Morning all,

75° and clear, high of 96° later.

Waiting on the call to go in. Hopefully the equipment is in. According to FedEx, it was tagged by Dell as security equipment that had to be delivered on site, only finding that out after I drove the 15 miles one way to get it at the main terminal in Wichita. All because a driver decided he really didn't want to work yesterday.

Oh well, I do get overtime.

BBL
They can do that? Just not go to work? I'd give them two of those and the third strike would be out. Properly documented of course. Unreal.

Do they have a site for customer feedback?

Good day, all! Doing a lot of running around. Haven't been in the train room in several months. To get to it have to go through my wife's study, which, right now, is very cluttered. She is working on straightening several other rooms. Those two rooms are an add-on we put in about 15 years ago, and has a separate HVAC system. Air temp in metro-Denver supposed to go to at least 97-100 today and tomorrow, and I suddenly realized I hadn't turned on the A/C! Temp in there read 82, so I set is to 72. Otherwise worried the track might expand. So far it hasn't, however.

Had some discomfort in my neck that lasted a couple of weeks, and went to the doc, who ordered a CT scan. Didn't find anything there...BUT, turned up an ulcer with outpouching in my descending aorta! NOT an aneurism per se, but needs to be fixed sooner than later. Referred to a vascular surgeon who says, "It isn't a ticking time bomb, but needs fixing." Always get second and sometimes third and fourth opinions, so am waiting on some other vascular types to get back to me. Needless to say, it is nerve-wracking. Sort of like what a submariner I knew described waiting for a depthcharging.

The package was supposed to be delivered by 1:00. I met the driver at the closed office at 1:20. We had another issue crop up at the water tower, I said it's the vendor's issue. Vendor showed up and insisted it was my network and they were billing us. 2 minutes later I proved to the ass it was his issue and he has to order equipment. Meanwhile, I got my other stuff resolved. We have everything up and running. 5.5 hours of OT is a plus.

It's hot and as the weather man says its muggly. However that being said what do y'all purddy folk do to cool off. im considering getting a pool for the back yard but something to relax in when its in the 90 somethings.
I'm an advocate for the pool. I have a large 24" diameter above ground one that I enjoy more than once a day. I've had one since 1993. Perfect when mowing, I just park the tractor next to it and jump in. Just be aware that there is some amount of maintenance to go along with it.

When we moved to San Jose from NY my dad had a pool put in the new house. They dug up the whole backyard. I thought it was great until I was designated the one to keep it clean. 40'x20' and IIRC it was 12' at the deep end. I was so happy to go off to college, then move out.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those taking the plunge

It's Troy again

Cooked burgers on the gas grill while wife did onion rings in the air fryers. Onion rings... she spent two summers ago trying her hardest to make them work as home-made. Nothing worked as well as purchasing premade bagged ones. Current favorites that I can get are the Nathan's brand.

After that we went to the Heartland Sings concert in our neighborhood. The leader (maestro) and one of their singers live in our condo complex, so we get a few free concerts every summer. They's got the "aRt-V with a mobile stage they travel with. The singers give voice lessons to kids, and their concert outreach help them give the gift of music education to the underprivileged with scholarships to their program.

But our neighborhood doesn't really help much with the money side, unless someone we don't know about is underwriting the concerts. Tonight was about 20 of us with lawn chairs listening.

No one wants to be close to the stage for some reason. We all find the shady spots on both sides of the road.

But, tonight's was under-promoted. One email from the HOA earlier this week. Normally we get a schedule of when they'll be here and what the musical themes would be. I skip the country one, even though the wife tells me it's all pop songs. There's just so much Twang I can handle, and tonight's "pop songs" included Jolene... that was enough twang for the entire year.

In other news, tomorrow I'll be smoking the pork shoulder for MIL's Bday part on Sunday. So the pork is salted and in the fridge for a dry brine. I did add the rub to the fat cap side to give it a chance to soak in. I'll add it to the other side tomorrow morning before it hits the Kamado.

if I had the money for a ground one it would be nice but on fixed income I'll be perfectly content with an inflateable. if I had the money get a really nice inground heated pool because apparently having a heated pool or hot tub when it snows feels really nice I'm in a new area so this winter will be a new one I used to live south of indianapolis where it was a gift to see snow apparently up here it gets bad.

What temp? How tough is flank steak? Don’t over cook it in the water bath.

Sounds yummy.
I cook at 138F. I didn't have it in there long enough this time at 2.5 hours. Maybe another hour might have been better. Last time I did this, it came out very soft with a first bite chew (if that makes sense - not stew meat). This time was a little bit more chewy.

I cook my ribeyes at this temp as well, but only for 1.5 hours. Family doesn't like it moo-ing still.

Rib roast - same temp but for 6 hours.
