Apart from commuter rail and not venturing more than 10 minutes from home, my usual freight experience are some covered hoppers at a plastic pipe factory or bulkhead flat/centrebeams at a lumberyard…

When u get up close and personal to the graffiti, the detail pops…

Every freight car I see is loaded with graffiti. I thought rail yards had guards. What I see is not sneak in and write your name in spray paint. Some of the artwork would take a long time to do. How does this happen?

Good morning gang!

51° on mostly cloudy skies with a high today of 82°.
Another day of work today, tomorrow a half day and then the rest of the day with my cardiologist. Normal workday on Thursday and then another half day on Friday to meet with the neurosurgeon. Starting to feel like a human pincushion.

I see that the 2025 inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame are out. It appears that they are playing catch-up with Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker and Bad Company. All three first time nominations; all at least 35 years after they were first eligible. True to form, they are inducting several who are definitely not rock & rollers, Outkast is rap and Cyndi Lauper is pop in my opinion. The White Stripes is a questionable call, but probably is at least partly rock & roll.
In my opinion, they started straying almost from the beginning with inductees like The Supremes, Miles Davis, Jackson 5 and Donna Summer. I accept Doo-Wop, Blues and Soul like The Coasters, The Isley Brothers, BB King and Sam & Dave; but folks like Brenda Lee, The Shirelles and especially ABBA just don't fit my concept of rock & roll. Some of these are outstanding in their own fields, like Miles Davis in Jazz or Bob Dylan in Folk, but this is supposed to be The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

Rant over!

Here in town there is a small BNSF yard. Some of those cars waiting pick-up sit there for upwards of a couple days. If one was so inclined (Im not one of them) they could pull it off pretty easy. No guards and tree lines on both sides of the tracks and few houses, businesses, ect.

Morning all,

55° with light rain expected in a bit. The storms predicted for here last night never materialized. They stayed well to our north, but did get some rain overnight. I forgot to check the rain gauge before I left the house.

Not much happening here yet this morning. I have to re-do my performance appraisal as the on-line form (Auto-saved) didn't keep any of my comments. So now I have to remember what comments I wrote.

BBL as I can

Willie: I agree with your take on Outkast and yes, Cyndi Lauper too. WTF is the White Stripes? Are they on the side of the road?
Why Jim Steinman and Meatloaf are not in the HOF is beyond me. That's Rock and roll!

Good morning. The super severe weather predicted for the overnight went north and west of us. I went out on the deck at midnight when it was supposed to be severe but the skies overhead were clear. The radar showed the storms maybe 30 miles west of us. Then I happened to wake at 3:30 when again the weather was to be at its peak but just the strong winds were blowing. I’m thankful for that as the media sure were hyping the storms. Our safe place in the house is actually part of my train room. Because there are 6 in the house now, the SIL and I put of the sleeping bags and air mattresses in case they were needed for the grandkids. Seems like everyone slept well overnight and the SIL has already put away the setup. Glad we had it though but happier it was unused.

I have not looked at what damage did occur in Wisconsin overnight but when I looked at the radar at 3:30am everything north and coming out of the southwest of us was red, we were a green/yellow mix! So I know some areas got hurt. It’s 57f degrees now heading to 61. That’s 25 degrees cooler than yesterday. The winds are quick at 18mph with gusts at 38.

Today is getting pictures done for the TSA pre-check thing and renewing the passports. Thankfully done at the same place about 11 miles from us at a Staples store! Also a trip to the local post office when we return. Shipping out Marlin39’s cars.

Weathering, being gone most of yesterday with unscheduled (meaning I didn’t know I was going) galavanting around Madison looking for the perfect pair of sandals nothing was done. No the perfect pair wasn’t found either. We will try again at 2 outlet Malls tomorrow. They each are approximately 60 miles away from the house and Mapz says 82 miles away from each other. I did get a promise of 90 minutes train watching at Clyman Junction on the UP. I should catch a local, a intermodal and a tanker train based on information from a local UP train group.

This is the UP mainline from western Wisconsin into Milwaukee and onto Chicago. I scouted this location out years ago when the Big Boy 4014 made its 1st adventure into Wisconsin.

I did on Sunday mask off 10 diesels. Before we head out this morning I will give them a spray of clear coat.

Enjoy your day

White Stripes got their name from the red-and-white striped peppermint candy that the drummer was fond of. And the drummer and lead singer's last names are White.
