Good morning all!

A fellow Gen X here: Id like to think I have a plan, seems to have worked out thus far!

Currently a balmy 72F heading up to 84F. They took our 90 degree day away from us. Not sure I like it that hot, but I need some warmth for my pool water. Temperature rose to 70F with yesterdays warmth. Doesn't look like any rain till late tonight, early tomorrow morning. Temps will then only get in the low 70s.

Laundry day, vacuuming, and some other light chores on the agenda today. Wife left for the office this morning and didn't leave any other tasks for me.

Have a safe day everyone!

Aren’t hotdogs “cooked” already? I’m pretty sure hotdogs and bologna and stuff is not raw.
Yes, they are but hotdog manufacturers recommend heating them to 165 degrees if they contain poultry. If not 160 degrees.

The couple who raised me often had this exchange "He is going to get worms" the man would reply "Don't worry Irene, they are fully cooked" As I ran back outside with a hotdog in each hand.

I've eaten uncooked hotdogs for most of my life. Other kids grabbed cookies or the like for a snack. I liked uncooked hotdogs.

I'm too old and fragile to push my luck any further, according to my wife. Thirty seconds in the microwave keeps my wife happy.

Happy wife, happy life. 😁

Bologna, another of my favorites, is fully cooked and cured. Making it safe to eat if kept refrigerated. Unless it gets old, then I fry it!

Most hotdogs are also fully cooked and cured, go figure. I guess the lawyers got involved.

Recently I have been seeing increasingly more uncured hotdogs. I don't know much about them, but they are good too!

Time for bed. 10pm here on Tuesday.

I slipped and fell when I missed that there were two shallow steps down to the street (the level 8 was at, the intermediate step, and the sidewalk level).

I was distracted by some people and kept walking and fell off the step and skinned my shin pretty nicely. Nice road rash. A little roughed up on my other elbow. And a single scratch that drew blood on my opposite calf (road rash was left leg, scratch was right). Wife freaked out and was trying to wipe it up. I told her to leave it alone so it would coagulate and stop bleeding (that kind of surface bleeding you get mostly). Finally she did and walked around all day with this big bloody road rash on my shin. Now back in Kobe they’re telling me to shower and clean it and they have some spray stuff for it.

The problem with that plan is it will start bleeding again. This is what happens when your wife and sister in law are nurses and brother in law is a doctor.

I may get to go to Osaka tomorrow and go look at model train stuff. We’ll see. I also want to hit a train store here in Kobe.

I notice no on in the US on this thread was complaining about Buc-ees. :p

Chad... did you ever consider that the reason there are so mannnnnny zombies is because you only take care of them in Japan? The zombified attention spans of our younger employees might get better if you eradicate the zombies from your phone. Play it everywhere and see if that helps. :p

Well, Howdy there internet peeps and those attacking plants virtually or in person.

It's troy again.

Last evenings discussion reminded me of this missive that's been making the rounds on social media:

I'm at that cusp between GenX and Boomers. Born in 64 so I should count as a boomer, but I'm the oldest of three siblings, They're Gen X, and my parents were boomers.

Not sure that you'd want to hide behind me in the zombie apocalypse, but I fit the above description pretty well.

It's grocery day. And I love the self-checkout. I don't have to talk to anyone unless the scanner has issues. I just say thanks to person watching as I wheel my cart out AFTER the light on the station goes green.

Think I'll get a donut while I'm out, too. GenXers like donuts.
Troy,

I just read yesterday there is a new designation for those born between 1954 and 1964. Since we missed fighting VietNam but witnessed the protests, and for some other reasons, we are the Jones generation. The Joneses? something like that.

I clearly remember the Savings and Loan scandals and bailouts, as well as the Time Magazine photo of the naked girl running down the street in pure terror, we were screwed up in a different way. Gas doubling in price over the weekend.

One of my big quandaries is how they crucified NIxon (and still do) when his shortcomings (which he confessed and atoned for) fell far short of the blatant and unabashed pandering and misinformation, downright lying with no consequences, we see out of politics today.

No worries, we have this to fall back on -- What, Me Worry? We also have the Hokey Pokey -- And That's what its all about

Now that my head is screwed on straight, we have some light rain and 52 degrees, supposed to clear up later this morning.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Rub some dirt on it, wrap it in a sweaty bandana, take a shot of whiskey, and get back on the horse. Wait... what... Don't do that, I watch too many western movies.

