Lynnb:

Nice looking and interesting track plan. How easy is it to use Xtrackcad? I been finding many of the layout planning software programs are difficult to master and use.

Thanks for sharing.

Greg

Thanks Scott. Tony this is more of the way the bents are suppose to look. Not done but I like the sashes better.

Right on the money Lynn!

Thanks Johne , I ordered up some ME bridge flex track so I'll go as far as I can figuring out the terrain ie the lengths the bents will have to be as they go up a slope.

Hi Greg sorry didn't catch your post, I've been using xtracad for 10 years so for me it would be easier and even sometimes when I haven't done anything with it I have to wing it a bit but it comes back. it just takes some getting use to and I believe there are tutorials available to learn the basics and a lot of it can also be cut and paste. hope this helps.

Still moving forward with making the bents I need for the trestle and today I received the ME code 80 bridge flex track. Anyone have experience with this track setup?

I'm still working on getting the bents spacing figured out, I've got it down to 2- 2.5 inches apart for the most part. May have to make somemore and perhaps shorten a couple of the longest ones. I find this process is like structure positioning, you have to keep repositioning until it feels right.

Thanks Yannis, Steve and Tony.
I think today I will concentrate on getting the bents finished up, still have more timber to add to each of them. And perhaps start on the stringers if I can get the bent spacing figured out. I got 4 days off from work now so let the fun begin.

I'll do a bit of a delayed update just so if anyone is curious how one might go about putting this treastle together.
Trust me when I say I'm no where's being an expert on this subject.
After tracing laying a sheet of cardstock on the rail and tracing the outline of the rail head I cut the stringers which were laminated together into 4 inch lengths and glued them end to end following the rail.

I then used whats called pliobond to cement the ME bridge rail to the stringers and weighted them down for 2 days as the instructions for pliobond said.

A nice fit to the original curve

And so assembly began

Lynn,

It is looking first class my friend, and is going to be huge when completed. Thanks for the update and the 'how to' explanation.

Thanks Steve it is tedious but the because I enjoy working with wood so much its quite enjoyable.

Thanks Johne. Always a place for a bridge you just have to be inventive. Tony has this bridge and he seems to have the same problem.;)
