Back from the Toyota dealership....

Passed over my Visa card for the 800$ bill, and was told that Debit or Check were preferred, and there would be a 3% surcharge if I used credit instead.

Mentioned it would have been nice to know that before I arrived, and would have brought the checkbook. I so rarely use it. Instead, I used the debit card which had enough of a balance but was running low after vacation and the mortgage about to hit next week. Transfered in the money from the generic savings account that would have covered the credit card charge next month.

Doesn't matter, since we pay the Credit Card off each month, and don't get dinged interest.

But it would have been nice to know before I arrived. Some folks live on tighter budgets, and eating 3% up charge isn't possible. I'm not even sure that the business is following the terms of service from the credit companies. I was always told I couldn't upcharge for accepting cards, back when I had my photo biz going.

I would have told them to take it -- no surcharge -- or to undo all their work and you'll go elsewhere from now on. No disclosure up front and they own the problem. If it is prominently posted and they disclose it up front then its on you.

I'd not go back to them and I'd let them know why. I've never had car dealership from any brand refuse to take a credit card without fees. It's a cost of doing business and they know it. They may have limits like most paying for a whole car etc but I've been able to put down payments of a few thousand on a card as well as all repairs and service etc no matter how big. Honda, VW, Audi, independents.

(Yes I'm in a feisty mood today -- tired of all the BS and lack of common courtesy and help from people who should know better)

Musical rant coming up. My wife controls the music in the car; we have Sirius Radio and we also have it on Alexa at home. I'm generally OK with whatever she selects, although in the car, if the disc jockey begins to give a 15 second background spiel on a song, she switches the channel. So I end up hearing the last minute of a lot of stuff instead of whole songs! But my real rant is when we have '60's rock on the Alexa. I might be enjoying several songs from Spencer Davis, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, Deep Purple and like tunes, when they throw a Neil Sedaka or "I'm Henry the 8th" in there and spoil the mood.
End of rant.

My car has a USB connector to the radio, and I plug in a flash drive of music, hit "random", and I have music for hours, if not days.

Good evening from the wet and rainy Jersey Shore. Currently 67°and cloudy with fog. Showers through tomorrow night going to 80° Friday, 85° Saturday and 79° Sunday. 0.14" of rain so far.

Our Sirius is on my phone, so I get to determine what plays. (Mostly Outlaw Country, Willie Nelson, NHL and MLB games).

In Baltimore, after a rain delay, no score in the 3rd. Washington beat the Yankees, Boston 17, Houston 1, (Sorry Hughie!) Unfortunately Tampa Bay also won.

MB Klein notified me that the Baggage Dormitory and Tavern Lounge Observation from Walthers General Train series were in, so I dutifully ordered them. Still waiting on the PRR Brick Standard Combination Freight / Passenger station announced with the passenger train. Actual station was located at Conshohocken Pa, and Frankford Junction,PA.

Went to the Mall today, Boscov's was having an end of summer sale. She wanted jeans, she didn't find anything she liked. I found a pair of Lee Regular fit on sale, plus two long sleeve T shirts at $6.00 each...if they last through two washings, I got my money's worth.

They giving a whopping 5% on. $250,000. I’d look at something different then CD’s.
Tom O: Think he meant the music type... For the investment variety, my Credit Union is giving 5¼ on $1000 for 12 months, one would think 250k should yield more...

Troy: They have balls charging you their credit card fees, that's a cost of doing business. My bank upped their cost for paper statements to $3 / per statement per month... their yields still suck on demand accounts. Another form of greedflation.

Per ESPN, Washington pitcher Stephen Strasburg who has not played since last year, is retiring... Toronto and Baltimore tied 2 -2 in the 5th.

Did a lot of walking today, and the left leg is real sore.

Toronto extended Center Austin Matthews for 4 years for $ 53M. Gotham Rangers extend Forward Alexis Laferniere for 2 years at $ $ 4.650M. He was the #1 pick in the 2020 draft... Watching both of these teams navigate the salary cap this season should be educational.

Can't remember the last time I turned on the radio, Might have been when we bought the vehicles, just to see if they worked. Both vehicles have 32 GB thumb drives, with the music we like to listen to. One folder takes nearly 5 hours to play through. The drive in my truck has 28 folders,

Not to worry. I only half-heartedly follow the Astros. They priced me out of the game.

Yo Louis: Exerpt Ken Rosenthal's article about Cheap John Angelos crying poverty (From the Athletic).
"
Don’t you just love it when major-league owners cry poor? John Angelos, the Baltimore Orioles’ managing partner, must think people are not paying attention, or are just plain dumb.

Angelos told The New York Times that Orioles fans can pretty much forget about young stars such as catcher Adley Rutschman and infielder Gunnar Henderson becoming long-term fixtures the way Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken Jr. were in Baltimore."...

Not surprising, eh? What a jerk.

I agree for that kind of money is should be higher but that’s what it was and I knew Sherrel was talking music…

I think it is very unfair criminal to make any tax payer pay a multi-billion owner of a multi- billion $ franchise any about of money to use a stadium.
Darn Right Good Comment, TomO. Great layout photos - luv the pulp yard!

A Push-Pull train in Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway livery.
DAVID - Reminds me of the "JOG" RR (as my ex called it).
The cog rr up Mt Washington in the state of New Hampshire; our teeth were vibrated out of our jaws - LOL.

CURT - Hope you are doing better! Good luck with your VA visits. E-mailed my Primary last night and received a reply back at 9 AM this morning for a prescription pick up of Amoxicillin 500mg - take 2 twice a day. About 20 min after I took the first two I was so dizzy that I had to sit on the floor for awhile - couldn't retain my balance.
BTW, I put in a call to PHIL, but he did not pick up! Left a message.

LOUIS - I love that pic of the "5 stripe" Green GG-1's - my favorites!

CDs are so 80's Sherrel!

KARL .. Old people have rights too!:oops::D and I'm 80!
How about ABBA ?? Love em! Two HOT ladies - they were big while I was in Saudi Arabia.
I Didn't even hear of them until I came back?

If you had the bluetooth hearing aids connected to the phone, and a pandora app on the phone, you could program your own station.

My wife has VERY eclectic music tastes, Imagine Dragons to Johnny Cash on the same pandora station. So I usually control the station on the radio. Mainly because we both listen to political podcasts and don't agree at all on them. Quiet jazz without squeaking saxes is the best we can do for around-town programming we can both listen to.

Morning all,

Supposedly the last heat day for a few. 104° again later, then 91° for a high tomorrow. Supposed to remain in the low 90's for the following week, and then heat back up again.

Gotta mow when I get home this afternoon as I wasn't able to do so last week. Looks like a hay field. I also have to put the new blades on the riding mower. It doesn't cut so much as bludgeons the grass. I also think I have a bent blade, so the new blades arrived last week, it's just been way too hot to put them on the mower.

I have a new backup computer I need to fire up this morning. Has a pair of 20TB drives to hold backups and move them to the cloud. Machine under $2000, although it is more a desktop than a server and is running windows 11. Came in last night and I unboxed it. Boss was ready to fire it up, but I though after being all day in a brown UPS truck and 104° temps, I wanted it cooler before I powered it up.

People at the door....

I basically will listen to any music but I do have trouble though with Country Blue Grass or at least what I have heard.

I can’t handle talk or media programs on politics at all anymore. As Terry drifts even further away than me in our political views we find it best not to listen or talk politics when we are together
