Rslaser is the manufacturer. To be fair, they have been very responsive. I have no complaint with that. In my opinion, and I may be wrong, this is a one-man operation. When I first contacted him about the missing carrier, he was at a train show. He said he has been doing this for 17 years. I think his quality control dept. could use a little help.

When I was building all my structures last Winter, I built about 30 structures from various makers. Of all the kits I tried, RSLaser was the poorest quality. It was highly detailed, but so many of the pieces were not cut well enough to get them out of their form. Like the laser wasn't strong enough to cut all the way through. In other areas, the laser cuts were not precise enough to even be used.

Afternoon All,

Started out with a morning walk. I have a course that's 2.2 miles that I do in 40 minutes. After breakfast I took Dad's car to Firestone (he likes them) to check on something but it turned out to be fine. When I got home I put together, mounted and hooked up 2 additional light poles. I saw last night that the freight house scene needed more lights so I'll take photos tonight. After lunch I was adding detail parts around the layout. Have a MD phone appointment tomorrow morning about my new A1C numbers. After 6 weeks of walking it dropped 1.1% to 6.5 (still have a ways to go.) I am also a type 2 diabetic.

Thank you all for the photo likes yesterday.

Chad- It looks like you're making good progress.

Dave- Nice job on the crane. I will probably build it at some point. Can you measure the length with the boom car attached? Great layout shots.

Jeff- The pier area is going to look awesome. I've had the same experience with a RSLaser. Turned me off enough that I never bought another.

Guy- Thank you. Nice 1:1 photo.

Willie- Great job on the current project.

Sherrel- Good luck to Charlie. Poor puppy. I imagine he will have to wear the "cone of shame." 😂 Best wishes for Irene.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Unfortunately so many of us are diabetics. Both types 1 and 2 are represented here in the diner, a great gathering place for diabetics. Thanks Mel and to the ladies!

I alternate between 2 miles walking at about 40 minutes with Terry to 35 or better alone. I swim for 30 minutes on the non-walking days. I am a carb counter since January.

Sound of freedom just roared over the back deck. I believe they are F-16’s as this is not a good picture. The f-35’s replacements are coming in 2023/24 unless the environmentalists get their way. These are based at the Wisconsin Air National Guard at Truax Field about 12 miles northeast.
Tom- the flyovers we get up here in North Central Wisconsin are based out of Volk Field(next to Camp Douglas & SE of Tomah & Ft McCoy).

Roofers are done, thank God. It's almost my bed time.
I think I forgot to mention we were having the roof replaced.

The PS 4 Pro came back today. No additional charges and it works like new. Total cost was $149 and that included shipping both ways. They even sent me a box to send it to them.

That's all for me, no nap.today, I'm tired!

Have a great night Everybody!
Louis- good to see you in here my friend. I changed my mind about building a short track oval raceway & will build a ballpark, instead. I figure that leftover sprues from kits will make excellent foul poles.

Mel told me years ago, everything they serve is sugar free!

I once had the complete set of video tapes of all the 'STAR TREK' full length movies, but the Spousal Unit mistakenly sold them in a garage sale years ago. I actually think that I cried when I found out! I have not watched any of the new stuff that you folks are talking about.
Sherrel, if you can find the time i think you would enjoy the three newest Star Trek movies. They are true to the original show.
"Star Trek", 2009
"Star Trek into Darkness", 2013
"Star Trek Beyond", 2016
Dr. McCoy was always one of my favorite characters from the original TV show. The guy that plays Dr. McCoy in the new movies does not disappoint. In my opinion, they did an excellent job of casting these movies. I loved all three!

I hope for the best for Charlie.

Welp howdy there Type 1 and type 2 internet peeps. And those of us who are (fortunately) just tubby.

It's Troy again...

Been an interesting day. the Amish woodpeckers showed up and could have almost finished the siding project. That would leave the gutter guys on Friday and Saturday, and the trim painting, which the contractor boss man is doing himself.

I had to run to the postie this afternoon. I'll tell that story in a bit. First about the Amish and the woman in the hard hat. (Some of you know where this is going already)

When I left for the 15-minute run I glanced down the row of garages. Since I didn't hear the mix of Pennsylvania Dutch and English, or the pounding of nailers, I figured we'd have a break going on.

Except for two new faces. Both wearing yellow safety vests and hard hats. In the parking lot with all the workers gathered around. An hour later after I had returned, and then got nosy, they were still listening to the lady in the vest and hard hat.

