Before you get into 40K, please be aware that their business model is to make you entire army obsolete every three to four years, so you have to buy hundreds of dollars of new miniatures for each army you have. That is in addition to the four to five new codexes every year. They deliberately make obsolete or unplayable many expensive units every time they bring a new codex out for each army. On the positive side, they have a great rule system and their minis are gorgeous, but they are so expensive that unless you can spend literally thousands of dollars a year, you cannot play anything else. I got fed up with them several years ago just because of their business model.
Enjoy Bolt Action for a while and sit in on several other games to try out different ones.
Ah ok good to know

Morning All! 52 and the sun is actually out here in Milwaukee. Knock me down with a feather! Lots to do today. I need to cut the grass between rainstorms (its gonna rain again tonight! 🤬), today is lunch out with the wife day. We swap between a fish fry, and Solly's Grill which has the best butter burger and fried cheese curds in Milwaukee. Solly's today! There are a couple of other errands in the mix as well so it's unlikely I'll get to play trains today.

Willie, I don't do it much anymore either. We dumped the land line a few months back, and my spam calls dropped by like 97%. I still get a few on the cell, but I've stopped answering numbers I don't recognize.

Have a good day y'all!

Sent a message to my barber. She's having an MRI and has already been out for the past month, so no haircut today. Says she'll be in the shop on Tuesday. I'll believe that when I see the barber pole rotating. I hate needing a haircut. Any second I think my Colonel is going to come up behind me and say "Hey Sgt Carter, when are you going to get your ears lowered to regulation?"

I guess I'll go by the package store and pick up some Bitburger, Paulaner, and Hofbräu and sit in the backyard and enjoy the afternoon. I love sitting out there right after I've cut the grass.

Good morning.

Did the road trip to Racine yesterday and did lunch with 3 of Terry’s siblings. That was intense at 1st but it was ok in the end. #4 we visited at home as he has stage 4 lung cancer. He’s in denial and doesn’t believe he has lung cancer. I met him when Terry and I started dating in college. He was a heavy smoker then and Everytime I saw him since he would be puffing on a smoke and usually a beer in hand. They put him on oxygen last week. He stopped smoking last week! Doesn’t want to blow himself up. He did apologize again for his part of putting Terry through hell over stupid legal financials that their dad wrote out when he gifted them his estate!

Alan, I waved when we went by the Zoo Interchange but I guess I should have waited to the Marquette interchange based on the restaurant location. I didn’t realize Solly’s Grille was still around. The first time I heard of a butter burger was there in the 1980’s. We usually eat now in the Public Market in the 3rd ward (St Paul’s Fish company) but we both love a good burger. We are heading to Milwaukee in a couple weeks so we might switch it up.

Todd, thank you. The comments are appreciated

Willie and others! I am glad so many found the continuous weathering thread useful. Honestly I thought by having Terry lock it no one would really notice. Sorry as I should have explained the reasoning behind it in the thread and then have Terry lock it

I’m in the passenger seat as Miss Speedy is in a hurry to get home. We stayed at her friend’s place last night. Lots and lots of water in the fields, rivers and creeks along I94 between Racine and Madison. A work session today was cancelled as the bridge over a creek is closed so his place is cutoff. There is another work session but in a different place tomorrow. As far as I know we can get to his place.

Heavy rains again are forecast starting around 5pm today and lasting into Saturday, its Springtime in Wisconsin. Why people get shocked by damaging weather is beyond me. These types of Springtime storms are part of normal patterns. Yes, intensity and frequency have changed but we’ve always experienced them. It’s too bad it can’t help the drought as the run off is too quick. We need soakings not flashing!

Be well and enjoy the day

Morning all,

Today the weather guys are saying tornadoes and huge hail possible starting just before school lets out. We'll see.
I did get the yard mowed yesterday after I got home. I found something had dug out the landscaping and sand from under the front step. I filled it back as best I could. 15 minutes later there was what looked like cat tracks. Not sure what dug the hole, or if maybe the semi-feral cats dug after something smaller.

Willie: Break room is 12'X20' was was deemed too small for the number of employees at City Hall. The large rooms they're making into office space are the 100 person rooms. They were very underutilized and with the growth of the city, we need the office space more.

