Ok onward, first off a disclaimer, I am totally winging this.
First thing I had to do was add a place to the roadbed for the plaster cloth to attach to so I attached some scrap 1x4 etc
Next thing seeing as the rivers edge will sit back some from the rail trestle I removed a section of the benchwork. I may be able to use the section for the base of the waterfall and gorge which should be around 20 inches or so below. That should be interesting.
Benchwork with railbed now overhanging.
River in place and cleaned up
Had to run out to get somemore tape for taping the track up.Added wood on the underside of dioramma so I would have a place for plaster cloth to attach to.
Foamboard now mounted around dioramma.Once I figure out how I'm going to deal with the other end I can start with the plastercloth, will need to get a rail to the structure.
Lynn, excellent photos, thank you very much for posting them. The texture of your scenery (ie the general flavor they put out) is VERY realistic! Congratulations!
Thanks guys. Just finishing my 2 12 hour day shifts and then 2 nites and off for 4 and will be able to get back at it but for now I'm trying to figure out the benchwork for the trestle area, I want a waterfall running of the river and dropping about twenty inches to a pool of water , the trestle will be 3 feet across and a max depth of 18 inch bents and this needs to be done on the end of the layout where I removed the part of the bench work. Anyone got some ideas? lol
Where are your support legs? Can you run new L-girders or joists between support legs at 18 inches lower level? That would give you a base for the trestle bents at the bottom.

Give me 15 minutes and I'll get some pics uploaded of there area we're dealing with, may help you get a better idea of the working area.
Thanks much appreciated
Ok I pulled the front board off and I'm thinking this is what your thinking as a starting point. I put the rag there to try to imaging the backing for the waterfall and get an ideahow far a trestle would be in front of it.
