I will have my list ready for tomorrow if you would like a copy. My 2 children will get a copy tomorrow night. All trains, all the time!

I still say "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is one of the best LP's ever recorded. Vince Guaraldi Trio....
So good, in fact, that you can get it on vinyl once again: https://www.target.com/p/vince-guaraldi-trio-a-charlie-brown-christmas-green-lp-vinyl/-/A-16392718?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&DFA=71700000012790841&CPNG=PLA_Entertainment+Shopping|Entertainment_Ecomm_Hardlines&adgroup=SC_Entertainment&LID=700000001230728pgs&LNM=PRODUCT_GROUP&network=s&device=c&location=&targetid=pla-4585100930730666&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1248099&ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=bing_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Entertainment+Shopping|Entertainment_Ecomm_Hardlines&adgroup=SC_Entertainment&LID=700000001230728pbs&network=s&device=c&querystring=charlie brown christmas vince guaraldi&msclkid=1a3537214d7e165fb58d5429050a34c8&gclid=1a3537214d7e165fb58d5429050a34c8&gclsrc=3p.ds

On a personal note, I really have to thank you too for ending my own personally initiated torture (earworm) with the "Dead Skunk" thing. All...day. All day long. All...day long today.... Yeesh!
But now it's all good. Vince Guaraldi usually cures what ails me. :D

Morning all,

Didn't sleep well due to a phone call from the local daughter about having broken the outer glass pane on the stationary panel on the patio door. Nothing I can do, door is still secure, but she'd rather tear it out for a new one than just replace the glass. Door is only a couple years old. Oh well.

Currently 70° and clear going for a high of 96° later. Off to the office in a bit.

Good morning all,
Been busy at work so just catching up again. Great photos as always!
For those inland, a couple of pics of trains along the east coast; the area that I love for sure. Arctic Offshore patrol vessels being constructed.
and you know me, we had nachos with jalapeños from our garden last weekend with our lunch.

Good morning all! 63 heading for 82 today with a chance of storms this morning.

Back to work and class for the last day of the work week. Starting to get caught up on things at work finally. It's been a rough last week and half but things are starting to calm down now. One of my student workers will be in today and that will help. He has a little IT experience and knows how to handle things if I need him to. The new one I hired yesterday has no experience at all but I think I can train him for what I need. He starts Tuesday.

Tomorrow will be the beginning of the new week for my online math class which means the new assignments will be available to view and work on. I'm going to try and knock all of this week's work out over the weekend so I don't have to worry about it during the work week.

As always, lots of work to do and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Hope you all have a great day!

The nachos. It reminds me of a railroading trip (bear with me).

Dad bought a Super-8 movie camera 'round about 1968 and my two younger brothers and I piled into the back of his '65 CJ5. I must have been about eight or nine that year.

He drove us up to East Portal of the Moffat Tunnel, and we started around the righthand curve that leads back away from the tunnel toward the Giant's Ladder, and up Rollins Pass* when--suddenly--an eastbound passenger train pops out of the tunnel! I was too young, then, to know I was seeing the California Zephyr. But I know now.

[*Rollins Pass is the grade of the the former Denver, Northwestern and Pacific, later the Denver and Salt Lake railway, which crossed the Continental Divide at an altitude of 11,680 feet (3,560 m)]

He stopped the Jeep, of course, and zoomed in on the train. Blurry, sure, but I still remember it. In fact, I can tell you right where that roll of film still sits at mom's house. Really do need to get that digitized for my nephew before I die.

Later in the film he starts a clip of what looks, for all the world like a dead squirrel. Or even a dead skunk (see a few posts back in this thread).
Blood, guts everywhere, and bits of torn flesh and brown fur...and he zooms out...and further out...
...and then you can see into the plastic bag. Mom had packed us a bunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for our trip, and one of us sat on them...I guess. Terrible.

A real human tragedy (although no harm came to any animals in the film).

==================

So this is one of those moments when I think about railroading and model railroading too. But for him, and days like that, I wouldn't even be here.

