Good Morning All. Cloudy and 70°, might hit 82° later today. High yesterday was just 77°, but the 90's return tomorrow for the rest of the summer. Yesterday's rain event just didn't happen here, although some areas east and southeast of me had drizzle/light rain all day. I'd call it a trace in my gauge, it was wet but not enough to register. Same area is getting more precipitation this morning, but it has come no closer than 25 miles from me. We're probably done with rain until October now.
I gave the mower the day off yesterday since we had that mist and drizzle on occasion, probably won't use it until tomorrow. I will use the weedeater today though. First is going to be the weekly grocery trek. We have an extensive list now that my wife is back home. So far I have additional stops planned for Target for TP and paper towels, Home Depot for chlorine for the pool, the pool store to have the water tested again after following their recommendations last week; and we'll be dropping the Accura off at the local shop to have the rear hatch thingamajig checked out. It opens but does not stay up! Rather troublesome when loading or unloading.
Continued to pick Tomatoes in the garden and I am finally seeing tiny green beans growing from the flowers. It's interesting that I am picking Yellow Squash but not Zucchini yet. It's usually the other way around.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued to add more parts to the P2K covered hopper. It is annoying however, to have to do touch-up painting on those white sprue marks. In case you're wondering, the car is for Continental Grain Co, and has a white body with black undersides and a black end frame and ladders. It's similar to this car from a different manufacturer.
I finally solved a mystery that has been bugging me for well over a year now. I keep finding cows in a certain pasture on the layout knocked over. I initially suspected a mouse, but I had set traps to no avail, and I never saw any mouse droppings. Yesterday I finally saw the culprit. I don't know what it's called, but it looks like a flat lizard. Didn't get a picture because it was gone when I got back with the camera. It is about 4" long plus a 2" tail, and no more than 3/8" high, maybe even less. I looked up lizards, salamanders and skinks on the web, but didn't see anything native to my area. It's the same thing as the one that I had between the window and screen that I posted about last month. This one is smaller, so it's not the same one. The other one has moved to the back porch and I occasionally see it when I step out to pee after dusk.
Kusojiji - I meant to also comment regarding the obsolete solar panel and battery waste hasn't been addressed here either. Obsolete wind turbines are next!
Mike - I just never read the fine print in the ScaleTrains E-mails.
Pool water here is 83°. It's time to put up the shade umbrellas, since the tornado wiped out some of the trees that shaded it in the afternoon.
Tom O - I have done a name search of me on the Internet before. A lot is from when my kids used to post to "My Space" back in the 90's, despite me telling them that they shouldn't be posting private information. But the biggest offender in my case is governmental agencies. It's information that has always been public, but in the old days, you had to go to a county or state office and request it. Now it's all posted.
Hughie - Thanks.
Everybody have a great Thursday.
