Ran into a snag with my new camera in that it won't connect to my wifi. The router sees it, assigns the IP address and that's the end. The log file shows the activity, but the other pages of the router do not, such as the connected devices list. I dropped the ACL and still nothing. The little icon on the camera shows it as trying to connect. There isn't a lot of info on the interweb except everybody trying to connect to their phone type stuff.

Submitted a question on the Sony support site and they came back with if I was trying to connect to my phone and sent me the link to that software. I'd rather not connect to my phone as I'd have to make another hop to get it to my computer.

I keep some extras in the glove box now.

Don't know how many times I ask for extra ketchup and the hand me 2 or 3 pouches. Annoying as hell!
On the other side of that equation, I toss those ketchup packs in the trash , or I toss them at co-workers.
With me its like a Gibbs rule. Ketchup only goes on burgers, mustard belongs on hot dogs, and chili has no beans. Anything else is borderline heresy.

I agree with two of those three. And "a few" beans in the chili, not loaded with them like so many people and places make it. I prefer horseradish mustard on my hot dogs.

I fell in love with this mustard last year. It's seasonal so I bought 4.

Good early evening at 7:07pm as I start typing.

The 2 yards are cut and it took 2 hours of cutting! The batteries in the new mower are rated for 80 minutes so a 50 minute break was needed to recharge to finish off. Self propelled mode also engages the blades to increase speed to cut through the heavier grass. We are hoping that because the lawns will be on a regular schedule the grass won’t be any near as thick as today.

The newness lawn cutting entrepreneur talked to me about this was wasting time waiting to charge batteries enough to finish. I offered a few suggestions and he said he needed more batteries! Bingo…

Then he went to HomeDeport web page and said, $219 for 1, “That’s crazy”!

Asked if I could help and I said absolutely I will loan him $500 and he can buy 2 batteries and replacement blades! He can pay me back by money or in trade lawn services. We discussed that $500 is a lot of money and it’s equivalent to 2 of his hockey sticks and that he went through 4 sticks this year. He was going to talk to his parents 1st.

Terry wrote out the agreement and emailed it to his parents and him! He’s getting a sub prime rate of 3%. He is aware I am not charging him to use my new mower on the 3 neighbors yards he’ll be doing.

He did a nice job

A few years ago, I went in to HD to see about a second battery for that same mower. They had none in the store, but I met the Ryobi rep doing a promotional gig there. She told me that I'd be better off buying one of their leaf blowers with the same battery and throwing the leaf blower away! Leaf blower listed at $159! I passed at the time. In the end, I was able to retrieve the battery from my "tornado model" that is still perfectly good; although I had to wait a couple more years for it.

Does the camera also have Bluetooth? Can you connect the two via USB?

Have you tried using the IP address directly to connect to the camera from the computer? Is there a menu within the camera where you can manually enter an IP address of your computer?

The camera has bluetooth, but it won't connect to the computer. Computer saw it, tried to connect and nothing. I set the camera up for DHCP and static and neither works. When I have it set up for DHCP, the router does assign the IP to the camera, so it is seeing it and the security (WPA2) is negotiated correctly.

Well howdy again, all of you not at the correspondents dinner last evening. Makes me glad my journalist days are over, even though I'd never rank high enough for that invite.

It's Troy again.

I switched gears from a book I was writing, to a new one. I needed to get out of the Urban Fantasy headspace where the plot dealt with a lot of international affairs.

So, we're doing wereshark mafia shenanigans combined with murder at the Drag Show on the amusement pier. A classic whodunnit with some shifter noir elements. And lots of snark.

I did get 1300+ words worded this morning.

Also, I tried asking Claude if the AI agent side of it could sense when I first wake my laptop in the morning, and shove the writing software to the front of my Macbook's screen.

It said no... but i could write a set of scripts to go in my Mac's background files. I had it write the files, but since I have to open terminal a couple of times, I'm not sure if it's safe for me to install them...

If any of you coders want to have a look see, let me know and I'll send you the files. I have NOT installed them. I do have the .plist, .md, and .sh files sitting on my desktop at the moment.
I can look but it looks safe from the outside -- just need to see the actual contents. The stuff it is doing is normal for setting up stuff to launch on login etc.

The cost of batteries for these electric tools is horrific. I have the Greenworks Pro 80v system and I have a mower, snowblower, wheed whacker, and blower and maybe something I forgot. I had 2 4ah batteries. Unfortunately one gave up the ghost recently.

I’ve had them since 2020 when I got letter from the city about the weeds on our building lot (house lot). They’ve put in a lot of good use. But having only one battery really sucks.

I saw what a new Greenwirks battery cost and it was ridiculous. So I’ve been looking for deals on tool/battery combos to get a new battery. Costco is selling the greenworks pro 80v stuff but their blower/weedwhacker only comes the a 3Ah battery. If it was 4 I might buy it.

I tried some off label Amazon batteries but they wouldn’t run the mower. Couldn’t provide the current or something. The blower worked fine but I ended up returning them.
