Good afternoon all,
78 and the sky is rumbling, however I can see blue between the clouds.
Been obsessing over two things, the manual turntable (modeled after the NP prototype) and the Varney 4-6-0.
I spent several hours on the turntable this morning, got it fit, finished, and tested- passed! Will post photos after the glue dries,
Also took the Varney apart no less than 4 times. The locomotive would now meet Swiss watch specifications in tolerances
The drive wheels were off a smidgen in the quartering and spacing. The front truck was actually picking up current from the wrong track, hard to believe it ran at all. A couple of the side rods were attached with screws that actually belonged elsewhere, were about 1/32 too long.
It both started raining, poured, and stopped in the time it took to write this post.
Got all that fixed, and removed some of the tiny moving details associated with the drivers, those were somewhat worn and would sometimes bind. Hard to notice the missing parts without someone pointing them out.
