Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 53°. And the rains came! As I posted yesterday morning, they started as I was leaving the house and it was relentless for a while. The first three hours brought 2.3". They stopped for just enough time for us to drive home and restarted less than five minutes after arriving. The overnight rainfall was not quite as great, but before it stopped around midnight, I got a total of (avert your eyes
Sherrel) 4.1". My guess is that my pond filled up, but I can't get out that far yet until the water drains off the area between the house and the train shed. I have a runoff channel there to keep water from running under and around the house. The garden and train shed are about 14" higher than the gully, so they're OK, but are on the other side. The wind that I have been writing about for the last two weeks has temporarily stopped, but the cold front slowed down and has yet to arrive. That will happen around noon with north winds at over 20 mph, thanks to
Patrick who forgot to shut the door. The flash flood warning for our county expired at 0400, but the creeks will be full for another 2-3 days.
Prior to getting ready for the evening soirée, I did manage to fertilize many of the parts of the garden that I hadn't gotten to yet. I also split some more logs and stacked some of the firewood that I was gifted with last week. I took an Advil as a precautionary measure although I am not sure that I really needed to.
Thanks for the likes and comments regarding the last church photo yesterday;

I wasn't in the train shed yesterday due to the fact that I do have a limited social life.

But I do have a few pictures to post. This is specifically aimed at
Guy, two tips that I have developed to make Caboose Industries ground throws work better. Others may find them useful as well. I developed these ideas years ago, and they may not be needed on all ground throws, but I do it to all that I install, like using the truck tuner on all trucks regardless of need.
I first remove the throw arm. Always be careful to not remove the throw bar, as I have had difficulty reassembling it.
I then take a small flat file and ever so slightly brush it against the sides of the slot at an angle.
It doesn't take much, you are just taking off any potential burrs that may exist. I have noted that some batches are not as pronounced as others.
Reassemble and then add a drop of very light lubricant to the following areas.
Not all ground throws need all of these steps. I use this oil since I have had it 35 years, but LaBelle makes a similar one.
I
ALWAYS have to wipe off excess oil since the drop is always greater than needed. The ground throws are made of "slippery engineered plastic", but I occasionally mount them off-center (accidentally) and this helps them to operate better.
Curt - Engine facility and turntable looks really good.
Smudge - That's quite a coach.
Sherrel - Tell Kate to get well soon.
Gotta go now and slog around outside and check up on things.
Everybody have a great day.
