Hmmmm, what occurs to me is: Buy a bunch of stuff then declare bankruptcy after ya hide it all away. They will just declare the stock they get from Kliens as used, then the stake holders of Hattens divies it up between them. We'll see all that stuff on ebay soon.

As I mentioned on another thread ---

No new stock arriving from China which should have arrived October/November 2023. Hattons therefore cannot fulfil their Christmas orders. Their second hand stuff is now at the end. No sales. End of the line.

Weird stuff this. I had used modeltrainstuff for YEARS and never had a problem. Then recently, two consecutive online orders were totally screwed up. One was cancelled with no explanation (presumably because they sold the item to someone else) I and the second was for two items and the box (strangely from Nebraska) came with only one in it, and absolutely no paperwork at all. Clearly a company in failure mode. I didn’t know any of this at the time, but now it makes sense. Sorry to see a good company fail, but apparently it was no longer a good company. Oh well.

They aren't Bankrupt, just closing down in the UK. and as Mike suggests moving to the US, which would explain the MBK buyout.

They are having a closing down sale, but very few items they have interest me.

The moment the Hattons closing announcement was made (sometime about 5pm UK time on Monday) the vultures descended and cleaned them out of a lot of stock in a matter of a couple of hours. Not much left to pick over now unless you want a dozen Hattons branded facemasks (who the hell still uses them?!?) and a battered old Athearn Blue Box GP9...

When I stopped buying from MTS about 3 yrs ago I had about 1500 points on the books. I had ordered over $200.00 worth of Intermountain Wheels which at that time were $60.00 for 100 wheel sets. They said they shipped them, but I never got them & they had used up all my points in the purchase. About 3 weeks later Paypal contacted me & said a credit from them was added back to my acct.
So, a friend told me about Yankee Dabbler & I've been buying from them ever since. They were cheaper too & only charged for the correct weight of shipping. I always paid a flat rate from Model Train Stuff & if I only bought 1 small item the minimum was still the same for a larger item.
