Good Morning All. Cloudy and 83°. Weather radar from three different news/weather sites shows that it's raining here, but my weather rock says otherwise. Cars in the driveway and the back porch are all dry as well. The heat streak has been broken though, as it only got up to 99° here yesterday, mainly due to cloudy skies all day long. But back to 107° today and for the foreseeable future. This is getting old! On the plus side, the pool water never got above 86° yesterday, and it's probably a lot lower this morning.

Yesterday's ophthalmologist visit was OK, he spent more time praising his work than listening to me. I have discontinued the irritating use of the eye patch at night, and the medicinal eyedrops have been reduced. Good because I hate putting those in. Still have three a day, but that's down from six. I paid for the other eye to be done next Wednesday the 16th. It's odd that Medicare will pay completely if I get the bottom of the line lens, but won't even pay for the surgery part since I am getting the mid-priced lens! $1800 up front for the doctor and another $495 on the day of the surgery to the clinic, each eye! I could buy a lot of model train supplies with that money, although I might not be able to see them clearly

More of the same out in the train shed yesterday. I just did some very minor structure repairs and did some touch up painting. While looking for something else, I came across a shoe box with loads of semi-forgotten detail stuff in it. Mailboxes, propane tanks, soft drink machines, junk piles and assorted other stuff. There was even a small container of cow patties! Not sure where I got those, but I can use them pretty quickly. I've been making them from Elmer's glue tinted with brown India Ink in the past. I'll sort through the whole box today.
Here are a few pictures of a small auto repair facility in my town of Ft Wish.

I later decided that the scene was too plain and I switched out the mechanic and added the dog.

Hughie - Looks like an interesting structure.
Back in the early 70's, $2 worth of gas was more than my VW Beetle would hold!
Terry - Fortunately porch pirates don't hang out here in the country. Too many homeowners with guns, and DA's who will back them up.
Jim - Amazon (Prime) used to knock whenever they delivered here, but even they stopped doing that for some reason.
Swal - Glad to read that you weren't hurt.
Troy - Both Zucchini and Bell Peppers should last in the veggie drawer for 7-10 days.

Oh! Forgot to mention it earlier this week, but the annual Perseid Meteor Shower is happening right now. Tonight is the peak night if it isn't cloudy like it's been here for the past few nights.

Everyone have a great day. Keep cool.

Morning again,

Fixed the issue with the servers. Not sure why, but the how has been fixed. No reoccurrence.

Storms early this morning. No watch for my county, but a warning call at 3:30a. Then the power went out about 4:00, said the heck with it and we got up. Dressed and did the morning stuff using flash lights, and once that was done, the power came back at about 4:20. Never had anything but rain at the house, no wind or hail. I would like to know what the criteria is for weather alerts on the phones. Saturday night, we had a bad storm, (mostly to the south) and the phones went off for the t-storm warning. Didn't this morning. Go figure.

When was the last time you saw an Amtrak diesel just standing in the desert?

This one apparently with a defect some kind. Took a small (over 1000 mile detour to the arches):

This creature was there not so much admiring Delicate Arch, as waiting for a snack from some hiker;)

One thing I wish the delivery folk would do, is ring the doorbell. They just leave the packages, on the porch and go. I would bring them in if I knew they were there. Luckily not even porch pirates want to be in my neighborhood, so I haven't lost anything.
Around here they almost ever even knock or ring? I can be sitting here and the package is delivered and I don't know ot until I get the email or phone notification. UPS and Fedex have the same problem.

Just knock or ring folks!
I knock, ring the doorbell, talk to your dog. Dogs are the world's best doorbell. I also send a text message before I arrive and after I leave the package.

I hate and I seldom use the word hate. I hate getting notifications that the "Customer has not received the package" AKA missing package. The best way to be sure they get the package is to let them know the package has been delivered.

It only takes 10-20 seconds to do all those things. I seldom have more than 20-30 stops.

Amazon van drivers have 200 or more stops. It could add an hour or more to the driver's route to notify customers as I do. Amazon is to blame for not giving the drivers sufficient time. Not to mention some customer's crazy time-consuming instructions. Or driving inside the beltways, Capital beltway and Baltimore beltway. Amazon always underestimates time in those densely populated urban areas. It's always slow going, even at 3:30am!

What is the problem with "drop" package, ring bell, run. Not a massive amount of time consumed.

GEORGE Verry sorry to hear of your accident - just glad that you were not injured. Tin can be re-bent, bones not so much .. especially older ones!

The Spousal Unit is doing her planned kitchen makeover (in the planning stage). We had a 48" Jenn-Air double oven in our prior home and she wants it back 15 years later!
At this time all options are on the table! Do you know the make of that oven that you showed in the photo of the heating unit? I have been looking for an hour and cannot locate one that has the 2 equal offset doors. Appreciate any help if you know?

LOUIS -- YOU have reminded me that I need to check the front door. I finally broke down and ordered my favorite Sriracha hot sauce off of eBay - should be delivered today. Everyone has been hoarding this sauce and asking crazy prices for resale. Yesterday I searched three large stores and one had over 20 different hot sauces, but not the one I wanted and I have tried many of them to no avail.

Temp has been mild so far in August - low 60's nighttime and low 90's daytime.
Today is not expected to climb over 84 and tomorrow is expected at 80.
Yesterday was eaten up with Dr. appointments and another 4 hour HOA meeting.
We have one Board member who seriously "dots the i's and crosses the t's);
It's all good, but he even talks slower than I do, and it converts into "double time" easily.

Lovin the travel logs all -

A lot if it's the wrong address.

Amazon drivers cannot read. Packages that should be delivered to us are delivered two streets away. The street names are not similar to confuse them. One is Fell Close, the other Whinway Avenue?

David

Luckily in my area I have not had that problem. It does occasionally happen as the neighborhood has a FB group and people occasional ask if someone is missing a package that ended up on their doorstep or someone is missing one.

A somple knock or ring is all they need to do. Texting etc is nice but as Louis said is time consuming etc. But drop and knock on the door or ringing before you leave is all and takes an extra 2 seconds

Good afternoon, all. Hot, even the breeze is hot.
It is not only Amazon drivers. Here, UPS, FedX, and the USPS just drop our delivery, off they go. At my home, most place the parcel right under the door bell. I mean you straighten up and you are looking at it.

Did a little more work on the warehouse. I watched a video last night of a guy cutting up bits of wood to make stone. So, I Thought I would try something new, to me, and instead of painting the foundation as in the directions, I glued talus to the back and sided of the foundation. I thick once a wash and maybe some moss it's not going to look to bad.

STAY SAFE
LATER

So my wife was shopping for a new office desk chair the other day. She made the mistake of asking me for help. I really didn’t know what to do since I was at work and she was the one testing them out. Well she sent me this text and I answered, I think, the way any loving husband would. You decide.
