Out of curiosity? Are you noticing any mental fog that isn't part of not sleeping well? Mom is running about 50-70% of her normal level of mental awareness. She is speaking ok, but slowly. And details are gone. She'll say she had an infection instead of explaining her heart was in AFIB. Close... AFIB ... An Infection... I can see how those wires got crossed.

I can see when she's struggling to find the right word. Normally she runs through all of the grandkid names until the one in front of her reacts (That's normal for her since the 1970s... I kept getting called my uncle's names, and my sisters were whichever interchangeably.) Now she stares off, and you can see her searching but the details aren't there. That's a huge change from a month ago.
Checking in for a quick moment - ACTUALLY - delaying turning on the water as I am afraid of a blowout!

TROY - Please take everything as a grain of salt as I am far, far from being any sort of a medical person, BUT it sure seems to me that her mental awareness is not from her heart? It sure sounds to me that it is the result of a stroke?, or other "aging, mental" problem? I have not had any sort of mind failure that I am aware of?

Funny about calling through the alphabet to get to the correct kid! I have seen this with my wife and her three girls ever since we were married -- and with her Mom's three daughters. Occasionally, even, JOHN, - my brother in law - gets caught up in the search! Being an only child - I missed out on a lot!

JAZZDAD! I certainly hope that you gave yourself a large enough raise that it counted? BAHAHAHA!

Good Afternoon Everyone....windy and some light rain with more on its way. The daffodils are at their full growing height and full of buds that survive our changes in temperatures. Approximately an inch of rain over night. Not much this winter in the way of snow. I think one or two six snowfalls the entire season.

A car arrived from Kalmbach Hobby Store. It's a 40' Refrigerator Car for the Milwaukee, Racine and Troy Railroad (MR&T) the model railroad at Kalmbach's Headquarters in Waukesha, Wisconsin. I ordered the car so long ago that I forgot it's coming. I have several of the cars for the MR&T. A light coat of Dullcoat, metal wheels and Kadee couplers and it's on its way after an easy assembly.

I hope for a railroad day tomorrow, but window treatments for the kitchen bay window are being installed as well as the window in the door that leads to the three seasons room.

Willie: I can't believe that you have planted so many crops so early in the year, early at least for us since Memorial day is the start of our planting season. At the cabin, the area around it is mostly a blend of sand and other soils, so the material stays warm at night even with a light frost. This allows a earlier planting and many farmers get two crops of cucumbers each year. Corn and soy beans are the other main crops grown in the area.

The sandy soils require almost daily irrigation that many feel this practice is lowering the area lake levels.

Curt: Nice looking Turn Table!

My NWSL beveled gears for my Shay haven't arrived as of yet. No problems with the Shay to date, but I'll keep the gears in my inventory for when the day comes for the replacement of the factory gears is needed.

Yesterday I drove the car for the first time in several months. Cathy usually likes to drive in her Rav4 so I let her. I'll drive both ways to the cabin and and I'll do it in a single day.

That's about all for now.....

Greg

Good afternoon all,

32° and cloudy, a little snow squall passed through last hour but nothing stuck. Wind is really something today, I guess we are on the back side of the big Low that has been dominating our weather the last few days.

Job interviews/ performance reviews-- My take on the job interview is in many ways, they are looking at your personality and if you will be easy to work with and productive. Somehow they know I was born a republican, and there is very little I can do about that. I was "Born that way". Hence, I had a tough time working in State government.

So - it is a blessing that I did not get hired by the State. Yes, sometimes it is a blessing NOT to get hired.

Like Jazzdad, I got to write my own performance review this year.

Sherrel - hope the sprinkler works! hate to see you hauling pails of water!!! By the way, I am glad you include the first initial of your last name because I might mix you up with the other Sherrel's 😁

Jaz avalley - you are quite the modeler! I wondered why the busses were on the wrong side of the road as well.

