OK First Question Out of the Gate

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

The best piece of advice I can give is to not be afraid to redo something if it doesn't look right. For your first model, expect it not to look perfect on the first try. Putting it together, thinking it's not quite right, and then redoing parts of it is kind of all part of the fun. Tinker with it until it's perfect. (Which it will never be in your eyes, even if everyone else thinks it's awesome looking.)

Remember, mountains can be easily repainted with different shades. More contrast can be added with diluted paints. Etc etc etc until it looks right to you. Track takes time to get right so there are no derailment spots.

If you are trying to do this on a budget, STAY OUT OF THE TRAIN STORE!!!!! Darn places practically suck the money right out of your wallet....and make you love that it's happening!
