I did not break the box open. I don’t want to ruin that joy for you but Intermountain cars are nice. Good details but not super fragile. From what I could tell everything is intact and they were safely wrapped in bubble wrap in the shipping carton. They look great
If you want to take them out and have a look, it's fine by me, your exactly likely to break them. :D

Tom,

Yep, I got two small tubes of the Loctite Gel and liked it very much. Stays where you put it, and helps hold what your trying to adhere in place as well. Only issue I had was they were "small tubes" and you didn't get that much; however, I see Loctite has it in a similar container as the Gorilla glue container above so might have to just order some in.
The Loctite I have, good size container. I have the Gorilla glue type but haven't tried it yet.

These came in yesterday in the post.

I will have to modify the couplers or rather change them out. For the Timken car.

I got this locomotive to pay homage to my local short line railroad near me. I will be adding DCC & Sound.

From Saturday’s adventures at the train show.

only $26.50 spent, heading to the paper mill

I was at the LHS when he opened this morning. Based on yesterday’s sales and what I needed for rolling stock this is all I came home this morning with.

His inventory still seems to be going down and IMO that’s sad. He seems to be transitioning over more and more to the model car kits and not as many new trains. Thankfully I still have Hiawatha Hobbies and Lombard Hobby within 2 hour driving time. Also found out the EnginehouseServices will ship free over $100 before tax and that puts them on par with Midwest Model RR‘s overall pricing. The downer is with Enginehouse, IMO they have a terrible website when using Safari by Apple.

Nice little haul you have, you intending to weather all of your new acquisitions ?

Thanks Chris. I went in to buy my list only. This was it!

Weathering. Yes, the goal is eventually.

I have 2 of your 3 cars to finish weathering this week.

Then, I have a group of cars I ran during my 2005 operating sessions that I have separated from the 2015 session if I get the layout up beyond just a few picture taking sections back up. Sone of the 2005 session cars are weathered but most are not. I will be selling them listing them on Facebook unweathered. If those don’t sell I will weather to sell. Maybe done weathering these around Christmas if commissions are good. Sooner if not.

I no longer am buying cars to weather and sell. I will buy for myself and sell off what I no longer need or want. Of course the client who supplies the cars for commissions gets priority.

While your cars are drying I have been working on 10 duplicate ARMN/UP reefers mixed number heights. I have a friend who wants to graffiti them. Following that I have another 22 ARMN high positioned car numbers to finish the weathering beyond the clear coating of the car and the wheels and trucks that are already done.

Any client commissions coming (promises but nothing current besides your 3) in will get priority and my projects pushed to the side.

The buying of cars to weather and then hope to sell became a guessing game. I am not a good predictor of trends other than real estate. Other than the ARMN I have another 20+ cars to weather for my 2015 year operating sessions. But since the layout is not operational, it maybe a long time before these see the booth.

Sound's like you have a plan, at least for the next few month's, no hurry on those cars. I know you have a fair bit going on at the moment with the Gkids etc. plus the occasional curve ball that comes along unexpectedly, so no worries from me on that front.

The unexpected chills are what are really throwing me off. Chilled to the bone and then shaking is no fun. Then sweating the next. Nope it’s not Covid or pneumonia I have been checked.

I generally after dinner do not weather. I have worked on the layout after dinner over the years. But lately nothing on that. Friday and Saturday though I was sitting in front of the blazing fireplace cutting wire for the armatures of trees while having a hockey game on the IPadPro or TV. Sunday I was researching some items and slept from 8 to 11.

I have plans but the best laid plans rarely work. I know you are in no rush and that is always appreciated. I have had a few clients that ripped me a new one because I couldn’t meet their deadlines. But, I always tell them upfront when I can get them done. If it doesn’t fit, don’t send them. Clients like you, James and most of my other regular client list ship me stuff and say do it when you can.

We all have a life away from our hobby, at the minute I'm trying to get these structures done so I can crack on with doing some scenery for that end of the layout, but till I get the structures done I don't have any idea what I want to do with it. I haven't run anything for more that 5 mins in the last few months, and as I'm going to give up most of my OO scale, probably have to re think the layout again too, so those cars you have aren't a priority for me at the minute.

I've been going through my stock and have a lot to sell. A couple of shows coming up so I'll see how it goes.
Since I decided to eliminate the 2005 operations I have a bunch more cars to sell. Looking at it this morning it’s quite a few Covered Hoppers either for grain or fertilizer. If I were to almost “rust bucket” them they could fit 2015 but barely at 40 years.

I have had mostly excellent results using the Facebook sales sites. But, there are times or the cars being sold (gondolas) were not selling. I am going through that right now, no sales happening!

I have a lot of tank cars, a couple of engines, and some other odds and ends. There's a train show next month and one in April, so I'll see how it goes.

I used the JB Weld to reattach the cab of my fire engine to the chassis and it worked very well. For metal kits anyway :)
JB Weld, my must have modelling product. Works fine on plastic as well. I use it on wood and cardboard, you name it. It is also has insulating properties so sometimes it works in electrical applications.

Good call, Tony!!

The chills and sweats sounds like the plain old flu.

However, Lymes disease produced those symptoms in me. (there were lots of other symptoms as well)

In my experience, doctors are not always aware, especially if they have not personally experienced the disease. Case in point, I had diarrhea for about a month, doctor thought it was nerves. I googled on internet and somewhere suggested lactose intolerance. On a hunch, I cut out the milk products and my system went back to normal. The doctor was clueless. Now, with the lactaid pill I can still enjoy dairy but without the runs. My lactose intolerance did not start until I was 57 years old, prior to that I was good with all the dairy products I could consume. Funny how the body changes.

BAck to the subject, I have several gondolas that I was unable to offload on ebay. Some got parted out and some I just threw in the trash.
