Good morning again,

I was having problems with my Samsung Galaxy earlier today, something wasn't working between the gadget and the Forum. Everything is fine on my work computer. I like to minimize my use of the Forum during the workday, so the smartphone is what I usually keep up on.

Flo - I would love a hot cup of coffee and one of those big gooey carmel rolls with pecans. Thank you!

It is 40° and cloudy, supposed to be some light rain today. I heard some frogs chirping by the pond Sunday, also all the ice just disappeared from the big pond on our land. The lakes up here between Sandstone and Aitkin still have ice cover.

I just noticed the unique outhouse in this 1910 photograph. It is circled in red.

That is one outhouse probably did not smell too bad.

Lots of stuff packed into this photo. I hope to model a compresssed version of the loco shed (clue: soot) and the larger bldg with the clearstory, also will shrink. It looks like they do some processing of Sandstone in there. Looks like a truck trail to the engine shed, otherwise not much for roads, but lots of track, in this area.

more later, Dave LASM
Which Galaxy do you have, my S7 edge started doing that, 'bout week later I woke up to a blank screen, not recoverable, so now have a A12

TRIGGER WARNING: If you are tired of snow do not continue in this post. Run the other way!

Yesterday it was overcast with periods of sun sneaking through. Got up to around 60F. Then yesterday evening the temperature dove down to 30F and at 10pm it looked like the photo below. About 2 inches of heavy wet and icy snow and it was blowing and coming down. My son hadn't gotten home from work yet so I got the electric (battery) snow blower down and quickly went out and got rid of all the snow on the driveway and a quick pass along the sidewalk in front of our house. Our driveway is quite steep (should be against code to make them so steep as it is dangerous when snow or ice is around which is common in winter, of course) and the wife thought our son would have problems parking.

Over night it snowed another 1/2" or maybe a little more. Today there were patches of blue but it is supposed to be cloudy and maybe a little more scattered snow showers. It was 21F at 5am when I had to visit the little boy's room.

High today and tomorrow is high 30s, with high 40s on Thursday. Each day shows a percentage chance of snow showeers. Then Friday, while still cloudy, a high of 64F again. And the next week after that mostly 60s with a day or 2 of 50s, and partly to mostly cloudy.

You got to love the schizo Spring time.

It is the S-12.

It seems to be working, the crazy machine would not register a like each time I pressed it. I think it is a slow connection problem.

Sometimes I think I am overloading it, our internet connection here is not that great.

I had a S7 Galaxy and loved it (I got it new in 2016 and well it lasted until last summer... 5 years is not bad) .....I recently upgraded last June 2021 to a Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G. Now I could have bought the newer version 21 or 22 for that matter but I chose to stay with the 20 series because it was the last year that Galaxy was ever going to use the Mico SD cards. I am not a fan of the cloud system yet lol. So anyways I have just pulled my micro SD card out of my S7 and slapped her in the new phone. No issues or problems. My card is a 128 gigs and well I only have 44 gig used so I have a ways to go before that fills up. I have backed up the card to my external drive and laptop for all my pictures etc.

On my Galaxy phone I make it a habit to reboot once a week on my phone and it seems to function quite well. I have been doing this for years. I also on occasion shut the phone down in the evenings and won't start it up until morning.

Afternoon All,

Started out in the train room adding the 2nd control box that was easy and performed as advertised (I can do easy). After that I went to Lowes for the train room. I bought 2 sheets of thin Luan plywood for fascia, lacquer thinner for cleaning track, and finally Gorilla CA. After getting home I cut out the fascia boards (9 inch wide) and put 2 coats of paint on them. After drying I mounted 3 (12 ft.) on the completed sections of the peninsula.

Thank you for all the photo likes yesterday.

Joe- Thanks for your explanation.

James- Nice fleet of WP and UP diesels.

Smudge- Nice looking kit, who makes it?

Karl- We did worse than usual but did get enough back to pay for our property taxes.

Steve- Splicing in short pieces of track has been an issue for me. Because of rail joiners on 1–2-inch pieces you don't get many attached ties which becomes problematic when it comes to attaching (track nails) and leveling the track. I always try to have a minimum of 3-4 inches of track. I even really try to do this between multiple turnouts (close together). Since I don't have powered turnouts, I always solder feeders close to the three ends of a turnout to prevent power issues. Also, I don't solder the side of the track joiner on the turnout, only the other end of the joiner, that way a turnout can be easily removed if needed.

Guy- Thank you. All the suggestions I make are usually based on my previous screw ups. 😞

Willie- Nice layout shots.

Dave- Cool photo. I bet that was quite breezy and cold in the winter.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I got the kit from eBay, beebeautifuluk, only the HO loco's wont fit through the doors, so I found out about an hour ago. ☹️
So I could just remove them, but I like them, and I can use it when I'm using my OO scale, so I've ordered a second one from someone else without doors, and a bit fancier too:)

Do they not fit the height or the width?? If its a height problem, a foundation could help here.

Good evening from So. Central Wisconsin. Doctors and therapist appointments the last couple of days. The dentist this morning was a worry as I am having anxiety issues laying down. Spoke to the hygienist before we began and I explained my anxiety and she said no problem. I can clean your teeth with you sitting up. My teeth pain experienced in Texas went away over the weekend and neither the hygienist or the Doctor could see a reason.

Finished up a weathering project. I went back to fixing track issues, weathered wheelsets and wheels for 3 covered hoppers. Mailed out the last 7 weathered pulp cars and tossed in a free load of pulp.

The white glue showing had dried clear this morning.

I really enjoyed weathering the last 2 CP cars. I am tired of the black WC cars and the brown CN’s after doing so many. I have done a few CP cars for GregMrr and 4 for this FB friend.

The next projects are divided into track, layout and weathering all for me. Being home alone has me completing many started odds and ends.

The wife is still in Paradise staying at the brother’s rental. She did something yesterday I am not a fan of. She pre-ordered a Tesla for herself and as gifts for the son and daughter. I admire the profits Tesla is making for its shareholders but I still think of Elon as a carnival barker. The son and wife think the world of him.

No, the heights ok, (just) width is the problem, where the doors are they encroach on the entrance to the point the Loco scrapes against them, and gets stuck. As I said in the previous post, I could just remove the doors altogether but that then defeats the point of having it. I've purchased another one similar to the one I have, according to the seller, the entrance is about 1" wider and has no doors, which is not a lot of extra width, but enough.

I did look at perhaps using this one at the other end of the layout where the Walthers building is going/supposed to go, but I wanted the Walthers building to be the "centerpiece" of the layout, I can have either/or, but not both, my layout's simply not big enough.☹️

Ah well, they say this is an expensive hobby, expensive mistakes too.:)

Good evening. It's cloudy and 64.
The drive home this afternoon was--interesting. If anybody wants to know how much damage a large bird can do to a car traveling 75mph, I can tell you from first-hand experience. It wasn't pretty, and I was very late getting to the nursing home to visit my wife. I need a windshield, rear view mirror, plastic inside surround for the windshield, and part of the luggage rack on the roof.

What hit you a pterodactyl?

When I took my S7 in to be fixed, guy took a look and within seconds got the screen working (I'd spent an entire morning at it and got nothing but a blank screen), so I'm thinking it's fixed. No chance, tells me I need a new phone as Samsung have "locked" it.
Turns out Samsung phones are designed to shut down after so many years in service, I took that with a pinch of salt of course, but then again his former employers were Samsung and he was one of their phone repair techs, so........?
