Good morning gang!!

Sunny and 65° today, with a high of 78° later. Wrapping stuff up at work, playing hookey tomorrow, I need a 3 day weekend every now and then.

I hope to get the lift bridge wiring done and the scenic work done on it this weekend, then next week I can get the article together for RMC. I've only been working on this almost a year, but life got in the way. Once that is complete I can extend the track and bus another 15 ft before lift bridge #2 gets track and wiring. The second one should go much faster now that I have the bugs worked out.

It's sad to see the Weathering Rolling Stock thread is closed. I see many other threads are started around the same subject. Would've been nice to keep all that info in one place.
Thank you Tom, it was fun while it lasted. But the thread isn’t going away it’s just locked. It became very obvious that the regulars kept coming back and I was and am still grateful for that. I mentioned before I was just trying to get folks to try weathering and create their own way but I was called a know it all. That was enough plus the other reasons I have written about previously. I will visit and contribute as I have to your Continuous Weathering thread when I can…

Good morning! 68°F at 0900. Slept pretty good last night except for my 0400 turbo-Diesel wake up call. Fell right back asleep though, but didn't rise until 0700. Giving some serious thought to moving my bedroom across the hall to the other bedroom, but I'm undecided. Electrical outlets are non-existent in that room and I would have to tap into a circuit right outside of the room to run outlets.

Going to spend some time outside in my new chair this afternoon with a nice bottle of Schmidt und Söhne Riesling. The only thing I hate about drinking wine outside is that it warms up so fast. This is a really good Riesling, even with the screw cap. It has won several awards in the past.

Supposed to hit 84°F today before possible rain tomorrow and cooler temps. Not too cool, but in the lower 70s.

Have a great day! Servus!

Good Morning All. Cloudy still and 68°, maybe going up to 79° later today. 80's and 90's for the next few days.

Headed out this morning for the weekly grocery trek, along with a stop at the Vitamin Shop, hardware store and pharmacy. Going to the local Ace Hardware because I can get assistance there, whereas I'm on my own at HD. I need a new aerator for the kitchen sink. Plus I can park within 20' of the door! Hopefully this light breeze this morning dries things up after Tuesday's rain so I can get back to mowing and weedeating.

Uneventful day here yesterday that culminated with burgers on the grill for supper

Out in the train shed yesterday, it was fencing day. I installed this barbed-wire fence on the backside of the main line through the latest project section. It's from Woodland Scenics and is a lot easier than my old method of barbed-wire fences.

Putting everything back in place gets me this.

I also made a little progress over on the RH side with driveways and ground cover.View attachment 263976
Did some other stuff that I don't remember.

Terry - My eye doc was just the opposite, he told me that I didn't need to do the cataract surgery in 2017. By 2023, he decided that it was finally time and what a difference it made. The cloudiness in the corners of my eyes disappeared and everything became much brighter and more vivid than before. As Todd posted, it's an easy surgery, but it may require some follow-ups.
I am guessing that there were no royalties for being the subject of the safety meeting.
Tom O - What kind of new mower are you getting? I need to get one right now, as my 2-year old electric one won't start up any more. Both batteries are fully charged. No one around here works on them. Supposedly costs less to just buy a new one. I am thinking of going back to a gas-powered one with electric start.
Hughie - "Ponding on roadways" seems to be the new buzzword with TXDOT. I saw my first sign for that earlier this week. The ponding was there all right, situated between two sewers on a brand new just completed highway segment near me. Duh! Seems like the sewers could have had better placement.
Alan -

I have to agree with that, although some of the ones from 67-68 were especially good at the time. "Dear Mr. Fantasy" anyone???

Everybody have a great Thursday. Be safe.
Willie

Nothing fancy, something the grandson can easily handle. My gas one has a bent shaft and shakes like crazy and 11 years old. Put it on the curb yesterday and it was gone when I looked an hour later. Wish I could put the garage refrigerator out there! $130 for the recycler to come get it!

FedEx delivers today between 10 and 2, free delivery!

I shoot with a Digital Rebel now but I still have my old film cameras. I can't bear to part with them. A Canon AE-1 and a Canon A-1. At the end of my film days I used the A-1 mostly, on aperture priority when shooting models. That's the thing about cell phone cameras. Great for snapshots, but very limited depth of field.

I can't bear to part with my A-1 either. I never shoot with it because film developing is such a PITA. The last roll I turned in was lost never to be seen again. I just use the Nikon Zfc now. I can still use my Canon lenses though with an adapter I have. No auto functions, but they work.

I never had KP in the Air Force.
I never did in the Army either. During basic and AIT the mess hall i believe were mainly civilian contactors for the most part.

