Falls. Went and got lunch after that on Clifton St. VERY NOISY touristy trap place. Like a loud Las Vegas strip experience. I think the place was Montana BBQ??? I had the Brisket Sammy, wife had MacNCheese (not "Kraft Dinner" variety, but good, goody macNcheese. Then back to the space needle because their gift shop had the best prices on souvenirs. Got a ball cap that says CANADA with a maple leaf, a coffee cup with a moose, and a shot glass (wife's).

Then we got in the car, and drove to the Niagara Falls Power Station... big mistake. Didn't realize it was as close as it was... So we paid another $35Canadian for a second time parking (first time near Clifton St. was $20 Canadian)

Paid for the self-guided tour, and tunnel access. The tour, meh. Hoover Dam was more impressive. The tunnel however... 2,200 feet at 180 feet under street level, and the view was the best! I'd say better than the boats! We were close enough, without getting drenched like the 700 people on each boat.

Niagra Falls, slowly I turned, step by step inch by inch .....

Good afternoon all. A cloudy day wit rain forecast later.
No grandchildren for a few days so catching up on things.

Oceana was laid up in the Port of Tyne over Covid lockdown. Six days after I took this picture she was sold and has since been scrapped.

My layout used to be 'based in Scotland'. A Engineers carriage from that time in 'North British Railway, Cowlairs livery'.
I haven't the heart to alter it to Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway colours.

Good morning gang!

75° and partly sunny, heading to 88° with 86% humidity (yech)

We're babysitting the grandog this week, after a day or two of intermittent tensions between them, a sense of peace has finally been established between the grandog and the cat. Macy (the dog) is just 1 year old and full of puppy energy and curiosity and the 6 year old cat cannot understand who the interloper was. After all, it is HIS house, he just lets the border collie and the hoomans live there.

Karl - Is that your laundry to the left???

Yes, I've gotta get on the maids a$$ about that!

Well, back to work for now, BBL

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and a cool 71°, just going up to the mid-90's today and tomorrow. Yesterday was 92°, a welcome respite. Tonight and tomorrow, it may go into the mid-60's. The high from Thursday through Saturday is forecast to be 109°. No rain in sight.

With the cooler temperature this morning, I will review the garden and see whether or not it is worth salvaging the tomato plants for the fall. Generally they can be cut back to 24" and they will generate new fruit-bearing shoots from there.

I guess that the additional ultrasound tests went OK yesterday, the technician didn't go screaming out the door looking for the doctor, who I think was on vacation anyway judging from the almost total lack of office staff. The technician is not allowed to tell the patient anything and this guy never gave a clue in the past.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued with the farm project. I finished the ground cover with a space left for the garden.
IMG_0184.JPG

There is more needed like trees and weeds where appropriate, and I already have a handful of other details ready. But I turned my attention to the garden. I have a Walther's kit that my grandsons gave me for Christmas 2021 that I have used part of for past projects.
IMG_0179.JPG

There's far too much stuff in the kit to use in one place, and "overgrown" can be misleading anyway. Specifically I am starting with some lettuce and cabbage plants. Here's the first lettuce plant planted.
IMG_0181.JPG

The cabbage plants are in three pieces to be assembled.
IMG_0180.JPG

Here's eight of them ready to plant.
IMG_0182.JPG

Today I will be tackling the tomato plants.
IMG_0183.JPG

We'll see if they are any better than the ones I have previously made with pieces of WS underbrush and dabs of red paint, seen on the left here.

Tom O - The Ophthalmologist is already bragging on what a good job he did, on both of the follow-up visits so far.
Enjoy the golf vacation and hope that you have had a safe trip so far.

Sure is a lot of scuttlebutt about the Maui fire floating around on the Internet; no advance alarms, no water pressure to fight the fires, power company not turning off the power, and now developers wanting to scoop up desperate folks land. Sadly I don't believe that it will all get sorted out for years to come.
For Catholics out there, today is the Feast of the Assumption, don't forget to go to Mass.

Everybody have a great day.

Good morning. House is full again.

80° and sunny (for now). 30% chance of T-Storms after 1500. Overnight's 90% probability of Heavy Rains - with flash flood warnings fizzled with an actual 0.01" recorded.

I slept in this morning, after yesterday's marathon. (BJ's, ShopRite, and a 20" walk = 4700+ measured steps - converted to 2.08 measured miles or about double my normal routine. I realize that that is significantly less than Troy's forced march around the Falls, but...for someone who was pretty much house bound a year ago...not bad, eh? Now my competitive nature, will cause me to get up a higher level...

Today's humidity will make out door activity more uncomfortable, even though the temperatures are more than reasonable. so I may spend time in the train room. There is always something to do.

Last night's surprise, the Mets won 7-2 for their second consecutive win...alright, it was Pittsburgh, but maybe their snit over the selling at the trade deadline is over, and they will show some effort while playing out the season... Lindor, was especially productive last night, with phenomenal heads up base running. In other news, the Yankees lost badly again... The Bronx Team is really not into it this season... Louis already commented on Baltimore's Baseball team and their win in Seattle.

Karl: Nice progress on your layout. The Cat is Not Happy, but showing restraint...He also is holding the High Ground. Here the old doggie has run of the house, this week, and Madam Disagreeable, is confined to the Master bedroom. She is not pleased! 😾

For Catholics out there, today is the Feast of the Assumption, don't forget to go to Mass.
For Protestants out there today is the Feast of St. Mary, Mother of Our Lord, (Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod) and the feast of St. Mary the Virgin, (Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion).

Afternoon All.

I think I told you last night I was feeling better but today I rebounded into a stuffy head, sneezing, coughing, runny nose and some fatigue. I think the fatigue is from not sleeping well at night. I was supposed to meet up with friends tomorrow, but I canceled. No sense of passing it on to others.
Nothing in my immediate future besides trying to get well.

Joe- I like your new avatar.

Terry- The dump truck should be named the state vehicle.

David- Nice photos.

Willie-Interesting garden project. Is the grass Static Grass?

I hope everyone has a good night.
