The MTH 4-12-2 is articulated. The workman is looking at the wrong train, you've got a derailment on the 4-12-2! Speaking of derailments, how on Earth is that thing supposed to navigate corners?! The pic is a bit blurry but it looks like all the drivers have flanges to me...
i will take a better pic later so u can cWhere is the 4-12-2 articulated? I can't see how you could get any meaningful level of articulation happening with the siderods there...
Where is the 4-12-2 articulated
now thats sweeeeeeeeeeet rite thereThe MTH 4-12-2 is articulated into 2 x 6 wheel sets with the front set swinging from a pivot at the front of the second set.
Both sets are driven separately and the coupling rods are slotted to allow for movement.
The articulation can be locked with a half-moon plate which can be fitted into a curved slot which limits movement.
Here is a photo of my MTH 4-12-2 along with it's larger sister, a brass "0" scale version which is not articulated.

Both have operating Gresley conjugated gear for the middle cylinder and centre crank.
