So we visited this music box museum in Otaru. Full of old music box type instruments and organs. They also sold music boxes ¥¥¥¥¥¥ though had some more affordable ones. But across the intersection they had a big hall and store full of music boxes of al sorts.

Here is one for the old rockers in the group.

And one for the more 60s-70s pop boy bands

They eliminated all of the self check-outs in all of these stores about 8 months ago. While they don't admit it publicly, a manager who I know said it was excessive inventory shrinkage at all of the locations.
That makes sense as to why both of ours have been out of order for so long. I would say its been close to that long since they were up and running. Maybe coming from corporate then.

They just built a new DG market out by the interstate a few months ago, I have yet to go in it,

Good morning, Everybody!

I like our Dundalk Dollar General. They always have polite young people working at the registers. It would be even better if they could keep the shelves stocked. They were out of Armour Chicken Hotdogs last time, WTF!

I stopped eating Armour Chicken Hotdogs uncooked since my wife pointed out to me; they have pork in them. I'm not sure how they can call it a chicken hotdog if it has pork in it. Oh well, 30 seconds in the high-power Panasonic microwave and I have my low carb snack.

Have an enjoyable day Everybody!

Aren’t hotdogs “cooked” already? I’m pretty sure hotdogs and bologna and stuff is not raw.

I’m sitting at New Chitose Airport (Sapporo). Our flight on Skymark airlines leaves in about 90 minutes. Skymark says your luggage should be checked no later than 20 minutes before the scheduled departure and you should clear security no later than 15 minutes before scheduled departure on their website.

We flew them from Kobe to Tokyo and Tokyo (Haneda) to Sapporo and both times there was basically no line to check in with the self serve terminal and to leave your bags and basically no line for security. At Haneda they had their own security line. We came early because the fam wants to eat something (it’s 4:30 pm and we aren’t scheduled to arrive at Kobe until 7:50pm). So I’m sitting at a table in a food court area watching the bags while the wife and daughter are scouting out what there is to eat. There are also some restaurants on the next level up the wife claims (according to her sister) so we may have to decamp and move upstairs.

For lunch I had a small black sesame soft cream ice cream cup (black sesame ice cream is rather good though this was mild) and then a little while later I had a cone of melon flavored gelato. (See below). The way they served the gelato in the cone was interesting. The gelato came pre packaged in cup “cartridges” and they had this single serve press. You slipped the “cartridge” of gelato into the press and then pulled the handle all the way down. It looked like it took some strength.

The melon ice cream is a cantaloupe type melon and Hokkaido is famous for their melon farms. (In 2019 we went to this place called Furano where there was a large melon farm and a large lavender / other flowers farm (one huge complex) and you could buy both cantaloupe and honey dew type melons that are to die for and also all sorts of melon flavored things like ice cream and also lavender ice cream and other food items plus all sorts of trinkets). The melon ice cream is really good. I may try and find some in the air port. Except for the gargantuan 12 layer one I had yesterday, most places that sell soft serve don’t sell very large ones so I don’t feel bad eating more than one on vacation 🤪. The melon gelato was good but different than melon ice cream

Anyway, the flight from Sapporo to Kobe is listed as 1 hour 55 minutes. I have my phone and “Plants vs Zombies II”. That’s the game I play when in Japan and sitting on trains etc. I only play it in Japan.

So the verdict is we went upstairs a level as they had a nicer food court and real restaurants. I chose a place called “Matsuo Jingiskan”. That’s “Ghengis Khan” in Japanese. It’s a lamb/muutton place. I got the medium lamb bbq bowl. Comes with miso soup as well.

The wife and daughter are getting ramen at another place.

It’s one of those with place after place like a mall food court.

good morning all

- cloudy weather but Airport ZRH up and running
- network also working no hickups
- i need another coffee

question for my American/Canadian Forum Friends here.
Iam looking into building a Exhibition Layout.

i would love to modell prototypical, the idea is a scene, at a "cliff" double mainline with a river at the bottom, maybe a bridge? and tunnel at the front/end of the viewable area. do you know maybe a line where this is happening? Or where i should look at with google maps or earth?
any help is welcome.

cheers
Marco

Ah, ok. Wanted to make sure. No arrests?
Both times that I saw what I think that I saw, they were long gone before I could even get the attention of a store employee. They have video if they wanted to press charges...if they could even identify the culprit. In one case recently, Covid masks were on the shoplifter. One time I watched as they seemed to scan at the self check-out and just left without paying. Easy enough for dishonest people.

I notice no on in the US on this thread was complaining about Buc-ees. :p

Chad... did you ever consider that the reason there are so mannnnnny zombies is because you only take care of them in Japan? The zombified attention spans of our younger employees might get better if you eradicate the zombies from your phone. Play it everywhere and see if that helps. :p

Well, Howdy there internet peeps and those attacking plants virtually or in person.

It's troy again.

Last evenings discussion reminded me of this missive that's been making the rounds on social media:

I'm at that cusp between GenX and Boomers. Born in 64 so I should count as a boomer, but I'm the oldest of three siblings, They're Gen X, and my parents were boomers.

Not sure that you'd want to hide behind me in the zombie apocalypse, but I fit the above description pretty well.

It's grocery day. And I love the self-checkout. I don't have to talk to anyone unless the scanner has issues. I just say thanks to person watching as I wheel my cart out AFTER the light on the station goes green.

Think I'll get a donut while I'm out, too. GenXers like donuts.

That's pretty sad. I guess if they don't care then their loss, I guess. They have to be feeling the loss of revenue and going deeper down the toilet.

And I have to apologize for my earlier comments. Mind is not very clear today for some reason, so kinda slow to get it :) I haven't lived in the states for a while so really don't have any point of reference.

Morning all,

67° and stormy this morning. Not expected to get any warmer today. Storms expected throughout the day and into the overnight. I had 0.6" of rain overnight as of 5:00a this morning.

Karl: More support for any version of the S-series than the first Gen Colorado\Canyon twins. 😢

when does gen x start and end?
i think iam also X iam 1981? or am i Y?

-.-

Gen X is usually considered to be between 1965 to either 1979 or 1980. Born in 1981, your considered a Millennial.
