Tom (Cam51) is Western NY east of the Falls.
TomO is in Wisconsin (part of the time)
GREG is in Northern Wisconsin (I believe)
or perhaps I am confusing GREG with DAVE B?

I too wish that people filled out a little more info than they mostly do?
LIKE THEIR NAME, AGE, CITY, OR STATE.
People who delve into that sort of stuff can find out everything about you anyway, so that's my take!

Hi,

My name actually is Patrick (Hi Patrick!), and I live in the smallish town of Augusta, KS (and now that you know that I have to kill you!) I work for a much larger town on the south side of Wichita. I'm the father of 35 year old triplets, a 12 year old grandson, 2 9 year old granddaughters, and a nearly 3 year old granddaughter. My wife has put up with me for over 40 years (dating time included), but actually married 39 years at the end of May.

I have a twisted sense of humor (humour for those on the other side of the pond), that I can trace back 3 generations, and fell down the line at least 2 more (my kids and then the grandkids). At least they all come by it honestly.

Mom was doing ok. Took her out for nice lunch and to pickup an order at IKEA.

Afternoon All,

Wife is feeling poorly but the Covid test was negative. She must have caught a bug during the book fair. I know when I fully participate, I always end up sick. Dad and I got our 2nd booster today. Tomorrow Dad has the geek squad coming to the house. He bought a new desktop computer (his was dying) last week and they're transferring everything over. It's going to be a chore; his passwords are all long random strings of letters and numbers. The problem is he can't read his own writing 😲 which is poor at best.

Today was another good day in the train room (I can get used to this!). I started out running a loco onto the TT, reversing the bridge 180 degrees then running the engine off followed by running both reverse loops without issue.:D After getting back home I cleaned the main (CMX car) which was filthy then cleaned the reverse loops which weren't too bad.

Tomorrow I believe I'm chauffeuring the wife around delivering certificates to business's that were voted #1 people's choice for the previous year.

Patrick- Again, best wishes for tomorrow.

Gary- That photo is very cool.

George- I thought subs were cramped. That's ridiculous.

Troy- Good luck with Mom and your writing.

Willie- I really like the curtains. Enlarged they look like venetian blinds to me.

Guy- Nice looking tank car. It looks like you collect tank cars like I do coal hoppers.

Dave- Being a logging type RR I would not expect to see much.

Jaz- Is that a bus on a truck frame?

Good morning all! Overcast and 38 with a high later of 45 and rain. Our nice spring weather has gone back to late winter this week. Can't wait for the warm and a little dryer weather to come back so I can get some things done outside to prepare for gardening. Hoping to raise a good size garden this year so my wife is able to can a lot of produce. With prices the way they are with no drop in sight, we hope to can or freeze a lot of food.

Another busy day at work yesterday, though not as hectic as the two prior days. We've been trying to get the computers in one of our classrooms upgraded to Window 11 lately but for some reason it isn't working on all of them. My colleague at the district office pushes out the upgrade overnight and several of them upgrade, but not all of them. I made changes in the BIOS on some of them yesterday and hoping that will help, but some already had the changes and still wouldn't upgrade even though they should. May have to do each of them manually.

That's about it from here. Hope you all have a great day!
Dont ya just love Micro$oft? I cant tell you the amount of money i have made because of the wishy-washy way they roll out the "latest and greatest" ...um... Software. Nother day nother dollar!

Update on MIL: Admitted. They treated the bowel and got her over that hurdle, but blood sugar was over 500. She's in the fragile-diabetic category, and they didn't want to crash her trying to get it down super fast... so it's an overnight issue.

My mother gets assessed by home-healthcare nurse tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. She's still got major brain fog. The granddaughter who has "mom duty" tomorrow is primed with questions and answers for the nurse.

Mom goes to see her internal med doc on Monday.

I'm back on Tues for mom duty. Until then, I need to write at least 10K words to finish this dang book.

Oy vey! What a week

Troy, brain fog is one of the issues plaguing my wife right now. They did some checking, and it turned out her blood CO2 levels were extremely high. They hooked her up to a bipap, and after 24 hours, the levels were reduced, and she is less foggy.
If youyr MIL was ever a smoker, one of the COPD things can be high CO2.