Thanks, Dad!!!

Well, howdy there internet road kill observers and those who understand the deep meaning of DA DA DA

It's Troy again...

Going to make a stab at wording some words today.

And I've got a lot of painting to get to. My Hospitaller knights aren't going to paint themselves. I did crank up the airbrush to get the horsies and knights primed this morning.

and I invited a special guest English ka-night along to be their leader. He's astride his trusty steed Coconut in the center.

The fearless leader and his squire, as well as the gent over his shoulder to camera-right, are 3D prints in resin. the others are standard plastic kits from Fireforge minis.

OK, time for one more cup, then shower, laundry, and wording of words.

Good evening. A quiet day here. We finally got some rain, the first rain in almost a month, but then it was too wet to take my girls to the dog park. Got my old pickup running like a Swiss Watch. Doesn't look like much but mechanically I would drive it anywhere (if someone else was paying for the gas). In recent years about all I did with it was to pull forward far enough to mow under it. I had my old bowling partner put it on a trailer and pull it up here. Had to put new wiper blades on it as the ones on it were more than shot. Also put some Stabil in the gas tank. Made a couple of trips to the landfill with it after a good oil change, grease job and a tune up. It's a heavy three quarter ton as they didn't make one ton trucks in 1972. The only think that doesn't work is the A/C. It was changer over to R134 when I put the crate engine in it at 246,000 miles but a year later the compressor froze up. My son wants it to restore with his son. It will be a while because the kid is only one.

Karl - Unfortunately there is no natural gas in this part of the state. Have to rely on an electric water heater. I think it is a 55 gallon, but being that it is only me, I haven't run out of hot water yet. Great photo. From the club?

Terry - She is wanting me to take Cowboy. He is very special to her and she knows how I treat my dogs.

JeffH - Like the decking. It is a lot of work but worth it. I built a freight station from scratch and the loading dock was built board by board. I'll post a photo below.

James - Are you going to get a discount from ME? That first photo of the chopper really looks evil. One of my favorite shows at the time.

Ken - Enjoy the Tesla. My friend's brother in law from South Dakota of all places bought one and I got to give it a test drive. Awsome. What a hoot. He really had to plan his road trips with it though. An EV wouldn't be very practical here. No charging stations here, but there is one in Kalispell, 90 miles away. Wouldn't work to take a trip to see my son or daughter as it is over 400 miles away. Too much technology for this old fart.

Willie - Fantastic weathering job. Great work!

Sherrel - My little long hair dachshund had quite a few teeth removed but she could still strip everything off of a steak bone, it just took her a little longer.

Got the dogs staring at me again wanting dinner. Back to the photo archives. Here's the freight station.

Gotta go, Later

Chet -

I love that truck! Wow it is a really beaut!

ME...nope I will not be getting a discount but I whole heartedly support them. I love their products. They really make great stuff! Nothing like supporting model railroad guys that know what they're doing and making for us guys!

Beautiful pictures! Inspirational!

Good morning ya'll!

Working from home today for a few hours and then RNR starts this afternoon. I am hoping the remainder of my covered hopper orders come in today. I want to get them re-packed and shipped off to Wisconsin tomorrow. We shall see. I did get 3 NIB boxcars in yesterday. So that will be posted on the RPO thread. These cars are good starters as they are patched cars from the Atlas and they do a nice job on them. A little weathering and it will look really sharp!

this afternoon I will make a quick run to the grocery store and then I will hook up the boat (Grizz) to the truck (the Lycan). Get all loaded up for the fishing trip to Lake Champlain early tomorrow morning up to Port Henry.

1661516219397.png

I put in here and then head north to West Port which is about 12 miles. I make frequent stops along the way to fish. Then I cut across to the east to Vermont into Button Bay and work my my way back down south to Crown Point near the Champlain Bridge. Weather is gonna be perfect at 72 degrees!

Alright folks I gotta go and I may check in later in the afternoon. I will dump those pictures first on the RPO.

C-Ya!

