GEORGE Verry sorry to hear of your accident - just glad that you were not injured. Tin can be re-bent, bones not so much .. especially older ones!

The Spousal Unit is doing her planned kitchen makeover (in the planning stage). We had a 48" Jenn-Air double oven in our prior home and she wants it back 15 years later!
At this time all options are on the table! Do you know the make of that oven that you showed in the photo of the heating unit? I have been looking for an hour and cannot locate one that has the 2 equal offset doors. Appreciate any help if you know?

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those wondering what Jaz has been up to

It's Troy again... Coffee FLO, and a box of Mel's knock-off TimBitz

Nothing much to report. I'll get my ears lowered later today, in prep for vacation (or because I just plain need a haircut)

I know there's a thread for "What are you listening to" but it's early and I'm already listening...

I love Jazz, and have been exploring the field some. I've got a Pandora subscription, but their various jazz stations all overlap heavily with the same artists. The Tubez of U, however, has a lot of independent content providers. I'm grooving the upbeat style in the Acid/Funk Jazz channels. And the screen graphics aint half-bad either.

And, the astute will notice how I tied this post into my opening line. ;)

Back later!

Good morning all. Although a cloudy day, the temperature is rising. Yeah!!!

The Falls of Shin, Lairg, Scotland. Note the different colours of green in the trees and bushes. The minerals in the rocks changing the colour of the water.

Morning all,

Not much going on yet. Had to promise yesterday not to break things further during the preliminaries to the new servers. In trying to make things as smooth as possible, I've managed to kill access to a citywide shared drive and some people's ability to remote desktop to their computers.
I'm going to attempt getting the data moves and subsequent reprogramming done from home. Moving the actual data is hard, just time consuming. For the most part, the data is already on the new servers. Just have to do a final copy and reset the drive maps to point to the new server. Faster to type about it than actually do it. Quickest data move is 6.5 hours. Then I have about 100 individual accounts to point to the individual user drive. Also not hard, just time consuming. I love me some overtime!

Currently 66° and clear with a high in the low 90's later.

Troy: Interesting music selection. I have linked to the youtube account for further listening.

Good Morning All. Clear and 74°, heading up to just 104° after 105° yesterday. Clouds rolled in yesterday afternoon and we eventually had a thunderstorm just after dusk that left 0.35" in the rain gauge. About all that did was settle the dust, maybe until early afternoon today.
Yesterday the pool temperature started at 84° and only rose to 87°. That's actually about average for this time in August, given the decreasing day length. I miss not being able to dunk under, but doctor's orders are what they are. I understand his concern about pool chemicals and the healing after the cataract surgery, but he allows showers and shampoo! Technically that restriction will be lifted on 9/6, three weeks after the other eye. If this year is like most others, I should still be using the pool until about 9/25 or so.

It must be Thursday on the SFW estate, the fridge is quite empty so it must be the weekly grocery trek today. Even the freezer is looking sparse, but I will wait for the right opportunities to bulk-purchase meats. Additional stops today at the Vitamin shop, the pharmacy and Sam's Club for charcoal and hearing aid batteries. Plus, my wife will go wandering and fill up a cart.

I spent some time yesterday morning before the heat, weedeating around the pool and did some other minor tasks in the yard. Today, the dishwasher will wait until I return from the grocery trek to be emptied.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I started a long overdue project. This spot is between two other farms and is approximately 23" x 20" x 11".

I originally had an ambitious plan for a pole fence here, but I removed those posts yesterday because the Woodland Scenics barbed wire fencing is so much easier.
I have had structures available for quite some time.
IMG_0145.JPG

The laser-cut wood house and barn both came from American Model Builders, the red-roofed outbuildings are ancient kits from Plasticville and the windmill is from Walther's. Tentative building arrangement looks like this.
IMG_0147.JPG

I got started with the fence along the railroad ROW first.
IMG_0148.JPG

I usually put ground cover down first before putting fencing in, but it is really hard to find the holes that I drill for the posts when I do it that way. The mounting pins on these posts are 0.026" and I am drilling 0.030 holes with a pin vise. In this case, I have a chance to reverse the steps and see how it turns out.
There will be cows in that back pasture.

David - I have no problems with Amazon drivers any more. They used to have issues because no one around me (me included) has their address on their homes. they fixed their system a while back, so when a driver finds the right place, he "pings" his location so all subsequent deliveries go to the right places. It also helps me in that the closest next door neighbors are over a quarter mile away; that's 0.4km to you.

I spent a little time before dawn this morning looking at the Perseid Meteor Shower, It was good for 1-2 meteors a minute in the direction that I was looking, which is north. For more info and some geeky stuff, read this.

Everybody have a great day.

