Me too! Then the humidity arrived and that was the end of that.

How about some Crusaders to accompany the Archangel? White with a red Cross is a cool look.
My crusaders have Blue and Yellow as their army colors. You might find a similar color scheme on a flag in our modern times.

You might remember that I did up a Milities Christie faction for another game, but I went with Knight Hospitaller of St. John,

On a side note, you'll find only "cool colors" in my armies (or blacks/greys). The butternut on Johnny Reb is about as warm as I get. I'm just not fond of reds and oranges. Yellows have to be the secondary color to be included.

but, my box of dwarves with dragons showed up. Now I have to assemble and paint those.

Good morning all. A Continental Breakfast please, Flo.

Last night Dawn and I wet to the Glasshouse. (It used to be called the Sage.) Our older granddaughter was appearing in a production of 'The 'Angels of the North'. Obviously our daughter, SiL and grandson were there also to watch. Lovely to see them again. It was a late night for everyone. (We arrived home just before midnight.) I hope the grandchildren made it to school this morning.

This afternoon our younger granddaughter is appearing in a Musical. The venue is a small one and our granddaughter can invite only one person. That is me. :)

Youngest grandson visiting after school.

Is Brave Sir Robin out there? 😄

Morning all,

Little drizzle on the way in this morning , where it's 69° and cloudy with a high of 79° later.

Troy: As a nearly 50 year fan of MP, I found your rendition of King Arthur and his loyal steed Patsy, to be spot on.

Found this yesterday. I'd rate him a strong PG-13 but I thought he was funny. I had never heard of him before.

Have a good rest of your day.

Good morning gang!

67° and sunny skies with high in the mid 80s today! Yesterday, the home nursing people arrived and checked me out and said I’m doing good. Today the physical therapist shall be here around lunchtime. Making lots of little baby steps that will get there. Thanks again for all the well wishes.

Another, even milder morning here at 76°F at 0750. Lots of cloud cover with an advancing low to the southwest that's going to bring rain by tonight and tomorrow.

I might install those LEDs today. I also have a very nice workshop kit by Busch that needs to be started, but that might still be a week or two down the road.

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 70°, might hit 82° later today. High yesterday was just 77°, but the 90's return tomorrow for the rest of the summer. Yesterday's rain event just didn't happen here, although some areas east and southeast of me had drizzle/light rain all day. I'd call it a trace in my gauge, it was wet but not enough to register. Same area is getting more precipitation this morning, but it has come no closer than 25 miles from me. We're probably done with rain until October now.

I gave the mower the day off yesterday since we had that mist and drizzle on occasion, probably won't use it until tomorrow. I will use the weedeater today though. First is going to be the weekly grocery trek. We have an extensive list now that my wife is back home. So far I have additional stops planned for Target for TP and paper towels, Home Depot for chlorine for the pool, the pool store to have the water tested again after following their recommendations last week; and we'll be dropping the Accura off at the local shop to have the rear hatch thingamajig checked out. It opens but does not stay up! Rather troublesome when loading or unloading.
Continued to pick Tomatoes in the garden and I am finally seeing tiny green beans growing from the flowers. It's interesting that I am picking Yellow Squash but not Zucchini yet. It's usually the other way around.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued to add more parts to the P2K covered hopper. It is annoying however, to have to do touch-up painting on those white sprue marks. In case you're wondering, the car is for Continental Grain Co, and has a white body with black undersides and a black end frame and ladders. It's similar to this car from a different manufacturer.

I finally solved a mystery that has been bugging me for well over a year now. I keep finding cows in a certain pasture on the layout knocked over. I initially suspected a mouse, but I had set traps to no avail, and I never saw any mouse droppings. Yesterday I finally saw the culprit. I don't know what it's called, but it looks like a flat lizard. Didn't get a picture because it was gone when I got back with the camera. It is about 4" long plus a 2" tail, and no more than 3/8" high, maybe even less. I looked up lizards, salamanders and skinks on the web, but didn't see anything native to my area. It's the same thing as the one that I had between the window and screen that I posted about last month. This one is smaller, so it's not the same one. The other one has moved to the back porch and I occasionally see it when I step out to pee after dusk.

Kusojiji - I meant to also comment regarding the obsolete solar panel and battery waste hasn't been addressed here either. Obsolete wind turbines are next!
Mike - I just never read the fine print in the ScaleTrains E-mails.
Pool water here is 83°. It's time to put up the shade umbrellas, since the tornado wiped out some of the trees that shaded it in the afternoon.
Tom O - I have done a name search of me on the Internet before. A lot is from when my kids used to post to "My Space" back in the 90's, despite me telling them that they shouldn't be posting private information. But the biggest offender in my case is governmental agencies. It's information that has always been public, but in the old days, you had to go to a county or state office and request it. Now it's all posted.
Hughie - Thanks.

Everybody have a great Thursday.

Good morning all!

Currently 70F heading up to a high of 83F. Not going to be quite as warm as originally forecasted. Thats
fine with me. I still have a little weeding to finish up from yesterday.