Good morning all,

Not much to add this morning but Chet nice layout pics as usual, James sounds like you have more fun in one day than I have in a month with all your carousing! I realize we are all different, some like to go lots of places and do things and me, I will stay around the homestead and putz on projects until Kingdom Come!

Troy sorry that the foot doesn't want to cooperate with your rejuvinative efforts and Ken DJ good to hear you are enjoying your new "toy".

Shifted cars around last eve again, Freight cars to the sawmill for unloading hardware, loading up some lumber:

Have fun and RNR means rest and relax. It reads like you are excited and keyed up ready to go. So remember, relax until you start reeling them in

Hope you had a nice Margarita with those nachos.

BTW, my friend has decided he is NOT coming to NS this year.

Morning Train Nuts!
Another day of mostly ho-hum weather for this part of the world.
Today we are at 67 and looking for a 91 high with mostly sunny and breezy?
I think the player is stuck and keeps repeating over and over?

Not much excitement to report - The Geek Guy was by yesterday shortly after noon.
Upstairs I have had connection slowdowns and occasional non-service in the master Bed Room and one additional area, so today ... now I am the proud owner of triplet EERO boosters. Now I have an additional hub - watcha ma callet - that all the computers, printers, phones, and an upstairs ROKU TV. Everything seems HunkyDorry at the moment.

CHET sent me a note last evening inquiring about GREG.
Has anyone heard from him? Seems that it has been a while - and the last I remember is that he had fallen down his basement stairs?

BTW - the Spousal Unit and I watched the Star Trek - Beyond last evening and it was followed by the first one: STAR TREK - which I recorded for s to see tonight, maybe.

Need more coffee BBL

Good morning modelers of scale things and interested horror film makers! I got out of bed at 7:55 which is about 2 hours later then normal. Slept from midnight on, so must have been more tired then normal.

Lots of time in the train room yesterday. Ripped out the ties I installed in the Transload facility in the morning. Maybe 30 minutes contemplating it by just looking at it, then 15 minutes of rip out and clean up. After a brief 90 minute round trip out for lunch with Terry we came home. Back in the train room to start the tie laying process all over fixing again the former locomotive servicing pit that wasn’t done right the 1st time causing a springboard type effect. No springboard this time. Then it was off to the grandson’s 30th and final hockey game this summer season thankfully all at the home rink less then 2 miles away. I have stated this before, it’s too much but he loves to play. He missed soccer practice and he has 2 games Saturday and 1 game of that on Sunday. After the game the 6 of us headed to a local pub for an excellent pub dinner. I ordered the trio of mini hamburgers with pub chips. Ate 2 of the minis bringing the one with bacon home, it had a bun the other 2 were lettuce wraps. Some pub chips but a pint of Spotted Cow beer I rarely have let along drink it all myself. Around 9 last night I was back in the train room working on a 220’ long x 58’ in HO scale concrete tilt up wall warehouse. I needed a different background building to the entrance to Paper Mill Yard (PMY on the paperwork). Finished up in the train room about 11 and bed at midnight. No huge increase in the blood glucose level at bedtime from drinking the beer, 118 at bedtime.

Today is up in the air. Much to do on the layout. My paint bench is cleaned and happy to be receiving packages of 2 bay hoppers to start weathering. Did I tell you the bench is clean. Terry was impressed around 10 last night when she came down to check on me. Clean bench and working on the layout!

A mostly sunny morning at 67f/19.4c heading to 77f/25c. Unscheduled but possible “pop up” rain again today and the 2 pop ups yester put 1.5” in the manual rain gauge off the front deck. 1 weather station on the property about a mile away and south of the house had 2.43” with the other 2 with none collected. True “pop ups”.

Dinner will be fish on the grill for just the 2 of us as opposed to our normal Friday Fish fry out. Terry is loving that 2 burner Weber Spirit grill where she hated using the 6 burner big one, now to be used just for parties. it still needs to be installed into the island outside, we are on the handyman’s schedule for the middle of September. To much for me and the cement counter top is not anything I have ever built before!

enjoy the day
next