Good morning. 76° and cloudy. Heavy rain is 90% possible after noon. Predicted high 82°. Rain ending tonight. Good day to do inside chores.
Baltimore's baseball team lost badly again...Mets actually won a game...Phillies won...7 - 0 over Washington, No hitter by Michael Lorenzen....Yankees lost...Steinbrenner say's Cashman stays, Boone is gone at the end of the year.........Brandon Hyde should polish his resume.....
Spending my train time actually running trains or packaging stuff. I'm subconsciously planning my next layout, before I even know how much room I will have. Have to decide what I want to keep, and what I am willing to sell. Life is full of twists.
I have floors to vacuum in preparation for the visit by the Grandchildren...

Good morning from Wisconsin. A beautiful morning with full sun, wispy clouds where there are clouds and a nice breeze. The high today will be 82 and it is 77f degrees now.

Had the ears lowered a 1/2”. I will be back again in 6 weeks. Picked the granddaughter up and we went to her favorite QwikTrip for her favorite long John along with 1 each for me and grandma! She is here till mid-afternoon. She and grandma are in the kitchen making brownies with M&M’s added. Hockey this evening at 6:30 for the grandson.

Gas today was strange. $3.69 per gallon at the 2 downtown gas stations. The one we got the donuts at is 1 mile west of the 2 downtown, right off the State HWy 151 exit is $3.59 but the Casey’s near the house is $3.44. Normally they are all the same.

I will be heading off to stop and see the daughter’s friend. She and her hubby built a slot track last month of my design and followed my instructions with not a lot of help from me. They are having trouble with one of the lane switching sections. I started Saturday putting together a new one and it’s basically a drop in if we need to replace the one having issues.

Spoke to the brother again. He is fine but the Lahaina area is devastated. Most of the businesses on the Island are closed or operating reduced hours due to no show employees and supplies cut off. He said people who talked to are worried they won’t rebuild the Lahaina business/tourist area. It’s one of the most visited sections on Maui.

The son is leaving around 11 to the airport. After he leaves I am going to hit some golf balls and head out.

enjoy the day

EDIT: 2.5 hours later

I am back from visiting the slot car track. Minor adjustment after re-attaching a servo wire. It was a questioned I asked, is the section getting power, answer yes! Reality was, no it wasn’t. The granddaughter is staying until we leave for the hockey game. We are going in the pool in a few minutes. still a bright beautiful day

Afternoon All,

Checkout today was at 10 am and it was a 30 min, drive home so we are all back to normal here. We had a really good time with just the two of us and Dad not dominating our lives to a great extent, but he's family so what can you do. Tomorrow is back to walks and the retired grind!:D

David- Nice pictures.

Willie- Nice scenes. Could you use toothpicks in the holes while you do ground cover?

Joe- Nice photo. Hopefully you will have plenty of room for the new layout.

TomO- I hope your family and friends are safe along with their property on Maui. The videos around Lahaina are unbelievable.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Thank you Curt, much appreciated.

The brother has a couple friends who lost houses in West Maui but are personally ok staying with other friends. Terry did lose one of her horses. A horse she has had about 15 years. Not sure if the excessive smoke was the issue or it’s just a coincidence.

Her trip back to the islands on the 14th is delayed with nothing able to be scheduled via the airlines at this time. Getting Maui back to normal I think is years away but most of the island is ok.

Tom

I love day games, especially when the birds win!

The defending World Series Champions Houston Astros showed me, and the Orioles they will be a factor in this year's playoffs. The Astros are only one game back in the wild card race. They are only two and a half games behind Texas in the AL West. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on the Astros making the playoffs!

Most consecutive multigame series without getting swept
1. 1942-44 Cardinals: 125
2. 1903-05 Giants: 106
3. 1922-24 Yankees: 83
4. 2022-present Orioles: 76

Sad day today on the SFW estate. Before I left for the weekly grocery trek, I took three 1 1/2" thick pork chops out of the freezer for grilling tonight. Imagine my dismay and surprise when I got home and found that while I was gone, my wife stuck them in the crockpot with onions and mushrooms! While the meal itself wasn't anything to complain about, it should have been made with some of the 1/2" thick boneless ones that were still in the freezer. I guess it's my fault (her words) that I didn't let her know ahead of time. It wasn't worth arguing! On the other hand, 1 1/2" thick pork chops never deserve to be in the crockpot! That's the difference between men and women.:(

Let's have a moment of silence for Willie's pork chops.

Good evening, all. Not a lot to report on from H-Town. I had the WEG laser surgery this morning and with my eye dilated most of the day no progress on the Motrak warehouse. I sat quietly with my eyes closed. Yes, I got several cat naps in. I guess because the cloudy vision comes on slowly one doesn't seem to notice until it's gone. Quite a difference. Groceries tomorrow and time allowing a little train time.

STAY SAFE
LATER
