Minnesota environmental Scientists note alarming rise in average temps!

Concerned, public-funded University of Minnesota scientists, experts in environmental trends and modeling, have noted an alarming rise in monthly average temperatures. "Since February, we have seen monthly temperatures volcano up 20 - 25 degrees Fahrenheit per month. We have not seen this sort of dangerously incendiary trend in months. At this rate, Minnesota wildlife and other vulnerable species could face devastating and life-threatening temperatures of over 140 degrees in December. And God alone - <giggle> if there were such a thing - help us in 2023."

Asked what might mitigate such catastrophic conditions, the team replied, "Only significantly massive and caring outlays via public and governmental sources can possibly derail (see how I got this about trains?) this horrendously cataclysmic final certainty. We must immediately take action to build air-conditioned shelters to cover approximately one million acres."

When asked if this would be a long-term fix, the spokesconsciousnessaware answered, "Indeed not. We, along with our partners through the public university system along with generous-but-still-inadequate government funding have identified a critical, man-made anomaly to our dear mother: earth. We have discovered an apocalyptical condition which will soon cause annihilation of all life. Building and population imbalances centered upon europe and european-derived cultures have caused dangerous imbalances to the weight distributions of our planet. These artificial imbalances, brought about through colonialism and the flabbergastingly inexplicable building projects of euro-religious structures, have resulted in a shifting of the rotation of the planet. In short, one more dire legacy of the world's infestation of europeanism is that our planet, and everything on it, is off-center."

Continuing, the spokesconsciousnessaware said, "But we have a plan and our computer modeling shows a 97% successful result. With a combination of thermonuclear devices and ginormous gas turbine thrusters (the construction of which I can neither confirm nor deny), we will correct this abnormality and reverse the dire consequences of humankind's asymmetrical development. We find it pleasantly ironic that thermonuclear weaponry once considered to be the ultimate cause of destruction will be used for this noble restoration of planetary equity."

In response to a question of potential adverse effects of this correction, the team, almost as one, replied cheerily, "None! In fact quite the reverse! When the correcting charges fire, approximately 88.625% of the world's human population will perish within four to six weeks, but we have examined the models and confidently present this as ... a good thing."

And to think, Terry is ticked off about some mold found on a couple windows in the pool area. She warned the contractor she better not get mold, she wanted an air curtain to keep the window enclosures dry and he talked her out of it. No problems, the thermonuclear reversing charges should kill off the mold.

But, since I was unaware of Steve’s article I went and hit the affected areas with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and later will follow up with 409 cleaners. but maybe not now

Good evening. It's mostly cloudy and 80.
A few weeks ago, our power company made me an offer to purchase a nest thermostat. After trying to bend it to my will tonight, I'm ready to throw it in the trash. I really don't care if setting the thermostat to 77 uses more energy, just F*ing do it. And it refused. It's still 79 in the house, the air conditioner is not running, and the thermostat will not allow it to turn on, because it will waste energy. That's 79, with 92% humidity in the house.

I had to do some digging, because it is supposed to work the way it does. The reason it doesn't do what I'm asking is, I am not in the room where the thermostat is located. Turning off "presence sensing" didn't do squat, and I'm not going to move the thermostat into the layout or living room, just so it can monitor me. I'm removing it Saturday, when I have a little time, and putting the old unit back.

Something like that is being controlled by someone else. The ac won't come on till it's 80 degrees. Set a candle under it so the warm rises to it and it will reach the ac turn on temp.

I had a Nest. It doesn't work like that. There must be a setting not right or something?

I got rid of the Nest because Google bought them -- otherwise it was the best of the smart thermostats I've tried.

I believe there is an "away" setting that will allow it to go to a higher temperature before turning the A/C on. You want to disable the automatic sensing of "away" and only do it when you manually set "away". You should also be able to set what the away temperature range is and what your normal "home" temperature is.

When I had my Nest I had it set to only do manual "away" but to allow it to go up to like 82 while away. When we went away for a few days I would set it away and it would save me some money not keeping the house cool while we were gone. Ditto in the Winter -- we would go to Japan for a few weeks every other year and I set the low temperature to 58 so it wasn't heating an empty house.

These are all settings. Back when I had my Nest, I think you set stuff on the device itself. There may have also been a way to set it through an app. I don't remember. I use an Ecobee now and use an App to set the settings for all these same sorts of things, but can also do it directly on device IIRC. I always use the app.

welp - woke up for the 3 am potty break.

My brain went into... Print job going.... did I run out of filament yet? .... The firmware on my printer doesn't use the filament out sensor.... have to catch it manually.... OMG is the print job ruined? ... Is the nozzel drifting through time and space, devoid of filament???

So I got up to check...

7 hours 59 min into the print job of 8:03 length...

This is what was left on the spool...

Still chugging... went back in 5 minutes

DONE! V1 Rocket and track pieces for the launcher. Two more parts of terrain left to print.

Going to need to switch rolls soon, but I can probably nap til about 5:30 before that's an issue. Night!

Morning all,

66° and dark this morning. 94° and light predicted for later today.

Not much going on today, yet. Got to mow after work today, as I have to put new trim around the local daughter's garage door before the contractor comes in to replace the siding tomorrow.

Good morning all! 55 degrees heading for mostly sunny and 83. The crazy busy stuff at work continues today but I'm starting to make some headway. Most of the projects I've been trying to get done are complete or close to it. I left a little early yesterday since I went in early the last couple days trying to get things finished up. Still trying to figure out why one thing won't work but overall things are going well.

I started my online math class last night and fortunately for me the first week or so will be easy even for me and I'm terrible at math. My in-person speech class starts this morning.

Time to get ready for work. I'll try to stop back in later. Have a great day everyone!

Good evening gang

Just finished loading the boy’s truck and SWMBO s Equinox. The last kid goes to college tomorrow.

Tomorrow night we can walk around naked if we want!
Ya, nothing like it! Can pee of the back porch also. Well, wife does not do that although she does get pretty skimpy as to the clothes though. Don't even have to pick up dishes if we do not want to.

Leaves are starting to fall off the trees here in Virginia already. Seems like it was a very short summer.
Getting into the last day of prep for the op session tomorrow. Gotta haul the trash bin to the dump then just minor stuff the rest of the day.
I attended the county Board of Supervisors meeting this past Tuesday. One of the topics was the high tax increases on property and persoanl property. Really? the Board set the tax rate just a few months ago and finally got around to opening their tax bill just recently? They are all in favor of doing something about these high taxes. Great idea guys. (applause)
