Quick addition from me, was in the train room fiddling with something, grabbed a quick shot of whatever front ends looked good in the light.

BN 4362 (still in SP&S colors), Alco C636, and SSW 7248, GP40-2, sit outside the engine shed.

Is that to warn local raccoons?
The car is a 99 Forester and is at least a couple inches lower than stock. It used to have a plastic undertray. There was a small hole for access to the oil filter but somebody along the way "enlarged" it a little. Then we went skiing and it got more tore up in deep partially frozen snow and driving home blew it up against the exhaust and melted more of it away. I took it off and the first thing visible was the oil pan.

The sign was warning to railroad workers on the side of a car of close clearance approaching a now abandoned building on an abandoned spur on an abandoned line and for years was at the top of my parents' basement stairs. You had to duck to go down the stairs so it was an appropriate place. Anyway, I didn't like the idea of leading with the oil pan and remembered that sign and it was a perfect fit. I made a couple brackets, drilled a couple holes and now it's been there several years.

Once driving through a construction zone on I-80 crossing the Columbia River at Umatilla, OR, came to a narrow lane where a large chuck of ice/snow had fallen off a truck. There wasn't room to go around and then remembered the aluminum skid plate. I tried it out and it obliterated the snowball. It didn't even leave a mark on the sign. It did make a big noise though.

I have not warned any animals with it.
