An extremely rare lashup, mostly because the UP never took delivery of the Baldwin Centipede locomotives.

From just a few weeks ago. UP 519, a rebuilt GP38-2, now designated a GP38N by that railroad, idles on an industry spur in South St. Paul.

This lineup is to be seen in Hagerstown, Maryland in the former Western Maryland/Baltimore and Ohio interchange yard. Deffinitely worth a visit, since behind me is also a little rail museum.

Yup, did some window shopping. Diesels with dcc and sound are about half the price of steam. For new anyway. Finding that out, I have enough steam locos! Consisting is in my future.

Less and less MRR's are into steam as most of the younger generations have never see them outside of a Musuem or only if there running special's, and have so hold no special memories of them. And as you say, prices are way different between the two.
