I read the question and would think of locations in Northwest US where we have tracks following mountain streams and rivers, often we see the steep inclines down to the water. Cannot think of a specific spot, someone else will
i was now googling for tunnels in Canada. there are not much. wow.
so now i will checck out the US tunnels. will have a look in the northwest.

Theres Feather River Canyon. Located in California.

Keddie Wye, which I believe is part of the Feather River Canyon Sub. BNSF+UP joint line. This would check most of the boxes.

Keddie Wye was what came 1st to my mind. Great pictures Mike.

Without doing a lot of research for pictures the tunnel in East Dubuque, Il. has always fascinated me. A big bridge across the mighty Mississippi River with a crossing right at the tunnel entrance. Lots of possibilities

In the second picture you can see the tracks along the bluff. You see part of the bridge crossing the river.

On the west side of the river is the city of Dubuque, Iowa. A fascinating railroad and river town. The blufffs on both sides of the river rise a good 100 to 200’. On the Dubuque side the CN has a small but still action packed yard

A friend built a 2x4 n scale layout loosely based on that area. He had a figure 8 over and under with two short passing sidings and a tunnel. Obviously he had to use 9 3/4" radius curves and short Peco turnouts. Tall cars were not allowed, there wasn't enough vertical clearance between levels.

Good morning folks, 75F here right now, heading to 84 and sunny, A couple of Dr's appointments this afternoon but gonna try to get some couplers on some used cars [swapping horn-hooks for knuckles]. Might try to finish the roof on my Rico Station kit.
And yes, I am a Boomer who has no qualms about self defense.

Been busy outside enjoying the nice weather. Pruning trees & shrubs, tending 20+ Roses and the vegetable plot.

Second crop of lettuces & spinach are up, first crop is almost done. Picking snow peas, Asparagus is slowing down, beets and carrots almost ready to harvest, English peas are flowering, and harvesting a 10" bowl of strawberries like this every other day. Sweet potatoes appear to be doing well.

Good day to all.............

Boris said : Amazing how grass that doesn't grow in bare spots in the lawn, will grow in cracks between the Patio blocks.
I find it amazing how hair no longer grows on the spot on my head but has no problem growing in my ears and nose.

Yesterday I said : I'll give the decoder project I'm involved with a bit more attention in about another hour. I have reviewed the ESU adapter board documentation and have noted some changes that I may have overlooked. Wish me luck as I am about ready to put this project on the back burner maybe never to be revisited.
After downloading and reading the ESU, BLI adapter board documentation I found where I made a few mistakes in my decoder programming. I was trying to program the decoder as a 21 pin decoder WITHOUT the adapter board. There are "special" steps that must be followed when using the adapter board and after making some changes , all is working as it should, almost. I have to add some info in the functions category to make lighting work perfectly and I need to dim the loco headlight/tender light as they are a bit too bright as is. I hope to finally wrap up this project later this evening. I am glad this project worked out well. And thanks to some folks on the ESU Lok Sound forum.

Some clean-up work in the house today and maybe a trip to the trash dumpster and grocery store in town.

And isn't the meat in bologna the same that is in a hot dog, only round and flat as opposed to rolled in a tube shape? As a kid I was one of those who would eat a hot dog ( those red ones ) right out of the pack as a snack, cold. Before the days of microwaves we used to boil hotdogs to eat on a bun.

In my little town, the Dollar General Store was changed to a DG Market, remodeled a bit and now sells some packaged meat items and produce. I don't see why they did this as the local grocery store is only a few blocks up the road and has more produce and more meat items at lower prices. I can only guess a lot of food stuff gets thrown away or goes home with employees now at the DG. When the DG remodeled, they put in 2 self check out stands. I used the self check out a couple of times when I only had 2 or 3 items to purchase and there was a slow moving person with 15 or more items in their basket at the manned check out counter. However, just last week about 5 people were lined up at the manned check out register as DG has now shut down the self check out stations. One woman was griping about the self check out stations were closed as she was at the end of a long line with only 2 items to purchase. You can't please ALL the people ALL the time.

Born in the year of 19 and 48, I guess I'm of the generation called "OLD".

Gotta get busy. The oil change projects I planned yesterday got put off until today.

Take care everyone....John

thnx @migalyto and @TLOC for the ideas and pictures. will check those areas and lines out. both are looking very interesting. i just have to see how one of those ideas could fit in a viable box where the trains disapear on both sides into the shadowstation. but maybe i will find a way.

update.
i was scrolling trough feather river canyon and i found a interesting part.

IMG_0206.jpeg

here you can see a view point to the right of the track. also a old railroad bridge?
the track comes out of the tunnel and follows the river with some nice curved track, also goes trough two small „tunnels“ where the second one than would be maybe the tunnel that goes back into the shadow station.

IMG_0207.jpeg

also i found another interesting tunnel exit, maybe i could shrink the diorama and put this in place in between.

will for shure look again but so far i have to say those points of interest are looking great.
also nice to have a street further to the left, with streetview, so i can check the vegetation and surroundings.

thank you

Good morning. It is currently 19 degrees C and 91% humidity in the shed. The guessors show cloudy to sunny in all 3 sites and I can confirm that they are correct about it being cloudy right now. If the sun does pop out, it'll be steamy since it just rained about 530 am. We're looking at 25 C so it'll be warm and the wife had just bought some cold weather food.

Finished a remotoring of a Dapol N gauge Pannier tank last night. These are renown for not running very well, problem being blamed on the bearing pick ups. Mine ran fine for a while and when it started stuttering, gave it a quick blow out with the WD40 contact cleaner and all was well again. The only problem with this one was that it was sounding like the gears were eating each other for lunch. I managed to pull it apart and saw the milkshake on the worm gear. Applied power to the motor and found that it was out of balance. I saw a thread on RMWeb on the motor replacement so gave it a try. Once I was able to pull the motor out of the body, I took some measurements and printed out a motor mount for a Graham Farish class 08 coreless motor. Everything fit fine and the gears meshed nicely. Just had to do some minor body clearancing on the sides for the motor to fit in.

Runs very nicely now at low voltage. Added some fishing weight people in the cab and the weight came out to be the same as before the mod.
