Hello Shop Dwellers!
[
I had planned to post this message last night, but news of Garry'
s passing overshadowed that. ] Here's a quick acknowledgement to those of you who either clicked the button or commented on my Wednesday post of the Weirton Steel video:

Vallejo are excellent paints, I certainly look at a lot of military sites for figures, trying to get the best, particularly that which photographs is really important,I notice a lot do a dark grey or black base coat so no model shows through and if the brush can’t reach then it should be shadow so the black is the correct colour.

this was me wanting to try and make fire and smoke, but not willing to trial it on the railway models, light again is an issue I had no access to full sun, I should re photograph

Jaz - that is absolutely the
best 3-D modeling of flames that I've ever seen!

I'm guessing you coated some clumps of cotton with white, yellow and orange oil paints? I can practically see the heat waves rising off the fire...
. . .
IB Ken - A lot of simultaneous action in that video.
. . .
Willie, that's one of the reasons I never get tired of watching that video. A real-life spaghetti bowl of trackwork!
CTC -
welcome to the Coffee Shop! Great-looking train shed, can't wait to see what's in it.
. . .
KEN - I absolutely loved that video. I still am slowly adding "howtoos" to the MAC but cannot seem to add it. I would appreciate if you would "e" me the link to that one, I would like to keep it?
. . .
Sherrell - glad you enjoyed it, I sent the link as you requested - check your inbox!

Since it's now Friday evening, the mid-day darkness doesn't have me depressed. For possible trainroom activity, I may try to finish the 14ft view block between my main classification yard and the staging tracks. A local mrr friend spray-painted the Evergreen corrugated sheet sections for me earlier this week; I could probably cement them onto the Masonite, but first I may pay a visit to the local HD to see if they have any plastic molding strips like they use along windows - running that along the top edge will make the wall look more like the side of an actual building.
Seeing the flame photos that Jaz posted on Thursday morning, I figured I would dig out a photo of something similar that I attempted in a doctored-up photo of a slag dump on my previous layout. I set one of the slag pots in the 'tipped' position and poured a bunch of Day-Glo orange and yellow craft paint on the adjoining slope, while my daughter held a blacklight fixture above it to make the paint "glow":
The smoke was digitally "sprayed-on" with my image editor.
Here's an earlier version of the image
before I finished editing it:
Good Night - and have a Pleasant Tomorrow!
