Yes, I know it spells Liar, but its actually rail spelled backwards.
It stands for Lower Illinois Association of Railroaders.
So far just myself and 2 other friends. But we do already have a 14x28 ft HO modular layout. We do 1 show a year, the Parkersburg chowder. We would probably do more, but I work on the weekends, and its really hard to move, set up, and take down the layout with only 2 people.

We are in the Wayne and Richland County area of Southern Illinois.
facebook is here http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Lower-Illinois-Association-of-Railroaders/166855010051012

and the website is here www.ilrail.webs.com

Anyways, just thought I would throw that out there.

Hey you guys are off to a great start! Our club started with just a few guys and now stands at 30+.
I miss having a modular layout, maybe the smaller club I'm in will start one...

We were on the bench about building anything modular. Finally I just went out and bought a bunch of lumber and track and built 2 4' straights, and 2 180 degree curves. The other guys followed, and we now have about as much layout as 3 guys can handle. Hoping the time comes soon when there are more people involved. One of the other guys has talked about trying to take the layout to a big GTE show or something, I might have to pay ahead and take some vacation time!

That's great! When it comes to MRR activities, I tend to be a lone wolf, seeking fellowship with the little plastic folks of the town. :D

What's the story line behind these two pics?

Just having a little fun. The one trooper had to fight that guy to the ground, while the other trooper was racing to back him up, he got hit by a train. lol

Say Mike,
It's about the same for me too, glad I haven't started to carry on any conversations with any of them yet! Well, if the truth were to actually come out, Oops, how did let that slip??

Ya Mike, I tend to also be a lone wolf too and as long as I can stay motivated I can actually get more done. My problem is I often tend to jump from one project to another, [and the little folks give me hell for forgetting about their needs and lack of work cause the rail line is progressing so slow], Oops it happened again. Keep it under wraps, would you, I wouldn't want the word getting out, ok?

In reality working alone does give me enough time to mull things over in my mind and I have plenty of decisions to make and glad I feel free enough to make changes as they present themselves.

Take care,

David

Let me get this correct....you are a lone wolf....ok, i wasn't sure, cause you never post how lone a wolf you are, or the weird relationship you have with plastic people on any of your posts.....thanks!

I haven't had any conversations with my little folks yet either, but I enjoy creating story lines and backgrounds for them. There's Josh Tatum, Burt McAllister and Ol' Jed to name a few. Heck, there was even an old bull running around the layout for a spell some years back by the name of "Bullseye". He's gone now. Did a dance with the peddler freight and lost. Put the train into emergency just shy of a crossing. The president of the Broak & Howe RR sent a crew from the kitchen car out to the scene for an impromptu barbeque. Darn near the whole town was there and it's been rumored that the B&H claims adjuster handed bullseye's owner a sauce stained check for damages.

That's pretty funny, I like that!
