Oh crap, I've just noticed this, I meant to say your NOT likely to break them, sorry (holds head in hands with embarrassment)
Yeah, pretty pissed when I read that!!! Actually I had an idea what you were trying to write. Mo problem

These arrived this morning, so I can crack on with the small tank depot.

I am back from the LHS.

$30.00 for a partition car from Atlas is a good deal.

I needed the Microscale Mask as the Humboldt stuff I had would not congeal to form a mask and I distrust Tamiya tapes on model

Amazing how one missing word can really change a meaning, I really am sorry about that, I hope you ignored it and took a look anyway, would like your thoughts about them and if there's anything I should do to improve their running, I was thinking I should get one of those bearing reamers.

I will CRACK them open later today.

They should be fine. The issue I have with Intermountain is I have the wheels hit the underside of the body. A couple spacers took care of that. The steel wheels by Intermountain are some of the best wheels if not the best in HO scale, IMO. Hard to get in our area so I have been buying the Walthers Proto steel wheels, almost as good.

As to the truck tuner. I am a huge believer it helps. All my own fleet get the tuner process. What also helps is that the axel point that seats into the truck is free of anything. Dirt or paint on the axel point will not allow the car to roll decently even if the tuner is used.

I promised to post pictures in the "what am I buying this month thread", so here it is.

Include your picture - see below. Could not get a good picture these do not show how wonderfully detailed this beast is.
Tell us about it - This is the second run the Broadway Limited Imports has done of this model. I was really disappointed when the first run sold out so quickly, and then the price. Yikes! Apparently this second run isn't selling as well and fortunately, I found this one on the "clearance" page while looking for something else. Got it well off the $900 list price. As I said on the other thread I really wanted number 619 but for the price break I can live with a non-prime numbered loco.

It is a brass hybrid model with Paragon 4 sound so it will work well with my rolling thunder set up.

The Texas and Pacific ordered 70 of these monsters from LIMA in 1924 and started receiving them in 1925. Since it was the first 2-10-4 wheel arrangement in the US, the Texas & Pacific got to name the class so they called it the "Texas". Book designation was I-1 and #610 was an I-1-A received in1927 with tractive effort of 84,600, and the first with the trailing truck booster that added 13,300 lb of tractive effort. Some other interesting things about this was that the firebox (98 square feet) had a combustion chamber and two thermic syphons, the boiler had Elesco K-50 feedwater heater. T&P called this paint scheme their "Russian Iron" scheme. The railroad loved them. It is reported that despite driver counter weight issues they got 33% increase in speed pulling, 44% more tonnage, while burning 42% less fuel.(this info from ref 1)

Review - Obviously it is a wonderful looking model. Arrived with one tiny part broken off, but I cannot figure out where or what it is. I will report on performance after it hits the track.

Reasons for obtaining - How can one look at this massive locomotive an not want one? It might be smaller than the UP 4-12-2 but it certainly doesn't look as ungainly as the UP counterpart does. It just says power, and apparently backed it up with performance. Plus I have a few Texas & Pacific odds and ends SW7, GP7, set of F units, that needed a friend from the Steam Era. This will become part of my "monster" steam locomotive display. Finally, there was the price. I cannot resist a really good deal.