Hello Shop Dwellers!

Steve [J] - Wow, if your knee injury is having that kind of impact on your life, you really need to get that reparative surgery done ASAP! Then again, maybe you already scheduled it and the wait time is incredibly long? (I had to wait 5 weeks for my prostate cancer surgery...)
. . .
IBKen I'll be there on the 30th.
. . .
Karl - 👍👍 please convey my thanks to Sharon!

Greg - I feel your [stock market] pain: Today I got the quarterly statement from my largest portfolio and saw it had lost 10% of its total value!☹️ Hopefully these losses won't become the "new normal."

In the model train realm: With my Centerlines all restored to reliable operation, I had to turn my attention to another layout problem that's existed since I first built the layout but only surfaced sporadically: the metal throw levers on some of my Tortoise machines were just a hair too long, and would occasionally scrape the bottoms of the my loco truck gearboxes and make them hesitate. I discovered just how bad the problem was when I was using one of my mill switchers to test my Centerline cars. Apparently its gearbox hangs really low, because it either got stopped cold or even derailed when it hit one of these slightly protruding levers.

If you're wondering why I kept putting-off dealing with the problem, it's because these levers are all made of steel piano wire [to give them more strength] and cannot be trimmed with a pair of rail nippers, unlike the softer brass rods. It seemed like my only option would be to crawl under the layout and remove them from Tortoise machines so I could use a more robust cutting tool on them, then go thru the heartburn of re-aligning them in the turnout throwbars all over again. Then I remembered the 90-degree attachment on one of my Dremels: If I could put a fiberglass cutting wheel on that, and carefully position it so it wouldn't touch the rails, I could grind the steel levers down by 1/32nd of an inch - enough to clear the loco gearboxes. I tried it and was successful the first time, so I trimmed all three problem levers that way...mission accomplished, no more hesitating locos - hooray!

Good Night - and have a Pleasant Tomorrow!

Ok, so the plan for today has gone out the window, (no surprise there).

Plan was to remove all the feeders and turnouts from the old track, take the switch wiring from the old turnouts and wire in the new ones, plus feeders, start clearing the area that the new building is destined for (remove the TT etc.).
Make a start on assembling the the Loco shed, or Goods shed, whichever I'm in the mood for.
And hopefully sort a few Loco's with decoders while waiting for the glue to dry.

Nah, not happening, the IPL (Cricket, 2 matches), and qualifying for the Australian F1 Grand Prix that's on tomorrow.

Flo, Coffee and doughnuts please, and keep them coming.😂

Good Morning!
We suffered a 35F drop in temperature overnight, to achieve a morning cool of 35F. It fell from the 70F of yesterday. The winds are the worst of it; the sound of things clanking around outside woke me up at 5am.
It's going to be a great day, all the same! It's Saturday and there isn't diddly that I can do about the weather, so it's a good day to be happy instead of miserable.

I've received another 3x tankcars in the mailbox. I'm all jollied-up; I like them all:

I've spent about $500.00 of a 6.5k refund check on the 8 tankcars bought over the past couple of weeks. I don't feel selfish, though. I gave the wife 3k and invested the rest in the dismal quagmire of the stock market.

The 8 tankcars give me a total of 12 good railcars, as I also have 4 really nice boxcars. Plus I own 6x Trainline open-hoppers and another 3x Trainline tankcars. I'd say the trainline stuff is midscale. - The rest of my collection is all Model Power hook-n-anchor junk.
I do wish I could find a nice caboose. Finding a fitting caboose seems to be a-bit tougher to do. The 3 Model Power caboose's I have all seem iffy.

I'm a sick person. I filled all the screw holes on my layout tables yesterday, and feel the need to apply more wood filler to erase that little dent where yesterdays filler shrunk. I'm afraid the dent will be highly noticeable through paint. If it's too noticeable, it will bug me in my dreams. So, I suppose I'll be applying a 2nd filler coat today. - Then I'll have to wait until tomorrow before I paint. It will require sanding and sufficient dry-time.

Wow! look at me go; yap, yap, yap! I'd better go walk the dog, and give others some room in here. The cups empty anyway.
Have a great day!