Well howdy there internet people, and those not in the Epstein files
and to Patton Oswalt, who is in them, for a very funny reason... go watch him on Colbert's Late Show last night for the reason.

It's Troy again. And to the best of my knowledge I don't have any connection to the former Epstein, not even one like Patton Oswalt's

Connected with Pete the electrician today. He's coming out Tuesday morning to take a look at the panel and get me a quote.

It's laundry day. Last load is in the washer.

Did the main blanket on the bed today, and washed the cat fur out of it. Cat will be grumpy that he has to reload it again.

It's also clean and store the humidifiers day. Got them bleached out, dried in the sun, and put away. But in taking them out, I didn't realize one still had water in the bottom and sloshed it on my shoe, my pants, and the main dirt catching rug in the entryway/hallway.

Fortunately, I've watched a bunch of rug cleaning videos on the Tubez of U:

Wife says we're going for our four food groups tonight:
Pepperoni, Sausage, Cheese, and Tomato Sauce.

Also, got my walk in and listened to Jason from Rapido talk with Ray Arnott on the ATL podcast. He covers the State of the Industry re: tariffs and cost of doing business, how Rapido schedules their production, what goes into a run of product. Very enlightening and worth listening to.

I do know that 10th ed is ending and 11th comes out soon im still financially recovering from bolt action so

I'm glad I never really got into miniatures gaming. I did do Star Fleet Battles, but never outside our group of friends. I stay with the cardboard counter type games.

I did buy a bunch of GHQ micro armor (WW2) a few years ago. I have a book called Operation Warboard, a simple set of rules for H0 / 1:72 scale tabletop miniatures gaming. I got it at the library when I was a younger teen ager and eventually got my own copy when the library stopped letting me renew it. I bought a updated copy from Amazon a few years ago since I couldn't find mine. I had a bunch of ROCO 1:87 and other manufacturers 1:76 and 1:72 models and figures and played this all the time in those teen age years. My thought with the GHQ armor is to adapt the rules to the smaller scale (1:285).

Good Morning All!

@TLOC Funny how stuff happens. You ran your weathering thread for ... what ... 2 years? I completely understand why you decided to give it a rest. In my humble opinion, you touched on pretty much all aspects of 'get-r-done' for the novice and possibly others. I never thought that you presented a 'my way or the high way' attitude. I for one am glad that you just didn't delete the thread. There is a ton of good information in it. On top of that, you also answer other MRR threads when they have questions. Just from your posting, I will put my toe in the water sooner or later and use what you have presented. Sure, as you say 'you may have to modify the way you do things', but that is true with just about anything anybody attempts to do. Get the basic info and bend/shape to your abilities and standards. All-in-all you did a damn good job.

Off to the Spo VA in about 1/2 hour for medical - bright light eye check at 0730 and new hearing aid at 1100. Suspect we will get into the mess hall for breakfast after the eye opener. Should be able to see without shades by then. CostCo, HD, the butcher are also in line.

You know what cows like to read? Cattle-logs

And Cats, when they go boating use (remember, they don't like water)...Catamarans. <<< Courtesy of Steve Martin's SNL monologue. What a Catastrophe that was.

All that said, I will still--always--have a thing for Julie Newmar until I draw my last breath. Lee Meriwether was pretty good too. Rowrrr!

Same. Avalon Hill cardboard squares, about 1/2" x 1/2." On hex-board maps. Battle of the Bulge, Luftwaffe, 1776. I tended to favor strategics over tacticals like Tobruk I guess.

Although the NBA stat card games were also good. I shudder to think how much a Nikola Jokic card would be worth if AH still existed today. About the price of a Ty Cobb? There weren't many Avalon Hill NBA games out there either, and they didn't come with bubble gum.

Avalon Hill NFL stat card games? Not so much. Cincinnati Bengals punt returner...James Brooks? In the AH game he fumbled the catch about one time in three, although not all that far off the reality. And it was about 70-30 (favoring the kicking team) as to the recovery.

And almost any pass thrown to Chargers tight end Kellen Winslow gained you about eight yards, with rarely an incomplete pass.

I bought a lot of white metal tanks as a kid. 1:160...1:200. Something like that. Used to push them around the sandbox making engine noises (I can probably still do a pretty decent EMD run one to run eight...and traction motor braking too (run four and up), come to think of it, at least inside my own head.) 😁
