It reminds me of the Ravens in 2006 when they traded for Steve McNair. The Ravens finished 13-3 in the regular season. By the playoffs teams realized McNair could no longer throw deep outside of the hash marks. In the Ravens first playoff game the Colts played a "dome" defense ignoring the deep pass to the sidelines. The Ravens lost 15-6.Can gang Green do it?
Willie, I'm sorry for your loss.Sad day today on the SFW estate. Before I left for the weekly grocery trek, I took three 1 1/2" thick pork chops out of the freezer for grilling tonight. Imagine my dismay and surprise when I got home and found that while I was gone, my wife stuck them in the crockpot with onions and mushrooms! While the meal itself wasn't anything to complain about, it should have been made with some of the 1/2" thick boneless ones that were still in the freezer. I guess it's my fault (her words) that I didn't let her know ahead of time. It wasn't worth arguing! On the other hand, 1 1/2" thick pork chops never deserve to be in the crockpot! That's the difference between men and women.

I'm glad to hear all went well!Good evening, all. Not a lot to report on from H-Town. I had the WEG laser surgery this morning and with my eye dilated most of the day no progress on the Motrak warehouse. I sat quietly with my eyes closed. Yes, I got several cat naps in. I guess because the cloudy vision comes on slowly one doesn't seem to notice until it's gone. Quite a difference. Groceries tomorrow and time allowing a little train time.

This was a prime example of a team losing focus as to what their mission was. Their focus was on gender politics, not soccer, so they were vulnerable to a less talented team that wanted to play soccer and win .Winning in any sport is not easy and never guaranteed. The US women's world cup team is the latest example.
Rodgers has the arm and at the end of the season has always had a strong arm. Defense and special teams is actually what won the Super Bowl he is credited for. He is an awesome QB in the regular season. Come playoff time he becomes very timid and becomes a short zone passer, not at all liked the Pack played in the regular season. Season after season through 2 different coaches this occurred so it wasnāt a one time thing! It reminds me of the Ravens in 2006 when they traded for Steve McNair. Bottom line: if Rodgers still has enough arm strength at the end of the season the Jets have a chance.

It definitely beat out the severe lack of eye candy at the grocery store yesterday morning.Willie, I'm sorry for your loss.
In the grand scheme of life if that was the worst part of your day, thank God.
Willie, the steel is here for the lap pool. Yes, eventually it will be covered and hopefully by November 1. The current hold up is the steel erection crews are busy and this is a 1 day job for them. They just finished erecting the steel and wall panels at the local ice rink addition here in town. I was told once that is done they had a few 2 to 3 days jobs and they would come and install. They did have a person come by and double check last week that all the materials are here. They were. Everything else is on the ground here waiting for that to happen. The roof is about a 4-5 day job and the side of glass on the south wall is 1-2 days. The other 3 walls my contractor says should be around 5 days. Those materials are in his warehouse out of the weather.Good Morning All. Clear and 86°, somewhat warm this morning. It was just 101° yesterday, a lot closer to a normal August 10th temperature. The weather geeks at the NWS are really going out on a limb by predicting the high next Tuesday of only 98° and an overnight low of 71°. Seeing is believing. That could mean turning off the A/C's when I get up in the morning. Otherwise 108° by Sunday and 106° later next week.
The weekly grocery trek pretty much went as planned yesterday, but I noted that the grocery store prices had crept up on many items, especially produce and canned goods. Pork products seem to be very slightly lower while beef prices were stable. Chicken went up considerably a few weeks ago and has not come down. It will go up again very soon now that Tyson is shutting down four processing plants. In years past, they would keep plants open and prices went down for everyone due to oversupply. Not any more!Gasoline was up for the 4th or 5th week in a row, now at least 30Ā¢/gal more than a month ago. B**enomics is not working for me.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I did get some more fencing installed, completed the north (layout point of view) and part of the south side.

Hmmmh! I need to clean off the camera lens!

The farmhouse that I am using has a screened in back porch, along with several screened windows.

Unfortunately it blocks the view of the couch and refrigerator that I have on the back porch.
Tom O - I have been reading about the devastation in the Lahaina area, near total loss. and the number of deaths is overwhelming. I am sure that our president will send them some of our money, since that state is run by his party.
Is your pool indoors yet? It seems that I read that it would be the plan.
Curt - I have used toothpicks many times before, but they're usually only good for larger holes. Sometimes losing track of the hole location when either inserting the toothpick or the ultimate fence post has been an issue. Maybe the new eyes w/Optivisor will help in the future.
Hughie - Good luck with the recovery.

It definitely beat out the severe lack of eye candy at the grocery store yesterday morning. But that was my fault for going 30 minutes earlier than normal, didn't have to wait on my wife to get ready!
Looks like a warm weekend here. Everyone have a great day and a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and hydrated.
Tom, what you have experienced is the best thing to happen to an eBay seller. 2 or more people fighting over an item with a bidding war. When I used to sell on eBay it amazed me how this happens. Have people lost their minds? Is it a game of one upmanship played with dollars? Or is it a fear of losing out on something that drives people to keep bidding? I don't know, it just made me happy as a seller when things went higher than expected.I recently started selling HO weathered freight cars via EBay to minor success. My Facebook 1st time buyers are way way down. So I am trying EBay. Question is to the EBay buyers here. DO YOU check anywhere else before buying on Ebay. The items I have sold are a minimum $30 more than the prices I list on FB? On one car the bidding made the car $110 more then what a very similar one I sold on FB. I am happy but has society become this lazy?
Thanks for the response Karl. I am selling by auction with a buy now option. The minimum acceptable bid covers my costs and ebay fees. I stayed away until a few months ago because of fees. One of my weathering clients talked me into trying it and the first car I put up did not sell. He said cover the EBay fees with the acceptable bid and hope for the best.Tom, what you have experienced is the best thing to happen to an eBay seller. 2 or more people fighting over an item with a bidding war. I quit selling on eBay when they had a drastic increase on eBay's fees, especially when FB market place had no fee. How bad percentage wise have they gotten by now? IIRC it was around 17% with listing fees and final value fees.

Just out of curiosity, what is your item number? Thanks for the response Karl. I am selling by auction with a buy now option. The minimum acceptable bid covers my costs and ebay fees. I just donāt understand though folks not checking around before bidding. But, I am happy for it. Of the 7 items I have now listed, 2 did not sell, 3 went at the buy now crazy $ amount, 1 went to the end with bids and 1 is out there now.