Took the first swim of the season with my daughter last night. The thermometer on the floater said it had risen to 76F.
Not sure if it was quite that warm but was decent after the initial shock and we got used to it. We stayed in for a little
over an hour. Think we are the first ones in the immediate neighborhood to use our pool this season.

Did get a little layout work done yesterday, will probably post that later.

Not much else going on, hope to keep it that way.

have a safe day everyone!

Mild? 76 at 0750? Holy cow!

Would love to see some action shots with lights on!

This is the worst part of trips to Asia (besides having to come home 😜). Jet lag is much worse going W to E and I’m suffering right now. We went to bed about our normal time (which is later than it should be) last night and I slept ok. A few pee runs. I got up around 9am and have been tired but ok to start. But now at 1pm, I’m a walking zombie and have a bad head ache. I took an ibuprofen and an acetaminophen and will take a short nap. It’s late enough that the nap shouldn’t screw up the cycle and will hopefully take the edge off the zombie state and the head ache. It’s like this all the time when we return. Takes a few days to adjust. Going there is not as bad.
I have never flown across the globe, but I think it is similar to fracking around the clock.

For 7 days we worked 4pm to 8am. Then we had 7 days of 4am to 8pm. Then we got to drive home for our week off, for me that was 11 hours if I did not stop and camp somewhere.

Not sure what schedule I kept on the week off, but I think I wanted to sleep the entire time!

I managed to maintain that schedule for 9 months. I was a walking zombie

It is amazing what the human body can endure.

Good morning from HOME in Wisconsin. 65f degrees heading to 79 and it’s too cool to be out on the deck right now as it’s cloudy, no sun and a 12mph breeze. But it’s great to be home! Vegas right now is 86 heading to 106.

The brother and I went for the walk this morning. 30 minutes out, rest 5 and head back. He did well and handled the hills in the subdivision quite well. His board meeting is at 11 and I’m not helping him. His assistant flew here with us and she will keep him on the straight and narrow.

At 1 I will head over to a friend’s place. He is working on his mushroom style layout and has been doing the big central peninsula that is actually a no-lix. Just a crazy amount of framing but it’s what he wanted. When done this will be the second mushroom type layout I’ve operated on

Enjoy the day

Good Morning Y'all! It's Summertime at the Jersey Shore....finally....

Just fielded a spam call, the "Local Police" fundraiser scam is alive and ongoing.
Problem is with upcoming medical procedures I pretty much have to answer all incoming calls for now. Of course, when they start their spiel, I just disconnect.

Good morning all,

62f and windy, hazy again. We have had air quality alerts pretty much every day this month. Lots of smoke makes its way over to east central Minnesota, where I live.

Mowing lawn on the agenda for today, it is supposed to start raining about 5 pm and rain all the way into tomorrow sometime. We need the rain, our pond is low for mid June. The farmers could use some too, in my area they grow mostly corn, soybeans, alfalfa. We have a few dairy farms in the area, one is quite large, they still have two big bunkers full of last year's haylage. Not sure how long that lasts.

There are countless beef farms here because we have lots of rocky areas. If the magnetic poles shift or we get one of those EM blasts and electronics fails, we can easily live off the beef in the area.

We turn our heat on if the house feels chilly, we have nights getting down to low 40's. I think we ran the AC twice this year, back in May when we had a few days in the 90's.

I finished up a lot of the area around the Grantsburg Depot yesterday, and then cleaned up the train shed so I can run trains for a while. Did a bunch of detail work on my ballast and scenery. Ran my 4 locomotives, had to do some tinkering on 3 of them (mostly cleaning up the wheels), but got them all running smoothly. Just about all of my box cars (I do not have a count, but my wife believes there to be 100), flat cars, and my 1 tanker car and 1 gondola are all on the layout now.

When I do layout landscape work, I have stuff all over that i am adding and glueing down. It has to get put away before I feel comfortable running the trains. Right now, the shed is really cleaned up and I will be running trains later on.

I replaced my 10 year old work station yesterday. I wanted to upgrade to W11 now. I funded it by selling a pistol to the guy I have been mentoring. If you saw the HK Keanu Reaves used in John Wick 1 that is the basic rig (compensator, mags, etc) I sold him. Only difference is that mine is a VP9L (striker fired) and not the movie P30L (hammer fired).

I'm not a gamer so I don't need a fancy system, but got a great deal on a 2025 production HP, with Ryzen 7 processor. More power and memory than I will ever use. It's running flawlessly and I'm real happy with it, but W11 is taking some getting used to.

That would be a tough schedule. Jumping around like that is super tough.

Right out of high school I had a summer job from midnight to eight. 5 days a week I slept during the day and worked the 12-8am job and two days a week I tried to keep a normal schedule so I could do normal things with friends, family, and society — ho to church, shop, etc.

I was always tired.

Jet lag is a bit different as it’s actually a change in the daylight / nighttime cycle your body gets into. I’m not a doctor or medical person or similar so I won’t say more. They’re probably related phenomena. But for jet lag it’s a lot harder when you travel W to E than traveling E to W for some reason. Not only my experience but a U.S. army study, and probably other studies, have shown this.

I don’t know how shift workers manage.
