Happy New Years Smudge, I am going full DCC so that’s why I haven’t used insulated joiners.Thinking about it, why not connect the two tracks now and use insulation joiners, that way if you decide to go full DCC later you wont need to move/connect any track.
Thank you Bruette, slowly but surely, have most of my track now, just have to figure how I will elevate it.Wow, lots of great posts and fantastic work!
Thank's Gary, same to you and your family, I suggested it as you said your having one DC and one DCC track, if your going full DCC all the better, going to be a great layout, love seeing your build.Happy New Years Smudge, I am going full DCC so that’s why I haven’t used insulated joiners.
I've never found that track plan to scan in, but I did start a thread for it at one time and apparently forgot all about it. I wonder if I have anything photo evidence I can add between then and now to bring it up todate?Wonderful layout. Love it !
-Could you post a track plan ?
-Is there a thread about your layout somewhere ?
Thanks.
Seriously tho' that really does look amazing.A little update as starting to dry fit my windows and doors.

Still making sure I am happy with the colours and still have more painting to do. Might do the doors and still change the roof colour.Seriously tho' that really does look amazing.
Doesn't look like it's had any wash yet, has it ?Still making sure I am happy with the colours and still have more painting to do. Might do the doors and still change the roof colour.

I am considering it, but when looking at old buildings here in Halifax, you can barely see the mortar lines in the brick from afar…..still debating but will weather it some for sure.Cool layout and best of all, steam locomotives. On that station, have you tried cotton dipped in mortar color diluted in thinner? This would separate brickwork and make not so shiny.
Looking good Gary, You should ask Willie how he does his, might save you some time, I've tried his method, ((which I can no longer remember), but I just couldn't get it right.Working on Goal 2 of 4 finishing North Street Station, painting the grout is definitely tedious, but at minus 25, great day for it.

Thanks Flyboy, close to what I am doing as well, I like it better than when I tried powders. When I do grout lines I make a thin wash of paint, then paint it over all the brick work. Once it's dry I use a cloth and scrub it. That takes most of the paint off the brick, but doesn't touch the grout lines. What little is left on the brick surface just adds a bit of efflorescence.
