Afternoon All,
Started out in the train room adding the 2nd control box that was easy and performed as advertised (I can do easy). After that I went to Lowes for the train room. I bought 2 sheets of thin Luan plywood for fascia, lacquer thinner for cleaning track, and finally Gorilla CA. After getting home I cut out the fascia boards (9 inch wide) and put 2 coats of paint on them. After drying I mounted 3 (12 ft.) on the completed sections of the peninsula.
Thank you for all the photo likes yesterday.
Joe- Thanks for your explanation.
James- Nice fleet of WP and UP diesels.
Smudge- Nice looking kit, who makes it?
Karl- We did worse than usual but did get enough back to pay for our property taxes.
Steve- Splicing in short pieces of track has been an issue for me. Because of rail joiners on 1–2-inch pieces you don't get many attached ties which becomes problematic when it comes to attaching (track nails) and leveling the track. I always try to have a minimum of 3-4 inches of track. I even really try to do this between multiple turnouts (close together). Since I don't have powered turnouts, I always solder feeders close to the three ends of a turnout to prevent power issues. Also, I don't solder the side of the track joiner on the turnout, only the other end of the joiner, that way a turnout can be easily removed if needed.
Guy- Thank you. All the suggestions I make are usually based on my previous screw ups.
Willie- Nice layout shots.
Dave- Cool photo. I bet that was quite breezy and cold in the winter.
I hope everyone has a good night.
