Glad to hear you doing well so far Willie.

Sherrel: No pants wetting here...

Mac: I do love me some GN stuff prior to the color change to Big Sky Blue.
Deffinitely that Omaha orange and Pullman green with pinstripes was one of the sharpest schemes. I might become "sick" and try to put together short version of "Empire Builder"...with electric locomotive leading of course. I guess that single rebuilt Y1a was used as a regular power in electrified district. I did see pictures of gigantic W1 with that train, which i'm guessing was some promotional shots.

Well good evening. Willie, Hope you're doing well with your recovery. Kriegslok, great photos. Jim & David, I wold definitely avoid Badgers Drift, the Mythical Murder Capital of the UK. 🤣 I think I have watched every Midsomer Episode at least five times, and you still see something you previously missed.

:( Toronto 4 0 Baltimore 1. Final; :( Kansas City 3 -Mets 0, Top 6th; Phillies 5 -Marlins 5, end of regulation. :( Yankees 7 - Rays 2.

Currently 59°, was only expected to drop to 61°. Clear over night, sunny tomorrow, 82°, then the rain approaches. Try and get some fertilizer on the veggie garden.

Had a "Healthy" dinner tonight, Baked Salmon, Salad and Green Veggie.

I have only done them about 3 times! Midsomer County, the Cabot Cove of the UK.

IMHO, Scherzer is washed up...at least unreliable at this stage of his career. Verlander still has some in the tank, but both are overpaid and underacheiving. Thats why they were dumped. Flaherty, is still young enough that he can regain some capacity. Of course, until he proves otherwise he's a .443 ERA Rental.
While both guys are pitching better of late, I can't disagree with you. I thought Grayson Rodriguez in particular could benefit from being around those guys for a season or two. All the starters could benefit, but Rodriguez has the potential to be as good as Scherzer or Verlander.

Whenever I use the word potential, I remember what a baseball scout once told me "Potential means you haven't done anything yet"

Good morning all. Another day of more rain than sunshine. Younger granddaughter is keeping me on my toes. :D

Nature at its best. The grass is uneven and encroaching onto the ballast. The bushes have a mind of their own. The trees have lots of branches.

Good morning from So. Central very foggy WIsconsin. I truly cannot see the sidewalk about 60’ from the front door, it’s very thick. It is 65f degrees now heading to the high 80’s. I’m not going to even think about driving in this crap, so the swimming is delayed this morning. The machine that goes nowhere will be walked on for the 2-3 miles depending how I feel. Going downstairs to get the walk out of the way

enjoy the day

Morning all,

A little late this morning as I got in a few minutes later than normal and had a pile on my desk I needed to get rid of before everyone started to show up.
Currently 85° after yesterday's 106°. While expected to get cooler over the weekend, it's still going to be 100° today with heat index of 105°+
due to higher humidity coming in before the front.
Gotta work Saturday, so off tomorrow.

Good Morning All. Clear and a very warm 85°, no real change in the forecast, with 107° predicted through Sunday. It was 109° here yesterday. That's 42.8°C to you folks across the pond. They have removed the rain from the forecast next week, apparently Terry claimed it.

Cataract surgery seems to have gone well yesterday, going back for the day after follow-up at 0845, which means leaving the house at 0800. Still have some blurriness which I was told to expect. The real downer which I was not warned about ahead of time, is that the doctor says no swimming for three weeks. And since I have the other eye scheduled for two weeks from now, that means sometime after Labor Day before I can get back into the pool. Had I known in advance, I would have scheduled for later in the year.

After the ophthalmologist visit, it's around the corner for the weekly grocery trek. I'll actually know how successful yesterday's procedure was when I ogle the ladies.

Due to the blurry vision, I was not able to do any modeling yesterday, so I just ran some trains out in the train shed.

Gotta go now and get ready to leave. Apologies for no pictures this morning, but I posted 10 yesterday over in the layout thread in my signature line.

Everybody have a great day.

Well, howdy there internet foggy people and those with a new eye.

It's troy again.

