Good Morning gang

Flo, Large black coffee please, and can Mel whip up a sausage and cheese Omelet please?

Terry, thank you so much for posting Garry's obit. I would encourage everyone to sign the guestbook, so that Garry's family can see how many lives he did touch. A few have already done it, It would be really neat if everyone did. I'm sure the family would love it.

Guy, did you marry Clark Griswold's sister?

Troy, There used to be a Chinese restaurant near here that served a killer Mai Tai . 1 with dinner, and you were a little buzzed,, 2 with dinner and SWMBO was driving home.

Hello from the warmth of the Islands. 4:20am as I start typing this. The tour around Pearl Harbor and visiting of the Arizona Memorial was heart warming and special to this student of the US Navy in WW2. I remember as a grade schooler repeatedly going through my dad’s books on the Pacific that he was in but NEVER talked about.

I had a lot more in my mind when I sat down to my IPad but reading about Garry’s passing just took it out of me. I also have not been a long term member here but he was one of the Crew that made me want to stay here and hopefully I have contributed. Please sign into his obituary that Terry was gracious enough to post.

We should be back at the brother’s in time for some afternoon golf that I have been talked into. I will leave the hat on this time.

Talladega train station
After deleting the blurry photos, attached are the pictures of a 1916 Louisville and Nashville typical small town station.
The Talladega Chamber of Commerce currently occupies the station. The L&N sign, especially, could use some repair work.
The track ran along the front of the station where the cars are parked

Good afternoon.
I just got a collection notice from my doctor’s office. The insurance company didn’t pay for the annual physical. So, I called the insurance company. Turns out, they don’t pay for that, either. I was more than a little steamed at that point, since I’ve been paying several hundred dollars a month, and asked them to tell me what they DID pay for. Here is a list of all the things they cover:

And a $10,000 deductible, as well.

Good Morning all! A brisk 55 degrees but sunny day. Forecasted to reach 67.
Re-caulking the bathtub and a grocery pick up are on today's agenda so train time is going to be slim to none.

I felt bad reading of Garry's passing. It is somewhat strange, I never actually met Garry, I don't think think we every even used "conversations" from the forum, and yet I felt like a good friend had passed. Condolences to his family.

STAY SAFE
LATER

Afternoon All,

Just can't seem to get motivated in the train room today. I did light the powerhouse and added some small clump bushes around the mine parking lot. I tried out the new fine sand ground cover behind Hendrix Foundry which is hid pretty well. It covers well but...it looks like sand and needs some texture, so I got a container and mixed fine with medium. I'll see what it looks like tomorrow. In other news I dropped my PRR coffee cup this morning shattering it. :( MOH said guess what you're getting for Christmas?

I talked to Phil last night and gave him the news about Garry.

Willie- Nice looking locos. I much prefer the blue and yellow scheme (FWIW).

Guy- Your house looks better than mine, because I don't outside decorate.

Mikey- Nice looking station.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Hello Shop Dwellers!

[I had planned to post this message last night, but news of Garry's passing overshadowed that. ] Here's a quick acknowledgement to those of you who either clicked the button or commented on my Wednesday post of the Weirton Steel video: Jaz, Tom-O, Hughie, Guy, Sherrell, Chad, OB-Ken, Willie, Patrick, Karl, Tom-C51, Christian, Louis

Vallejo are excellent paints, I certainly look at a lot of military sites for figures, trying to get the best, particularly that which photographs is really important,I notice a lot do a dark grey or black base coat so no model shows through and if the brush can’t reach then it should be shadow so the black is the correct colour.

I have enlarged some and left others as thumbnails

Jaz - that is absolutely the best 3-D modeling of flames that I've ever seen! 👍👍 I'm guessing you coated some clumps of cotton with white, yellow and orange oil paints? I can practically see the heat waves rising off the fire...

. . .
IB Ken - A lot of simultaneous action in that video.
. . .
Willie, that's one of the reasons I never get tired of watching that video. A real-life spaghetti bowl of trackwork!

CTC - welcome to the Coffee Shop! Great-looking train shed, can't wait to see what's in it.

. . .
KEN - I absolutely loved that video. I still am slowly adding "howtoos" to the MAC but cannot seem to add it. I would appreciate if you would "e" me the link to that one, I would like to keep it?
. . .
Sherrell - glad you enjoyed it, I sent the link as you requested - check your inbox!

Since it's now Friday evening, the mid-day darkness doesn't have me depressed. For possible trainroom activity, I may try to finish the 14ft view block between my main classification yard and the staging tracks. A local mrr friend spray-painted the Evergreen corrugated sheet sections for me earlier this week; I could probably cement them onto the Masonite, but first I may pay a visit to the local HD to see if they have any plastic molding strips like they use along windows - running that along the top edge will make the wall look more like the side of an actual building.

Seeing the flame photos that Jaz posted on Thursday morning, I figured I would dig out a photo of something similar that I attempted in a doctored-up photo of a slag dump on my previous layout. I set one of the slag pots in the 'tipped' position and poured a bunch of Day-Glo orange and yellow craft paint on the adjoining slope, while my daughter held a blacklight fixture above it to make the paint "glow":

The smoke was digitally "sprayed-on" with my image editor.

Here's an earlier version of the image before I finished editing it:

Good Night - and have a Pleasant Tomorrow!

Good morning. It's clear and 24.
I have found something that is definitely better with the new company. The health insurance. Even the "worst" coverage offered is significantly better in every way than what I currently have. And it's less than $20 a week, versus nearly $80.