So, I headed back out a few hours later, planning on seeing how far the workers had eventually gotten. And the boss man was out. He and another gent (one of my neighbors) were walking the area looking for stray nails. We started chatting, and the neighbor nodded his head toward the brand new yellow safety ropes anchored to the roof.

Yep. Someone called OSHA on the crew. They didn't like the Amish teenagers laying on the roof edge with the nailers anchoring in boards.

My comment... whoever called has never seen an Amish barn raising.

"Yeah, well, that's not a contracted service. OSHA can't do squat about neighbors helping neighbors if no one is contracted."

Fortunately, one of our owners in the complex is a Safety administrator for his company, and a phone call let the siding contractor know he was facing a fine of about $1,200 with a reinspect tomorrow. Funny, though, the OSHA inspector could not say how to fix the issue. She could only cite the problem. She passed on a phone number to a safety consultant.

Fortunately, our resident who's a safety guy was able to save the biz owner the phone call and educated him on the appropriate measures. Safety ropes and harnesses. I'm hoping everyone dons a hardhat before the inspection, or that may be a second violation.

I feel for the business owner. When I was working for newspapers and had to go photograph action at construction sites, I learned to find the foreman first and let him know I'd be across the street getting photos of his/her crew up on the scaffolding. The good ones asked me to wait a few minutes. they broke out the harnesses and hard hats then gave me the thumbs up. A few admitted that they'd been cited thanks to a newspaper photo.

Used to drive HWY 10 west out to I94 on business calls to Black River Falls. In the Spring and Summer they use HWy 10 to line up for the bombing run practices and they’d be 100’ above ground. If you weren’t paying attention before the 1st jet flew over you definitely were after that. The night bombing runs were scary if on Hwy10

But, but, but...you can add a 2-year protection plan for only $6.99!

Sounds like a steal [cough] to me.
$10.15 for expedited shipping.

I did look online for 2 Bay Covered hoppers at my 3 favorite places and everyone has raised prices some but no to the EBay levels.

So glad I am close to having the right mix of cars on the layout. Lots of weathering to do for what i won’t be keeping and then selling. Ah, inflation has struck the scale train business

My grandson is playing PS3 games on my special edition PS4. It is an original PS4 I bought for my train room. i never used it. He tells me it works better with old games than does the PS4 Pro or PS5.
The PlayStation + Premium subscription gives him free access to hundreds of classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2™, PS3™ and PSP™ consoles. I don't know why he loves these old games so much.
I'm glad he has completely recovered from covid so quickly. I hope I do the same.

Give away thousands of dollars when the supply chain is already under stress. I wonder what will happen?

Grey market wholesalers are now offering pallet loads of mixed merchandise for as little as $400. The merchandise is over stock acquired from Amazon, Target, Wal-Mart, and many others.

Now that the backlog at the ports is flowing retailers are going from Out of Stock to Over Stock.

Good evening. 71° degrees and still cloudy, but supposed to clear over night. In the last 24 hours, we have had 0.72" of rain at the Rutgers weather station. That's the first measurable rain since the 3" rainfall on 8/11. Fortunately, it appears most of my lawn is beginning to green up, although I think I will have to thatch and seed parts of the front and sides. Early September is a good time for that project.

I have been spending about 90" per day in the train room, mostly organizing my next phase of my layout's development. Lower back pain limits what I do and for how long. Hopefully this will pass quickly, as it usually does.

I was not in the mood for baseball, so I'm missing the Mets vs Yankees and the White Sox vs. the O's. I spent some time catching up with the Capitals Blog. NBC is selling off it's Regional Sports Networks. NBC Sports Washington is being sold to Monumental Sports & Entertainment, (Owner of the Capitals and Wizards Franchises). At least they didn't sell to MASN. I do watch a lot of Capitals games over the course of a season.

This evening, I watched a recent documentary about Centralia, PA on U-Tube. Centralia is the town that underground mine fires destroyed, over a period of time beginning in the early 1960s, through the 1990s. Started when the town began using a played out mine shaft as the town dump, and then decided to burn the trash in a controlled burn, resulting in setting a vein of coal on fire. That coal is still burning, and moving Eastward.

Some very nice work displayed here of late, Dave B, Curt, Tom O, and Willie, Hughie and others. I need to grab a glove and get into the modeling game.

Later