Here are some pics of some vehicles I unpacked last night, I am playing with them on the new layout

(I am not unpacking locomotives (except the Milwaukee Road H10-44 I used to test my wiring) and the (M&St.L) boxcar and logger bobber. I don't want to run on the dirty track, and don't want to clean the track until I get the ballast done

I saved the original package of all these, but too lazy to dig them out. It is an old car. It has a real trunk.

Here is another old car. The time frame of my layout is 1901 to 1939. There will be times when I run a couple Diesels, however.

Lastly, an old pickup. This is the layout I am building now. I have a couple dead and half dead trees and some vegetation completed.

More later, Dave LASM

Afternoon All,

Feeling a bit under the weather. I think I have picked up the Wife's cold bug. She says "your welcome" ☹️. I took 2 naps today, so I haven't accomplished anything. Dad got his computer info transferred today. Also, today it's probably rained another 2 inches. Not sure what's on the agenda tomorrow/. I guess it depends how the wife and I feel.

Terry- Continued prayers for your wife and you.

Joe- Sorry to hear about your supply issues. I'm glad that part of the layout is done.

Mike- I wish you the best with your doctors.

TomO- Nice haul.

Willie- Thank you. The bungalow looks good.

Sherrel- I think your wife is teasing you:D. Mom used to do the name thing all the time.

Greg- Thank you. My Atlas Black Box RS1 (fully detailed and weathered) has just started making gear noises.

Dave- My wife worked for the FL state park system. She went 7 years without a pay raise or even a COL adjustment.

I hope everyone has a good night.

You can turn the firewall off and then do the install, just go into your antivirus programme, then settings, should be there somewhere, unless you intend for them to install the loksound for you?
They installed it (firewall) I told them my plans on what I was doing and they said no problem, so they're going to fix it.
What operating systems between the 2 computers? I had programs using Windows 7, that ran when I upgraded to Windows 10 that won't install under Windows 11. Does the install say anything or just die? I even had some that installed, but didn't run.
Only one computer windows 11. I can download but on the install part it says unable to install.

Windows 11 is the beginning of the death of a lot of legacy hardware and software (meaning old). Is there a newer download for the software?
Well they tried to install it and it wouldn't work. Ended being the antivirus wouldn't allow the program. They ended up going into that program and allowing it to download. So now it recognizes it and will allow in the future with new updates.

Problem with the Auto Train. I was watching the feed from the Ashland Virtual Railcam and police started showing up around the Ashland station about an hour ago. The AT was still north of the station a few miles heading south to Florida. The AT finally came to a stop a couple miles north of Ashland, out of camera range then the video feed was cut. There is a second cam there that looks north. That feed was cut too.
Apparently, something might happen that they don't want the general public to see.
No Looking at the AT tonight.

Good morning Everybody!

My prayers and best wishes for all of those who are suffering.

I've been extremely busy, thank God. I have had time to check-in and read most of the posts.

I love all the pictures, thank you all for sharing!

Today I had to post this.
Free MLB.TV with Amazon Prime and for most T-Mobile subscribers.

I got to go now, have a great day Everybody!

Play Ball!

Good morning all! Overcast and 38 with a high later of 45 and rain. Our nice spring weather has gone back to late winter this week. Can't wait for the warm and a little dryer weather to come back so I can get some things done outside to prepare for gardening. Hoping to raise a good size garden this year so my wife is able to can a lot of produce. With prices the way they are with no drop in sight, we hope to can or freeze a lot of food.

Another busy day at work yesterday, though not as hectic as the two prior days. We've been trying to get the computers in one of our classrooms upgraded to Window 11 lately but for some reason it isn't working on all of them. My colleague at the district office pushes out the upgrade overnight and several of them upgrade, but not all of them. I made changes in the BIOS on some of them yesterday and hoping that will help, but some already had the changes and still wouldn't upgrade even though they should. May have to do each of them manually.

That's about it from here. Hope you all have a great day!

Morning! Supposed to hit 97f for a high today - then by the weekend we are supposed to be in the 60's again ... weird weather.

My glue joint held - so far! I am surprised as I was not able to get both pipes shoved down as far as I had hoped. In my haste, I forget to mark which electrical wires went where so, I will have to sort that out this morning. grrrr!