Words to word today. Finished the chapter yesterday which is good, but slow. I'd wanted to be three chapters in by now. That's the problem with starting a book. I never know what's coming, and I have to feel my way through one dark room after another. Some writers have to have the entire thing plotted and outlined and Ts dotted, eyes crossed, that sort of thing.

I can't do that. I knew the story need a mcguffin - a plot device that is fairly meaningless, but something everyone is searching for. Think of the Maltese Falcon. You never see it in the movie (or the book). But everyone wants it. That's a mcguffin.

And I hit a brick wall trying to figure it out. Seems I've got another series of books, less mystery - more action that is kicking around in the background. And my subconscious brain was telling me that the McGuffin here WOULD matter in the other series... so It have to fit both this book, and that new series.

Once I realized that, I knew I'd have a guest character or two popping into this story... and that McGuffin suddenly went from "any old thing" to something that would determine plot direction in the other series...

I tried to contact an author friend two days ago to bounce ideas off. She knew enough about story structure to help by asking the right questions to make me think about what I wasn't picking up on.

We finally got the call in yesterday, and the McGuffin cork was removed. I know what, and why. And how it ties into the new series.

Now I just have to figure out the what and why for this murder mystery. And what the hedgehog and skunk have to do with it.

Yep. Gonna be barn burner.... maybe not the right metaphor since this one is set on a cruise ship... but it's the same idea. Just without the fire at sea. Or Great Lake.

Here's my office for this morning
office-1.jpg

I was out here yesterday too, and had a problem with some annoying neighbors. They tried to hog the buffet at the snack bar, and kept fighting with my hummy-bird buddies.

I kept the peace by building them a swimming pool. I even asked one to be a lifeguard. But he drowned. So did his buddies. Maybe I should put a "Swim at own risk" sign?

Morning again from the West -- 59f looking for 88f under clear sunny skies. Looks like a nice day in the neighborhood.
Must be an airshow coming, or maybe not? A couple F-51's were doing dido's ? (that was my mom's definition) over the area yesterday somewhere around 1-2000 feet. Looked to be almost touching each other doing "lazy eights" and "chandels" burning 75+ gal. per hr. and upwards.
I wonder what will happen in a few years. The EPA is conducting a study that may ban all 100 oct. ave gas by 2030. I have no idea how this will disrupt the general aviation community. Even if they are able to find a replacement, the costs of conversion will literally kill most small aircraft owners.
MAC - Very nice photos

JOE - Love the pinstripe RS. That is a nice size train for a home layout - and club too!
I like your dinner ... one of my favs.

I see that FLO has not entered the establishment this morning?

DAVID - Love that shot of the " Pacific Princess ". anice size one to be on. I really don't care too much for the "giant" onesd!

Originally built for Renaissance Cruises the ship was one of six upmarket small ships for the company.
Carnival Corporation bought her and placed her in the Princess fleet naming her Pacific Princess. She had a loyal following of cruising passengers.
Carnival has since sold her to Azamara Cruises and is now named Azamara Onward.

Oceania Cruises is another company to have small ships. Here is Nautica at the Port of Tyne.

Good morning gang!

Partly cloudy day on tap, 65° currently with a high of 84° expected. Tomorrow more of the same with scattered showers.

Cut the spline and subroadbed out in 2 areas and rough fitted 2 bridges. Baby steps. Probably will lay out more cork tonight. I'm halfway through my second case of cork, glad I got 3 cases when I started this! And yes, I have a pile of track and turnouts, but I think I will need more.

Willie, glad to hear that all as well!

Flo, Coffee please! Don't let Troy hog it all!

TomO, your machine that goes no where, does it do what the one in our basement do? Ours also dries clothes!

Karl, my machine that goes nowhere is the treadmill. I got my 3 miles in 48:22. The fog lifted entirely by 8:30 but I was in the shower already. I prefer to walk out doors and generally from mid April to October I can. But this season between the fire haze and miserable weather( too hot, too cool, it’s raining) I have used the treadmill way too much

our dryer is upstairs near the kitchen
