Looks great LASM! I really like the truck on the flatcar and your locomotive looks and sounds new. Do you know when it was originally made?

Louis--I am not sure, maybe someone else on here knows, it is a Life Like 2000 DC GP - 18, Northern Pacific markings # 328. I suspect there are a few years when they are available.

I got it on ebay for $30 and I really like it, my new favorite loco.

Erik--I started out doing a Northern Minnesota but it looks a lot like out west, now that it is getting completed. I am not going to change it because I like the way it looks. The logging operation and sawmill setup is typical of the smaller non corporate operations running from the 20's and well into the 60's, although the steam would have been converted to Diesel later on.

I am trying to do prototypical operations and have believable supporting structures, but the setting is turning out purely fictitious.

Thanks for viewing!! lasm

Any ideas out there for a boarding house sign appropriate for 1930? I am rebuilding this Banta Model Works structure, the shingles were separating and a couple windows fell out; I want to make it into a boarding house for the Sawmill area:

I put these together on Paint:

Wonder if someone has a better idea? I checked google images and couldn't find anything that would work.

Thanks, lasm

I think your signs are fine for 30's boarding house. Maybe the boarding house also has a small store downstairs or a poolhall.

Lasm congratulations. Impressive progress, i really liked the trees and the videos, thanks for posting and keep up the great work!

Thanks, guys, for the comments on the signs. Wonder what your thoughts on this area? Thinking about putting a lake in the flat area below the grade (left) in that flat plywood area between the controller and layout:

Gradually working my way around, lots of ballast work to do in this area.

Thanks for your input, lasm

Thanks for the comments, Chet you are right about the scenery really making it.

Johne--The stream idea is a good one but I don't feel like digging through the plaster and foam. I have a freight building that I think I will have to put there, you have given me something to think about, though.
