Good evening. 71° degrees and still cloudy, but supposed to clear over night. In the last 24 hours, we have had 0.72" of rain at the Rutgers weather station. That's the first measurable rain since the 3" rainfall on 8/11. Fortunately, it appears most of my lawn is beginning to green up, although I think I will have to thatch and seed parts of the front and sides. Early September is a good time for that project.
I have been spending about 90" per day in the train room, mostly organizing my next phase of my layout's development. Lower back pain limits what I do and for how long. Hopefully this will pass quickly, as it usually does.
I was not in the mood for baseball, so I'm missing the Mets vs Yankees and the White Sox vs. the O's. I spent some time catching up with the Capitals Blog. NBC is selling off it's Regional Sports Networks. NBC Sports Washington is being sold to Monumental Sports & Entertainment, (Owner of the Capitals and Wizards Franchises). At least they didn't sell to MASN. I do watch a lot of Capitals games over the course of a season.
This evening, I watched a recent documentary about Centralia, PA on U-Tube. Centralia is the town that underground mine fires destroyed, over a period of time beginning in the early 1960s, through the 1990s. Started when the town began using a played out mine shaft as the town dump, and then decided to burn the trash in a controlled burn, resulting in setting a vein of coal on fire. That coal is still burning, and moving Eastward.
Some very nice work displayed here of late, Dave B, Curt, Tom O, and Willie, Hughie and others. I need to grab a glove and get into the modeling game.