Listen to your wife, you are in good hands. Watch for swelling and let your wife know if you have any.

I hope you heal up soon.

i would love to modell prototypical, the idea is a scene, at a "cliff" double mainline with a river at the bottom, maybe a bridge? and tunnel at the front/end of the viewable area. do you know maybe a line where this is happening? Or where i should look at with google maps or earth?
any help is welcome.

Just want to highlight this question of mine :)
Inputs are welcome ;)

Cheers a Milenial :P

I used to do the Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and a warmish 75°. Went up to 92° yesterday, but the clouds will keep it around 85° today. Supposed to rain overnight and get to only 78° tomorrow.

Mixed day yesterday. Cut some limbs into firewood size but haven't stacked anything yet. Worked a bit on vacuuming the pool, picked onions/did general garden cleanup, and kept a watchful eye on the two granddogs. Unable to get the battery operated mower to stay powered on for more than a few seconds, so another purchase that I don't wish to make. I knew that this was liable to happen sooner or later, as the mower took a 100' trip through the landscape during last year's tornado. It was upside down when I found it, and there was evidence that it tumbled over to that position with a part on the ground about halfway from it's starting position.
More of the same today; at least I'm not mowing again, yet! The onions laying on the ground drying, which won't actually be hurt if it rains, will be moved nonetheless under the train shed porch overhang.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I pulled out a project that I recently uncovered, a potential cardstock structure. This was a free download from the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency that I downloaded quite a while ago. This one is Jensen Drug Store. I have some similar structures already on the layout. The theme of this series of 20 or so structures is Abraham Lincoln. Not sure of his connection to Jensen's, but there must be one. Here's the first two pages:

I have a place reserved for it in downtown Gainesville on the layout, so I'll see how it goes. Initially, I'm not thrilled with the difference in the brickwork from front to side; but that might be the way it actually is. I'll see. Maybe if the contrast is too great, I can lighten the picture in the computer and print the front again. These structures are actually pretty nice, but I only use them in the backgrounds.

Gasoline prices - Another reason that gas is so low here, besides being close to refineries, is the state gasoline tax here is among the lowest in the country. Ours is just 20¢/gallon, compared to the highest in Kalifornia at 70¢/gal.
And I thought $2.99 a gallon was bad!
You MD residents get screwed for more than twice that of TX, at 47¢/gal.

Dave - I guess that the smoke from the Canadian fires is like our dust storms from West Texas, except the dust storms only last about 4-6 hours. However they do leave a coating of red dirt on everything.
Todd - Throwing the dogs in the shower only gets them clean. They don't seem to learn what brings that on!
Troy - Looking at the picture of the planting boxes on wheels, made me wonder how the indoor Carrots are doing? I expect the Radishes and Lettuce to be harvested soon.
Terry - Is management aware of the issues that the salespeople are causing? It would seem that after getting the quote for the batteries that they would take notice and do something.
Joe -
Amazing how grass that doesn't grow in bare spots in the lawn, will grow in cracks between the Patio blocks.
I can relate as my best stand of Bermuda grass in in my gravel driveway!

Everyone have a terrific Tuesday.

I was putting some final touches on my cliff walls. I had several pounds of sculptamold left from my N scale layout that I used up initially .
I opened up the box I just bought to finish and noticed the texture was different. This stuff almost reminds me of smooth-it from Woodland
Scenics. Not sure if it will make much difference once painted, ground cover, trees, under growth. Sure looks the same dry in the box, but something with the formula has changed.

The two together.

I'm thinking the old stuff looks much better (natural) but I really don't have a choice at this point. I purchased a 50 pound box.

Thoughts?

I read the question and would think of locations in Northwest US where we have tracks following mountain streams and rivers, often we see the steep inclines down to the water. Cannot think of a specific spot, someone else will
Remember Bob's Politics Rule
I don't know how I got both quotes on there, but I would like to highlight a difference between Politics and Philosophy. We are all human beings, putting all designations behind us.

We can respect a man and be proud of it. And that I do. Nothing to read into that, just a direct statement.

Willie, I've talked to my service manager several times about it, and he's as frustrated as I am. He just submitted a bill to the sales dept for the cost of the batteries, and the 8 hours labor to replace them. The sales manager had a melt down, but the service manager held his ground. That amount of money is my salary for four months after taxes.
