Good morning from my side of Wisconsin. I don’t normally answer the phone if it doesn’t show in my contact list. Just before I headed to the Doctor for my wellness visit a call from Verona came in. The doctor is sick so reschedule till next Monday.

Weather on the deck is nice and it is peaceful except for a couple chirping birds. I told those birds it is my deck and they are looking at me like I am nuts. The smoke haze is elsewhere today and tomorrow and between the clouds we have vivid blue. Haven’t seen that in over a week.

Willie, thanks. I will take all the encouragement.

Sherrel, glad you can take a ribbing.

Troy, I forgot, good morning though.

Boris, marvelous picture. The media around here seems to be hi-liting the folks in the hospital with Covid and not vaccinated. It’s a little late when you are in a hospital bed telling the media, it’s real, I should have got the shots.

Tornado, email received last night from the City of Verona. The storm was re-classified to a tornado. F-0. That allows FEMA to issue funds to the City to pay for the city workers time on cleanup. I will not bring this storm up again.

To All, that I have not mentioned by name. Thanks for the likes and the comments on my stuff. I do read every post on here but we are a many postings group. I should do a paper list of names. Have a great day

Greetings all,

Not much time, our VBS starts this morning and yours truly is involved of course.

Did get some train time in after outside chores:

That's what the yard ladder will look like, so making progress. I put my wife on an airplane this morning so will have lots of time this evening for the yard ladder.

Here is my thought process for how to proceed. Please critique:

1. I think I have to drive an anchor. That will be the 18"R curve coming into that very first turnout. Once I get that down hard (maybe not hard?) then ...
2. cut the flexes to fill in.
3. Mark all the ladders and other track outlines.
4. Drill and cut for:
4a. TO actuators (to be installed later - can't afford them right now)
4b. Frog power feeders.
4c. Electromagnet uncouplers.
4d. Non-electromagnet uncouplers.

Yikes. ANyways, at least the weather is nicer - down in the 50sF this morning!! ---------Steve J

Good morning y'all: 68° and sunny this morning.

I can't comment specifically on your rant without going overboard and censured for being political

Willie, (and Tom O): That does put a crimp on expression, doesn't it...but...I somewhat also agree. I'm still smarting about how things were handled in the aftermath of Sandy, and that was in 2012. My expressions aren't limited to FEMA either, but include the well known non-profit Relief Agencies. There are people still waiting to return to their property, due to bureaucratic bumbling. Back then I was still capable of helping myself, now, I am less capable so more dependent.

Speaking of Downtowns, Walthers has announced a new Merchant's Row VI, for future release. Three storefronts according to the graphic. Apparently City Scenes are increasing in popularity.

Good Morning! - It's fairly warm this morning at 64F, and we can expect some rain. That's good.

Results of the wife's rapid test came in negative this morning. We are happy about that, but she definitely has some kind of a bug attacking her. Had her in the hospital yesterday when things turned for the worse. They needled her with an anti-inflammatory drug, which seemed to help. Plus a prescription that I need to get filled this morning. - They kept us in isolation all the time in the hospital. Apparently there is some recent ordnance that says she has to isolate for 10 days even with the negative results. So no going back to work for a bit.

Plus, I sprained my left foot somehow. Not sure what I did, but, I'm hobbling around with some discomfort. The foot is swollen up pretty good. - Now I can't walk the tracks for awhile. I'll have to sit in the backyard and take photos of birds instead.

I've read all your posts. Thanks for posting some good stuff. And thanks for the likes on the gossip I put down.

I've got to hobble down and see if the drug store is open yet. Might bbl.
Here's a couple of photos. Same car, both sides:

See ya'll later!

A better picture of the marina in Racine, Wisconsin on 8/1/2021. Figured after showing that picture of stupidity we might like to see some idle boats. The wind yesterday was howling and the waves were high with red flag warnings but some of the bigger boats were out anyway.

Most boats here are Chicago folks who didn’t win the lottery down there for a berthing space or couldn’t afford the Chicago or the Kenosha, Wi. berthing spaces about 20 miles south of this picture.

I have a question, ok a couple…..
does anyone make any money from
1 chickens - dinosaurs, show them blood and they are pure killers, do not go near them if you scratch yourself, and prefer duck eggs and. Eat
2 ducks - love them breed them spend far too much time watching them
3 goats..l.the milk we get is negligible I still buy cows milk at present, I have 2 more youngsters to mate hopefully this year, and I think the neuter is becoming enough of a pain that he will end up as goat curry
i know we can make cash from bees, but far far too lazy,we leavethem mostly to their own devices and steal a little honey now and then with 3 potentially 4 hives - the 3rd one had a swarm arrive, and it had a marked queen bee….so someone lost one.

Good Morning all! Another hot one in store, though there is a 60% chance of rain later.
A big plate of SOS and coffee.

Going to try to get to Home Depot for some concrete blocks for the generator project. Hopefully I'll be able to back my truck in close before the rains hit. The shed is still about 10 days out.

Started assembly of Old Dominion.

Actually I need a real layout. Something L-shaped (8 'x 8'). A pizza layout is a little bit boring, isn't it ?  o_O
Yes! But everyone here was too polite to say so! ;);) They are however, good for Christmas trees and grandchildren. Show your wife some big layouts like the one at Chet's club, or Garry's or mine and then point out that you only need 8' x 8'! Make sure that you have a bottle of her favorite wine in hand when you have the discussion.

She saw some pictures of your layout and said, "Wow! What a fantastic and wonderful layout! Start building the shed and we'll talk about the layout later."

Yes to chickens and ducks, but not any more. I sold chicken eggs for a while, not sure that I really made money. I had a lot of manure that I gladly used in the garden and the compost pile. I got burned out because people wouldn't return the egg cartons even when I discounted the eggs if they would. Ducks I made some money on. I bought hatchlings and sold them at six weeks to a nearby hunting dog trainer. I normally counted on five lots of 25 a year. After deducting hatchling and feed costs, I made about $35 each time.
My neighbor made lots of money with goats. He kept a breeding herd and several times a year he would load up 150 young goats and go to the local flea market and sell them to Mexicans for BBQ. He made 4-5 trips a year, he got $75@, all cash and sold out within 3-4 hours. Once he put in a tall fence and got a sheep dog to ward off coyotes, he just had to feed them hay (which he grew on my land) and water them.
I'm too lazy for bees.
I have witnessed what you posted about chickens and blood, especially when one drew blood in a nest box fight.

One of my jobs in the past was working at a chicken house. I was in charge of 2 or 3 houses with 100,000 birds in each. I learned how to keep the birds from pecking me. I also learned what Solomon went thru with 900 wives. The noise at his breakfast table would have been deafening.

Christian: ..... Not boring. Sometimes you go clockwise and sometimes you go counterclockwise .;) .... Actually, if your space is limited, you may wish to consider N-scale. Terry, for example, has a very nice looking N-scale layout without taking up much space.