My reserve unit was in Peroia so it was large in size. There were always plenty of new recruits to take on that role. Plus I learned
very early on how to play "ghost" and not be seen lounging around an area too long.

Good morning Crew.

Spoke again this morning to the brother. The headaches are not going away after Monday’s Artial Flutter correction procedure. Doc told him yesterday they will. I told him to try Ibuprofen as Tylenol doesn’t help my headaches.

The mower is set to arrive between 10 and 2 by FedEx from a HomeDeport warehouse in Georgia. Terry keeps getting notices it’s out for delivery. Our normal FedEx arrives usually after 6pm. We shall see.

I’ll setup the mower and hopefully the batteries are charged enough to use. Another 80f + degree day here in So. Central Wisconsin.

I got another offer from the real estate company. I replied this morning upping my minimum price I have set in my mind because they are nickel and diming me. Told them I will accept a legitimate offer but stop lowballing. They have until May 6th as on the 7th the earth moving begins. If they come through the property to the south of mine is for sale at a reasonable price and will not need as much earth work! But it’s in a different township that is not as open to housing development.

Terry had an emergency yesterday after 6:30pm. Her coffee pot died. Some combo thing with fancy settings gave up the ghost and she needed her evening cup and of course her pot of coffee in the morning. Off to Kohl’s we went. 1/3 off digital coupon and she also had $60+ in Kohl cash. Got a nice unit that does coffee without needing to be a computer whiz…

Because we were out and she hadn’t eaten dinner she had 3 choices to eat. Jason’s Deli, Panera or Portillo. I dislike Portillo’s but she wanted their Chocolate Cake and I had a Chicago dog and we ate inside. The dog at least was warm.

Enjoy the day

Portillo's has really gone downhill over the last few years. The one in Rockford is still ok, but we stopped in DeKalb (Sycamore) a couple of weeks back and it was terrible. Not sure what has happened to them, but remember when they were the place to go?

Stick the old fridge out front, and list a Curb Alert on Craigslist and FB Marketplace.

Good morning folks, 72 here and sunny.
Louis Great News! Recover quickly.
And I LOVE the ACME trailer, I truly hope it will be a real movie. I am adding an ACME Factory on my TTrak corner module. Perfect timing. No RR news here right now. The Battletech project has eaten up hobby time lately. Assembly line painting for demo games and a convention in Texas come September.
Thank you for your weathering thread, I enjoyed and learned from it.
I too, still have my old 35MM SLR, a Minolta that I need to dig out and finish up a roll of film still in it. I have no idea what the first half has on it.
Anyway, you all have a a great day.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those who pee straight

It's Troy again

Got up at 3am this morning for a tinkle run.... then couldn't get back to sleep. So a nap is next on the schedule.

Been working on getting the utility room in the basement cleared and reconfigured. We now have an overflow pantry storage area. Seriously, our kitchen is a galley style, with very little food storage. We've got shelves crammed into the two pantry cabinets, and it's so darn hard to keep them organized. This is a blessing despite taking a total Model Railroad redesign to get motivated into working on it. Don't worry, they're connected even if they don't seem like it.

I need to make -maybe - one more run to the community dumpster. But that can wait until next week.

Moved photo tripods and light stands, and some old cheap flash units and hot lights out to the garage storage. That cleared up a bunch of shelf storage in the utility room.

In other news, looks like tomorrow is a cook inside day. Wife and I have been talking about adding Rice and Beans more into our repertoire of recipes. And I found Rick Bayless's channel on the Tubez of U. Got some Charro Beans and Arroz Rojo to cook up.

Wife admitted she's been thinking about adding an Instant pot to our gadget line-up... I pointed out that with the xtra shelving downstairs, we can move some of the least used gadgets down into deeper storage. That would give us room to store the Instant Pot in the kitchen.

Since there is only two of us, this little Mini-pot came home with me today...

Since it's Instant and Pot, I'm thinking of naming this Mini-Snoop Dog. Especially after the real Snoop did a cooking show with Martha Stewart!

It will be steaks and sweet taters tonight. Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates this time!

So has Five Guys. The fries are still good but we went in there for a burger and it just wasn’t what it used to be. Lower quality meat, smaller patty, didn’t taste like much at all, but that price sure lasted. A shame.

No, I think it was actually a Toro video. I've never watched anything by James Condon, but if you ever want to be entertained there's a channel called "Taryl Fixes All" that's funny and actually pretty informative. They guy dresses up like a redneck complete with a set of horrible false teeth and you get a lesson and a comedy skit all in one. 😆 He's actually pretty good underneath the camp.
Those are his real teeth. He has a brother with similar dental features. It comes from a family gene.
He is a talented guy in regards to small engine repair. He has done some videos about gas additives/preservative and I found them to be very informative and his testing methods were fair for all products.
